At the invitation of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, Alexander Van der Bellen, President of the Republic of Austria and his wife Doris Schmidauer are making a state visit to Belgium from 21 to 23 March. The King and Queen welcomed President Van der Bellen and his wife Doris Schmidauer with an official ceremony held at the Royal Palace in Brussels.
NATAN Izar dusky pink wool coat
Mi piace il colore di tutto l'outfit, io lo chiamo "rosa antico".
ReplyDeleteLa cintura è troppo alta, forse sarebbe stato meglio un cintino più basso.
Nel complesso però mi piace molto.
The belt is at her natural waistline. She is very short-waisted, which is why the wide belts she wears are such a bad choice for her. ~d
DeleteQueen looks like inspector Gadget. Perhaps if she let go of the hat and gloves.

Who is inspector Gadget ?

Inspector Gadget 😂 Such a funny reference. Now the song is playing in my head.
DeleteI think the Queen is wearing just too many shades of the same color family and it looks a mismatch. She really went all in on those big Natan belts this year. Outerwear needs more of a match for monochrome or contrast to highlight the lovely Rose color of the coat (which needs a bit of the fabric removed- it is too much). Love the hat style/fit but it gets lost due to the coloring- in a contrasting color would be better. Her dress is lovely without the coat but I feel the hat, shoes and purse compete for accessories and are not complimentary to the dress. I like that she is not matching everything but she needs more contrasting/complimentary colors.
The President’s wife looks lovely in her dress, but, for this time of year, I would prefer a darker shoe or even a camel color (for her bag too) and her coat a bit longer, past the hem. Love her dress’s neckline and statement gold earrings.

@jill: aahahah... True!

Apart from the hat, which looks very good on QM, the Queen's outfit is not to my liking: large pockets on the hips, belt that is too big, a dress that I would expect to suit Queen Elisabeth much better and an unusual colour combination make that QM doesn't look her best.

President's wife looks elegant...the queen, not so. No need to go into detail, it's painfully obvious. Ann B
ReplyDeleteIs the first lady really elegant ? not her bag IMV. Ok for her spring dress but very classical.
DeleteThe colour of this outfit is special. The old rose is very fashionable this spring.
ReplyDeleteThis morning it was still pretty cold in Belgium. I think she had the hat already from another darker outfit, maybe she should have replaced it by a little hat and do her hair in an updo. I like the dress with the pleated skirt (or is it a skirt and blouse ?). The shoes are old rose too. Just the clutch and gloves are another colour (more cognac) but they match well with the rest. I wonder what Queen Mathilde will wear this evening, I suppose there will be a banquet.
Bearing in mind fashion trends this outfit is not bad, although a bit too pinky. I prefer the dress than the coat. Not fan of the belt.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the color is original I find the coat too voluminous, it has too much going on and along with the hat it gives a somewhat theatrical look. I think the pleated dress is fine and it proves that she looks much better without the belts that she seems to favor. The president’s wife looks appropriate and discreet.

DeleteAgreed, the president's wife looks correctly dress for the occasion.
The sleves on her dress look interesting. Would love to get a close up view.
Apart from the hat, I think Queen Mathilde is dressed in her usual "Queen Mathilde" way.
As a fellow blogger has said, it will be interesting to see what comes out of the wardrobe if there is a gala dinner.

ReplyDeleteI don't mind the colour of the coat but I find it quite unflattering in its fit and personally I think the hat is awful - like some sort of 16th century Puritan affair.

I say " yes to the dress" which is very elegant. The coat has a wonderful colour and the model is okay too, but like others say this belt is so wrong. Too high up under the breasts. I really don't know why Mathilde and also Máxima are advised to wear belts like this. Maybe Mathilde should have chosen another colour for hat, shoes and bag.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! The hat without the coat is OK--I think my iffy response is based on the style of the hat vs the elegant dress. I know Mathilde has better choices in her hat closet. The coat--color is fine but again, the ginormous belt on shortwaisted Mathilde is a big fail. And its even a mess on the model because of the placement of the too big belt. I have never seen a short-waisted model but even on the model that belt is awful. As for all the blends of colors--I really wish Mathilde had avoided that. A cream coat would have been fabulous with that rose colored dress.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the coat or dress, shape of the hat is ok, but the color of the entire outfit, including the shoes, with the plastic looking parts, are a no from me.
ReplyDeleteThe president's wife looks lovely.
Unfortunately I am not a fan of the dress or coat. The Presidents wife looked very elegant.
ReplyDeleteEverybody seems to find the President's wife elegant, well I don't. The navy blue dress is not too bad, but her cream coat doesn't fit (especially on photo n° 3 & 4) and her handbag is a shopper.
ReplyDeleteThat was exactly my view.
DeleteIt is fashion to use the same (or almost the same) colour for everything : shoes, handbag, gloves, hat, coat, dress or in another case : pant suit, shoes, handbag, blouse etc ..... especially the nobility prefer it this way.
