On March 16, 2022, Queen Maxima visited the reception centre for Ukrainian refugees in Amsterdam. The Red Cross and the Municipality of Amsterdam have set up a humanitarian service point in the RAI Convention Centre where refugees are received and where help requests from Ukrainians are recorded. The refugees are offered a place from the RAI where they can stay in the foreseeable future.
During her visit, the Queen spoke with refugees about the situation in Ukraine, their journey to the Netherlands and communication with their loved ones in Ukraine. The Queen also spoke with employees of the Red Cross. Maxima's outfit is from the fashion house Natan.

Not much to say fashion wise, apart from the colour symbolism in Maxima's ensemble.
ReplyDeleteI applaude all the efforts from the Red Cross and Q. Maxima's visit to highlight the good work for the Ukrainian refugees which is being made all over Europe.
I quite like this outfit, the mustard pants and top combined with the pretty blue coat. The bag is wonderful. A good visit, well done to the Queen.
ReplyDeleteI don't care much for her hair and clothes here. At least she wears the colours of Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteBut I just love to see her there. Genuinely interested and compassionate, listening and in some pictures even comforting refugees by gently touching their arms or hands.
That's one of the main reasons why she is so popular and loved. She stands with the common people, not above them. Her interest and compassion are genuine, you can see it in her eyes.
Well done dear Maxima. And pray for Ukraine!

DeleteI agree with every word of your comment.
@Rosalyn.
DeleteAgree also with your comments.
In photo N°8, Maxima looks as if she is shedding some tears.
On another site with a similar photo, you can see that she has tears in her eyes.
Sorry but I'll give fashion a miss on this one.
La couleur moutarde s'associe très bien à la couleur bleu-pervenche du manteau ; très mignon son petit sac à mains !
ReplyDeleteAnother Natan success. "How ungainly can we make a queen look?"
ReplyDeleteBunched around the shoulders - trousers dragging along the floor - give her some tire rolls when she does not really have any to speak of - apply as much fabric as possible between top of chest and neck so that her neck disappears -
- make sure that she looks rather uncomfortable in what she is wearing.
I can now see that the too tight around the upper arms, too narrow in the shoulder look that queen Mathilde always has with a Natan outfit has nothing to do with her inherent shape but everything to do with whoever is in charge of pattern drafting at the NATHAN establishment.
A potentially attractive blouse ruined by appalling fit.

DeleteOf course I respect your view but I do think it is unfair towards Maxima on this particular occasion.
I see she could have dressed much better.
Fact Is that this visit does not aim at making the Queen shine.
She is there to bring support and comfort and let refugees feel accepted and protected as well as to give visibility to all the strenous work the Red Cross is doing in the Netherlands too.
Oh, Oh, Nalerina, you see things I donot see, but apart from that: this mustard yellow is not flattering for any figure.
Delete( I am in doubt about the visit: I cannot think that the people of the Ukraine really like the photographers that are around the Queen).

Her compassion for those in need is extraordinary. I am sure the refugees are encouraged and comforted by her visit. God bless them.
ReplyDeleteI like QM's mustard pant suit, and her blue coat is gorgeous. Can't make out her earrings except that they are gold; her bracelets are pretty, especially the one with the multicolored stones. Her bag is great. Overall, a good appearance.
Love the color combination, the coat shoes, shoes & purse. I agree with Nalerina that the tailoring is not the best, however the whole outfit could have been improved by a good brassiere, and a simple ponytail.

ReplyDeleteAgreed.
The Queen represents the country and its people more than ever.
She is there to say: we all are here to help you and we all share your fears, pains and deep sorrow.
God bless the refugees and whoever is working for them.
I think Maxima looks fine and her outfit is quite presentable. I don't see anything seriously wrong with it thought one could nit-pick at everything if they wanted. The powder blue coat is lovely. I am far more moved and impressed at the Queen's reason for the visit and her genuine empathy to the refugees. That's far more important to me.

I agree. Sometimes fashion is not the thing to focus on. This is about the refugees. I happen to like mustard and find the color very appealing. Maxima's coat is quite nice. The most important thing here is her genuine concern for the refugees. I think this is something we can all agree on. ~d

Her outfit, outside of the lovely blue coat was just too much, gaudy mustard, much like the outfit Queen Mathilda wore not long ago. I wonder what the real purpose of this visit was, just like Fergie showing up, she is not a Royal, and yet she was there hugging everyone in sight, at least QM appeared to listen to the stories these people have to tell. Yet on wonders what do you say that does not sound really dumb when the Queen can go back to the safety of her home, and these people are homeless, jobless, don't know where their family members are, etc. All very discombobulating. Elena
ReplyDeletePS: The hair looks horrible. She IS the Queen, she should have some responsibility for making sure her hair looks nice.
Are you really asking what the 'real' purpose of Maxima's visit was?
DeleteI will tell you: she was there to welcome the refugees on behalf of my country and of all the Dutch people. And to show compassion and try to bring some comfort.
And to use your words "She IS the Queen she should have some responsibilities...": indeed she has, but these go a bit further than "making sure her hair looks nice" (again your words).
Gaelle
@Elena, what do you suggest? That royals only make appearances to museums, musical acts, gardening events. etc.,? The role of monarchies nowadays is basically to be the ambassadors of their countries, and I can’t see a better example than welcoming war refugees. Of course she is going to go back to the safety of her home, just as you would if you were to show up at one of these places. I really can’t see why are you “ discombobulated “ that is the dynamic, some people show support by volunteering time, others donate money, others fundraise.
DeleteCherry
Exactly, and others go into fashion blogs to criticize anything and everything, some complain because the royals don’t wear enough symbolisms to offer support, or because they don’t make public statements, while others take issue because they do go to welcome the war refugees….keyboard warriors abound.
