Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) and the Royal Conservatory of HOGENT and Howest. The Queen attended a masterclass for cello and a few musical intermezzos. During the visit, the Queen also spoke with international students who are developing a professional music career at the school.
For many years, the Queen has supported the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition, which in 2022 will be dominated by cello. The school brings together talented and motivated students from all over the world with outstanding educators, active artists, designers and theorists in art and design.
NATAN FW19 Collection
Only if you are model thin can you get away with wearing this outfit.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, this makes Mathilde look very large thru the mid-section.
...Marie
Mathilde doesn't look very large in the mid-section but she is.

Looking for positives, the first picture, where we see the top under the cape looks good. Sadly, however, we then see the rest of the outfit including the peplum style top and it's just NO! Perhaps the trousers would be okay with a plain top or the top with plain trousers (though I don't think this style is ever flattering for Mathilde) but together, they just look terrible.
ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde is a lovely woman, but I don't understand why she keeps wearing plaid pants and tops and large printed fabric which is not very flattering unless you are a young and very thin model. This outfit is a total miss. Of course she wants to promote a Belgian designer but surely she could find another designer beside Natan.

As AnnieM has said, I will look for positives. The top is longer, which is better for Mathilde. I think it is a mistake when she wears short tops or tucks them in. She needs to elongate her torso. I also like her coat in the navy to break up (or hide) all the plaid. I can't see if she is wearing a belt this time, but I will pretend she isn't. It is not necessary. That is about it. ~d
ReplyDeleteThe last picture shows the belt. Really made the outfit look worse than it already was.
DeleteThe last picture where you can see the belt is from another occasion (2018 or 2019) where she and king Philippe were present together. This time king Philippe was not present.
DeleteJust as badly tailored and distracting on the Queen here as on Princess Stephanie weeks ago.

Why, with all her money and resources, would she wear such unattractive and I’ll-fitting clothes? She is a lovely woman. Why does she do this to herself?
ReplyDeleteM is mad about plaid. The top and the color would flatter her but NOT the pants, it’s too clownish. Plain dark pants would look better.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Cleaver
I agree. I do like this plaid and it’s colors better than the other one. I also think if she kept the bias cut plaid throughout the top with navy or deep green pants it would be more flattering for her.

I feel enough has been said about the plaid pants and top. Positives: The Navy coat is lovely, nice length (navy my favourite colour). I don't normally like earrings such as this pair but these are gorgeous. Hair and makeup is on point.
ReplyDeleteAva Pittman, I agree with everything you wrote.
DeleteI went to Natan's website and looked at all there is to purchase; What a mess of fabric, styles, just plain ugly clothing, and the stick thin models look anorexic.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to design houses creating classic, beautiful clothing?
For today: the cape and shoes are the only nice looking pieces. jj
Designers creating classic clothing ? Well those are not really required in these days. Demand is more for originality, new trends etc. Anorexic models ? another general trend. But I think customers can find their way through good selection, even at Natan, but that is the real weak point IMV.
DeleteThis combination top and trousers are from 2018. Trousers are O.K. but with a plain navy or bottle green top it would have been better. What I do not understand is that she continues to buy this kind of fabric. She has another checked trousers in green and navy which is so much better. She wears it with a green leather jacket. If it is too cold to wear a jacket she could still wear her woolen navy coat.
Parfait.
ReplyDeleteMARIAMAR
Too much PLAID.
