Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the hospital ship “MV Global Mercy” owned by the international charity Mercy Ships. The ship is moored in the port of Antwerp and will sail to Senegal later this month in order to make medical and surgical care accessible to the poorest patients in Africa. Accessible healthcare is one of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, of which the Queen is an advocate.
MV Global Mercy is the world's largest civilian hospital ship, constructed as the first purpose-built floating hospital for the humanitarian organization Mercy Ships. During her visit, the Queen spoke with some volunteers and toured the infirmary, the school on board and the bridge of the ship. MV Global Mercy will sail to Africa for her first field service after a stop in Rotterdam.
MV Global Mercy is designed to perform a range of surgeries. Mercy Ships provides these surgeries free of charge to patients in their host nations over the course of each 10-month field service. In addition to that, during each field service, Mercy Ships cooperates with the local government and healthcare leaders to provide specialized training courses, to mentor local medical professionals, and to support the country's healthcare system.
These mustard pants are not flattering on her at all. I love just about everything else she's wearing- the wrap, the shoes, her purse and even her blouse (although it could use some nice jewelry to dress it up since it doesn't have a pattern on it.) But those pants- yikes.
ReplyDeleteMustard yellow is rarely flattering and added to the chunky belt "yikes" sums it up perfectly!
DeleteCompletely agree. Given the belt buckle, it’s location, size and fabric wrinkling, I would say Natan strikes again.

Nooooo
ReplyDeleteI agree. The color of the pants is ok indeed, but the belt is the problem at least for her. The blouse is ok.
DeleteGood grief - please NEVER wear those pants again. They are an affront to humanity.

A lovely and sophisticated colour combination, and the warm yellow of the pants is refreshing.
ReplyDelete-B.
I thought the same as well. I like the colour combination because a) it's unusual and b) the tones of both colours are correct and therefore go together; and I don't think that the fit of the trousers is that bad. The trousers are definitely Natan but I don't know where the top is from, but it's also a nice styled blouse.

I agree. This mustard colour is fashion this winter. When we had to wear dark colours during winter is longtime over. So I agree with an. 18/2/22 18.18 and 23.36. Since there was a storm on the North Sea yesterday her pants almost fly away but inside they looked quite normal and the fit as well.
DeleteSuch an unelegant, badly fitting pair of trousers QM wears today. The mustard colour doesn't do her any good and the whole look might have improved somewhat if combined with a different (colour) blouse. The shawl colours go so much better with the mustard colour of the pair of trousers

Mercy on her outfit. What was she thinking. *Regina
ReplyDeleteThe blouse and plaid wrap are quite pretty and would have looked great with black or dark grey pants, but these wide legged mustard ones are quite bad.

The belt, color, shape, and fit of the pants are very bad. The blouse color is pretty but doesn't go with the pants.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous outfit. The unusual color combo is quite pretty. The pants with the belt is what makes the outfit so attractive. Very few could pull this off but Queen Mathilde does so very well.
ReplyDeleteThe silk blouse is very pretty, love the plaid wrap, very becoming. The pants, obviously it is personal taste and the Queen obviously likes them, so I will leave it at that. Love her choice of shoe and clutch colour, splash of colour, lovely.
ReplyDeleteAva Pittman, I agree with your diplomatic assessment of the Queen's ensemble.
DeleteThank you Debra, it must be very difficult being in the public eye, making decisions on what to wear.
DeleteThe outfit the Queen is wearing is both difficult to tackle in a fashion manner in that I really really dislike mustard colors. However, with that said, the blouse is a lovely hue or shade, the shoes, bag are nice colors, and the pants, well, they are a tad wide wide, though the wide belt helps with the overall look. What is beautiful is the shawl or cape she is wearing. What a lovely combination of colors. It would have been a much better look if she had worn a mustard colored blouse, pants, the color of her blouse, and complimented that with the shawl, Better still, leave those mustard pants in the closet, wear the blouse with a darker shade of blouse colored pants, and then added the shawl. My quibble with the shawl is that it was too short, it should have at least covered her down past her hip line. jj
ReplyDeleteIt is a shawl not a cape, therefore it does not cover her hips. I remember when she first wore this shawl at an official visit nobody liked it. Most people said she took her blanket with her. Now I read that there are a few who like it. The shawl is at least 2 or3 years old. The pants and the blouse are a rewair too. I think Queen Mathilde is in advance fashion wise. It is not the first time that I noticed it. On a rewair there are more bloggers who like her outfit than the first time she wears it when it is new.
