King Felipe and Queen Letizia hosted a luncheon at the Zarzuela Palace in honor of the President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, who is making a working visit to Spain. The luncheon was attended by the First Lady, Mariam Fadel Dah. During his working visit to Spain, the President of Mauritania will hold several meetings with Spanish and Mauritanian businessmen. Ghazouani has been President of Mauritania since August 1, 2019.
Cherubina Alessia Dress
Excellent stylish dress worn by QL today; it suits her wonderful and she looks very elegant.

Totally agree!
DeleteWhat sophistication!
Splendid!
Mabel
Perfection.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is undoubtedly very elegant but a queen is expected to look regal and Queen Letizia should add a brooch or another adnornment to this effect. Her hair is too long and girly girly.
ReplyDeleteI don't think adding jewelry makes one regal. Letizia has her own style, and it is one of simplicity when it comes to jewelry. When she does wear the exquisite jewelry she has access to as the queen, joyas de pasar, she stuns. I don't know if you have noticed, but younger royals in particular, don't favor brooches. As for her hair, I know she hasn't done much to it in the past few years. I have been keeping my fingers crossed that she has decided to go natural and forgo big cuts and styling due to the pandemic. I would love to see her color the grey as I think it is aging, though I realize many women embrace their grey (my own mother being one of these women.) Her length is versatile and is being trimmed. The days of women of a certain age not having long hair are long gone. I agree it could use a few inches off the ends and still have a nice length. We will have to see where she is going with her hair style as time goes on. ~d
DeleteI am not a big fan of Queen Letizia but she belongs to a younger generation that don't like brooches. And it is known she does not like much jewelry in general. Her hair is not longer than Duchess Catherine's who sometimes dress like a little girl (the sweaters, the little white collars, etc...)
DeleteActually the role of Letizia in Spain is not to look "regal" if not a public servant with a salary. Brooches are not on fashion and are oldated. What you understand as "girly", I understand as modern, what we want, a modern wife of the Head if State, Who Actually only has a diplomatic role.
DeleteDoes the head of state must not look "regal" too ? He is educated to be a king and looks very regal to me.
DeleteDoes former Queen Sophia not look "regal" ? I never heard she had a "salary".
In other royal families there is a budget for the representation costs (a.o. the clothes the King and Queen need to dress according their position, their personal needs, etc...).
If brooches are not on fashion why is she still wearing tiara's ? They are not on fashion either, only for Royals and Miss World.
Are you speaking when Franco was Alive? Really?? I have never hard of Spain un your live..
DeleteSofía..??.. a Grrek?.. please...get abook!
Felipe and Letizia have a salary known by the Spaniards. This year only 2000 euros more than other years, I think It is about 129.000 for Letizia more or leds, for everything. Obviously they do not pay a mortage, but their House belongs to the State, they have not properties.
DeleteSpain had two Repúbliscs. Sofía"s family is on the exile, Greece is a República too. They were put by Europe there, actually they are Danish, not Greek at all.
Tiaras are considered oldfadhioned in Spain too, you must learn some history, by the way, Alfonso XIII was sent to the exile....his greatgrandfather...
This is a beautiful dress, I love it. The Queen looked stunning when worn with her hair styled up. The waistline and bodice is problematic, It sits splendid on the sample. I'm wondering if it is a fit issue, a little large for the Queen hence the waist not sitting well in the front. Regardless she looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteQueen looks splendid. The first lady of Mauritania thou!! covered in too much fabric, as if mummified!

Elégante robe dont la couleur me plaît beaucoup mais je ne vois pas de boucles d'oreilles ; seraient t-elles cachées sous ses magnifiques et longs cheveux ?!
ReplyDeleteBrooches may not be very popular at the moment but they are still created by jewellers and designers so that they are not old-fashioned. I am sure that Spanish craftsmen would have been delighted if Queen Letizia had chosen to “promote” their creations. I admire her for going grey, just like Princess Caroline, and dyed hair does not necessarily make people look younger. Raine Spencer, stepmother of Princess Diana, looked fantastic with her stunning grey hairdo.
ReplyDeleteLetizia has not money for jewels , she has a salary for living as her husband, they are not models, if not workers for the country.

ReplyDeleteI agree with those that say QLeti needs either some jewelry or another accessory for this dress. If not a brooch, then either some earrings or a necklace. It just needs a little something. But it's a beautiful dress on QLeti and her hair looks nice.
ReplyDeleteI find the customs and outfits of visiting dignitaries and their wives fascinating. I would like to know more about the outfit of First Lady of Mauritania. Why does it cover so much of her? Is it for religion? Modesty? Do all women in Mauritania dress like this? Is the fabric she is wearing hot? Or does it breath well for a warm country? it's very interesting!
Le nom complet du pays est République islamique de Mauritanie. Les femmes de ce pays sont donc très couvertes et pudiques.
DeleteNormally I love the way QL is dressed. But this is a big no for me. The colour is quite boring and does not suit her at all. This dress makes her look like a very old lady
ReplyDeleteQL tried not to over dress as hostess, she took into consideration the first lady attire
