On February 3, 2022, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Bausher, Muscat, as part of their current official visit to the Sultanate of Oman. The King and Queen were briefed by Habib Mohammed al Riyami, Head of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science on the history of the building the mosque, the designs of diverse Omani and Islamic architecture patterns at the mosque.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde were also acquainted with the facilities included in the mosque, such as the Institute of Islamic Sciences, the library, lecture halls and other facilities. The King and Queen of Belgium are paying an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
Mathilde looks spectacular!
ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde looks amazing . Really regal .
ReplyDeleteDress and shawl are very appropriate for visiting the mosque. Queen Mathilde looks beautiful in this rich colour. The dress is from a state visit to India 4 or 5 years ago..
ReplyDeleteElle est vraiment sublime !
ReplyDeleteThis is a very well thought out ensemble. The Queen looks splendid. The colours are rich and blend in well with the surrounds. She looks both elegant and regal. Beautiful outfit.
ReplyDeleteNow this is just gorgeous. After the first two fairly disappointing outfits, this one more than makes up for them. Glorious colour and a wonderful fitted bodice. which flatters the Queen's figure. The red scarf and even the mask are great accessories. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteFortunately the first two outfits where not disappointing to all the other readers of this blog. The second outfit was not a good fit for her, I agree. I saw this dress first at the "Queen Elisabeth Music Contest" in Brussels last year and I found it not a good choice for Queen Mathilde, I still do. The dress and shawl to visit the mosque is stunning and make her look so beautiful and regal. The first outfit is not designed by Natan and almost everyone liked it. I saw the outfit she wears today. They took an helikopter and a boat to visit the harbour and the plants and she is dressed appropriately.
DeleteWow, Mathilde is breathtaking!!
ReplyDeleteThese rich shades of red beautifully complement her blonde highlights.
Perfect accessories and jewelry.
Stunning gown!!! Mathilde looks gorgeous and so elegant.
ReplyDeleteBeyond regal and stunning. What a QUEEN looks like!
ReplyDeleteWow, Queen Mathilde looks stunning. The rich color really looks beautiful. King Philippe looks quite handsome here as well. What an amazing showing.

The Queen's ensemble is beautiful! She looks lovely in this color.
ReplyDeleteI always wonder about protocol with head coverings because most royal ladies only make a gesture of covering by leaving the fabric very loose and showing the hairstyle around the face. When I am in a situation of following protocol I cover properly as the ladies of the region do, rather than making a gesture of covering as the royal ladies do. It's a contentious subject but obviously some fashion choices are symbolic and one I've wondered about. If I was a royal lady perhaps a casual covering would be accepted but for a common person it would be seen as disrespectful?
This tour seems very interesting!

I'm sure Queen Mathilde has been briefed what to wear when meeting the sultan and before entering a mosque. That is the normal procedure for state visits. Queen Mathilde is a loving and caring person, she would never do something that could insult her host or embarass the government of her country.
DeleteQueen Elizabeth and Queen Beatrix have both worn head scarves over their hats, while the younger royals in their respective families have worn just the head scarves. Beatrix was criticized for wearing a scarf in the first place. I'm sure a loose head covering, just like removing their shoes, is appreciated. It is being done out of respect, not out of a belief for the faith. In our countries, we appreciate any efforts made to respect our traditions. ~d
DeleteYou are so right. This is an amazing building with one of the biggest oriental handmade rugs in the world. At night it looks like mosque was made out of sugar. The big chandelier is unbelievable. The former sultan, Sultan Qaboos bin Said did so much for his country but foremost for the women in the country. They have the same rights as men, can study and work outside. Sultan Qaboos was also very involved in the enviroment.
DeleteA real leader who built schools and roads where there was nothing when he came to power after his father.
Mathilde est magnifique même...
ReplyDeletevoilée !
gorgeous pattern, fabric n outfit!
ReplyDeleteThe Queen is beautiful, but I'm not a fan of the color of her dress and headscarf. It's a lovely outfit, just wish it was a different color.
