On February 9, 2022, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall attended a reception at The British Museum in London to celebrate the work of the British Asian Trust, which is a charity aiming to support disadvantaged communities in South Asia.
The British Asian Trust was founded in 2007 by The Prince of Wales and a group of pre-eminent British Asian business leaders. The Trust works to tackle the widespread poverty and hardship in South Asia to which millions of people are currently subjected.
The Duchess of Cornwall excels when it comes to evening wear and this no exception. A really beautiful outfit which I am sure looks even more sumptuous in reality. All set off by those amazing emeralds.
ReplyDeleteI often think that the outfits could show better in reality and I agree with your comment that this outfit is quite beautiful.
DeleteOh dear Camilla went to the museum in her dressing gown and green silk pyjama's. She did remember to wear her stunning emerald necklace though and her makeup and hair look pretty.
ReplyDeleteCould be nice but some conflicting length between the long dress and the trousers.
ReplyDeleteExactly what I thought too. I think the kaftan (dress) should be end just under her knee than it would not be bad and the color of the kaftan is too dark. A lighter green like the trousers could make all the difference. The emeralds are beautiful but I think they don't go well together with the dress.
DeleteAgreed. The Kaftan-y look is a good one, the colour is splendid, the embroidery exquisit, but it clashes eventually with the trousers where length is concerned. That's why many gain the impression of pyjamas plus dressing gown... sadly, when it's overall a very refined look.
DeleteAhh- that’s it. I agree MaryT, DSC & Anon. I loved the green and the paisley embroidery, the entire outfit but something was off to me about the pants, more than just the way they photographed. Yes into the PJ vibe and it’s the lengths- so obvious now, thanks:).
DeleteI may add that if anyone has time, flip through some pics from this event. Asian/Indian fashion is absolutely exquisite with rich colors, fabric, embroidery, etc.- such an amazing feast for fashion eyes.

That deep green is fantastic on her, highlights her blonde hair and complexion. Those emeralds are gorgeous. I do think the caftan is just a little long though, but love the embroidery on it. Prince Charles does look nice in that tux.

Beautiful future queen. Dark green is very lovely on her.
ReplyDeleteVelvet is clearly the Duchess’s fabric of the week this is a beautiful colour but like other posters, I think that a shorter coat would have avoided the dressing gown vibe. Camilla herself looks brilliant ( and certainly younger than Charles although she is slightly older)
ReplyDeleteI really love Camilla. From what one knows she was never very much interested in being in the public eye and certainly didn't want a public role - and now she has taken on the job and handles it like an (extremely elegant, dignified) pro. I hope Charles know how lucky he is; but I suspect he knows. Theirs is truly a relationship that has stood the test of time.
ReplyDeleteThe Duchess always looks lovely in green and this is no exception, she looks stunning. The emerald necklace is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit--gorgeous green velvet!!!--from the Duchess! Those emeralds are dazzling!!!
ReplyDeleteThe velvet makes Camilla look a bit curtainish; it is like a big coat with trousers underneath, the colour is too dark. I think if she is to become Queen she needs to get a new stylist; there is nothing regal about her, she needs to give up the cigarettes. Her hair is a bit flat on top. I like the outfit of the lady on the left in the last photo; a nice pattern
ReplyDeleteagreed
DeleteWhy should she give up the cigarettes? Everybody knows that Denmarks Margrethe smokes. (I mean: of course there are many reasons to give up smoking - I did so about many years ago and did not touch a cigarette since - but her future role as a Queen Consort is none of them.)
DeleteShe gave up the cigarettes several years ago.
DeleteAnd I find her quite regal.
