Queen Letizia presented the Grants for Social Projects of the Mutua Madrilena Foundation at the Foundation's auditorium in Madrid. The grants are for non-profit entities, and has an annual allocation of 1,000,000 euros that is to be distributed among 36 social initiatives. The grants aim to help promote projects that contribute to improving the socioeconomic reality and the quality of life of various vulnerable groups both in Spain and outside the country.
The grants have been allocated to various projects from one of these categories: disability; gender violence; child support; labor integration of young people at risk of exclusion; social and economic consequences of Covid-19 on homeless people, the elderly and vulnerable families; and development cooperation.
I love the blouse and its beautiful folkloristic design. I think that the trousers are a bit too modern/edgy to go with the blouse though, and it´s mainly the cropped length that a mind, and a little bit the high waist, especially in combination with the cropped length. When I saw the first three pictures, I was actually hoping it was a skirt rather than trousers.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I wish she could take her mask off, at least to give her speech.
Hilda
@Hilda In speaking for myself, I do not consider Angie's comment rude. Vanessa is well known for her anti-masking stance and she rarely lets an opportunity go by without reminding us. At this point, the subject is moot.
DeleteIt is understood that we all have our opinions, and we can choose to follow proposed health protocols for our region or not. The continued commentary is a distraction from the fashion we come here to focus on. ~d
Most important!!!!, she is wearing the tipycal Ukranian short, called Sorchkna, supporting Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteWow, interesting, I thought it might be a secret message of support. Well done!
Delete-B.
Sorochna blouse for Ukraine!! From Spain!!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWow! Letizia wearing a Ukrainian vyshyvanka! That is quite a sartorial statement of support! I like the way she has paired it with modern trousers and that wide belt. Wearing folkloric pieces is not always easy. I like the outfit and the statement of support for Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteAgree!!! Perfection, great look, nothing overdone with accessories! Statement for Ukraïne is very well done!!!
DeleteAbsolutely agreed! Fabulous all around!

Mária
Ohhh, I love her blouse and that she teamed it up with simple dark trousers. Very pretty and stylish look from Queen Letizia.
ReplyDeleteKaarin
In this occasion I am not fsure of this match ...the blouse is lovely...but .....the trouser s are another style.
ReplyDeleteThe blouse is lovely? It is an Ukranian étnica blouse, supporting them, not fashion
DeleteSo? It can be lovely at the same time.
DeleteBrava Queen Letizia!
ReplyDeleteStop war-Stop Putin
Support Ukrainian people
This is a very moving gesture from the Queen ( who is supposed to stay neutral in all circumstances: bravo Laetitia!)
ReplyDeleteMabel
No words needed. Statement made. Beautiful look as only few can do with such elegance. ~d
ReplyDeleteI cannot see the difference between f. ex. Hungarian typical blouses and Ukranian. The women of other East European countries also wear this kind of blouses. Can anyone explain me the difference ? Is it the embroidery that is different ?
ReplyDeleteThe Queen wearing this beautifully crafted Ukrainian blouse speaks volumes, marvellous, wonderful gesture on her part. I love the high waist and cropped leg of the pants. This outfit looks fabulous. Her choice of shoes and clutch, the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteMagnifique son corsage, elle ressemble encore plus à Rania 😀
ReplyDeleteWhat a significant gesture, and lovely and elegant to boot. Love everything about this outfit. The pants have the perfect length to display the gorgeous shoes.
ReplyDelete@Vanessa, your comments about masks are just tiring, every single time, yikes!
The Queen follows the protocols of the health Ministry. You are free to wear masks or not, to go out or stay home, it’s your choice. Your political stances are irrelevant on this blog.
Cherry
I agree with everything you have said Cherry.
DeleteUpon seeing the first pictures it came to mind her top is sending a message of support to the Ukraine crisis. Well done Letizia thumbs up I cannot give her enough praise for this gesture. Coming from a high profile person such as a Queen shows the solidarity the world has come to, to support Ukraine & be united. I understand. this is a fashion blog & not political so in the fashion aspect of things J love the top & the intricate embroidery Mary

DeleteTotally agreed.
Let's not forget that taking sides can be dangerous for royals since some of them are heads of state as well as public figures.
Letizia' s support is priceless.
Wearing symbolic clothing or colours is one measure of support Royals can choose, but it was announced yesterday that Queen Elizabeth II made a generous private donation from her personal funds to a British relief organisation assisting Ukrainians affected by the war. I can't recall other instances of this kind of personal financial generosity by Royals in other global human crises, or perhaps it happens but doesn't make the news?

DeleteKudos to Queen Elizabeth!
I think most of the time it doesn't make the news when royals do a generous gesture just because they must be careful and not showing who is getting their sympathy.
DeleteTo be honest, I was not a fan of the outfit but having read of the provenance of the blouse I can only say ‘Bravo’ and ‘Well done’ to Queen Letizia. What a significant and encouraging gesture.
ReplyDeleteThe queen wears a shirt that is Ukrainian folklore. A "sorochka Vyshyvanka". Wonderful queen, for her symbolic support for Ukraine
ReplyDeleteKudos to Q. Letizia as well.
ReplyDeleteHer sartorial choice speaks volumes.
Kudos to Queen Letizia for making a strong statement of support for Ukraine by wearing a traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirt. Subtle yet powerful. I also love her styling of the shirt with the plain black pants--very much highlighting the beautiful embroidery.
