On Thursday 17 February, Queen Maxima of The Netherlands paid a working visit to LG Sonic in Zoetermeer. The company specializes in chemical-free algae control using low-power ultrasonic sound waves. Since 1999, LG Sonic has been a leading international manufacturer of algae control systems.
The working visit focused on topics such as innovation, sustainability and growth opportunities for green start-ups. In addition to these, Queen Máxima spoke with LG Sonic CEO Yousef Yousef and CTO and microbiologist Lisa Brand about the challenges green companies face if they want to scale up.

DeleteMy, my, my what some fashion designers will think next !
ReplyDeleteAva
She should weer a better bra !
ReplyDeleteI know that it is a fashionable trend now to wear the coats thrown over the shoulders, but it is very uncomfortable, isn't it? If one doen't hold the lapels with both hands, it slips off, or hangs awkwardly, like in pic.2, especially if it is a heavy material. I love the coat and the dress, however, it looks like QM ordered a ready-made item, and she needs a customized version, IMHO. If she asked them, they could've changed the proportion of the frilled element and armhole. It would've suited her better while saving the idea and the style of the model.
ReplyDeleteAgree Marina. In her last event with the navy coat and green skirt, her coat was flying around as if an octopus was chasing her. This “coat hanging off shoulders thing” is a small pet peeve of mine.
DeleteI like her dress and coat as well, although I think with this heavy material in this style, the dress should have sleeves. Clearly it’s not a summer dress, so nice 1/2 or 3/4 sleeves with the coat on or off and your tailoring suggestions then I’m all for it.

I love Maxima, but I really dislike this Oscar de la Renta dress. The back of the dress is gorgeous, but the seemingly haphazard placement of the plaid fabric in the front is just weird. I would like to take scissors to it! Her hair is very nice as are her boots, bag, earrings and bracelet.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. The house of Oscar de la Rente is suffering a fabric shortage. So now we can add fabric as well as chips and spare parts to the world shortage list.
ReplyDeleteThey have left off the sleeves for a dress to be worn in the middle of winter but gracefully provided the Queen with a coat to keep her arms warm in the same fabric as the patched in fabric piece of her skirt where they ran out of fabric.
Good try but it does not quite jell. Still I think it almost worked. Maybe with a few tweaks it might still be a hit. Her hair looks nice and uncluttered and she has resisted the urge to add more than one statement piece of jewellery (I count earrings as one statement piece.) She even resisted the urge to re-clutter with wide buckled belt. We are getting there.
No, just no. The heavy winter dress looks ridiculous without sleeves. Moreover, it is too tight in the wrong places, and, as stated above, needs a good bra (an always missing item with madam). The suede boots are too clunky and somehow the wrong material with this dress. See the model with slim leather boots…..
ReplyDeleteLily T.
The whole look is wrong.
ReplyDeleteIll fitting dress, coat dangling to floor and the boots/bag.
Argh! Does she not have a mirror?
...Marie
Dear Max, please set this hairstyle permanent.
ReplyDelete-Daphne-
I actually really like this outfit. And finally her hair looks good! It's really unusual for QMax though, to wear so few pieces of jewelry. And when she takes off that coat, her upper body needs more embellishment than those simple gold earrings can provide. If she had asked me, I would have had her wear a long sleeve, white blouse under that dress. Something soft with maybe a bit of poof to the sleeves. And it definitely with a white collar. I would have let out her dress just a smidge so it didn't fit quite so tightly. With the collar it probably doesn't need much for jewelry but a short necklace might be nice. Or one of QMax's fun brooches. She has some fun ones- I bet she could find something that recalls algae (to go with the theme of her visit). ;)
ReplyDeleteThe way you want to change would it make even worse.
DeleteWell, I don't know. It could be a good ensemble but it 'aint.
ReplyDeleteThis fashion house is doing well out of bits of left over tweed /flannel fabrics.
On the internet the price for the asymmetrical flannel /tweed dress
is around €1 000 (or more).
Good money to be made out of old rags ........ no?
With storm Eunice raging over our country, this time she was smart enough to put her hair in a bun.
ReplyDeleteThat's a positive
Actually with the storm raging at force 10 gales here near the coast I find it quite surprising her coat did nota take off from her shoulders into the wind never to return to earth.
DeleteI haven't seen pictures taken outside, but it wasn't storming indoors, was it 🙃
DeleteRosalyn I kid you not. If you happen to live in an older house i.e. not younger than the 1960's with older doors and windows there probably was a gale in the house. It is not that uncommon here a stormy wind but this was really quite scary with really big trees coming down in our street and neighbourhood. Admittedly Maxima was in a solidly built office building and it is in Zoetermeer which is a bit back from the immediate coast but then why did she start the meeting indoors with her coat still on?
DeleteWell, lots of royal ladies wear their coats inside. And Maxima seems to like to wear them over her shoulders. I often don't like it, but if she prefers it that way?
DeleteI live in a flat but no idea how old the building is. But the balconies are attached on the outside walls so yes, combined with quite some trees around, it was a lot of noise and we've had a couple of trees knocked down. But luckily no harm was done. And yes, we could feel the wind on our feet and legs when we stood near the windows, so the building is definitely not new! 😅
I hope no harm was done to you and your place. Have a nice and more quiet weekend!
I will start with the positive...while the boots are not a good choice with this dress I do like the boots themselves and her hair is styled nicely...but this dress is one of the ugliest dresses I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteRenee
The model looks good in this outfit. Maxima does not. Hair looks better than usual.
ReplyDeleteNot a good look, too much fabric, in different patterns, and for once, her hair looks good, pulled back into a bun. jj
ReplyDeleteI quite like the coat, but the jury is still out on the two tone fabric for me, as it is the same with the dress. The Asymmetrical hem be it a skirt or dress, I don't like and in this case this is no different, it is definitely an acquired taste.
ReplyDeleteLuckily we all have individual tastes, point in question here. The Queen obviously loves this style, she seemed very happy, confident and engaging on her visit. The boots look chic, the bag I love. I am not sure if the large hoop earrings are gold earrings, difficult to tell, if so, one of my favourites. The Queen's hair looks fabulous in a up style and this is a lovely refreshing change. Her makeup looked on point. It was lovely to see her out and about on this visit.
Bad taste but a lovely smile! Marie-Christine
ReplyDeleteBad taste but a lovely smile. Marie-Christine
ReplyDeleteTiti I agree she needs a better bra, but I think it is also her posture.
ReplyDeleteHowever there are a lot of Royal ladies that need a better fitting bra.
Women forget they can make or brake an outfit and it makes you slimmer.
Why don't their dressers tell them?
