King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia made an official visit to Vienna on January 31, following an invitation by the Federal President, Alexander van Der Bellen, and his wife, Doris Schmidauer. The King and Queen opened an art exhibition at the Belvedere Museum in Vienna. The new exhibition displays nearly a hundred of Dali's objects, paintings, and works that were influenced by Freud's writings.
The King and Queen also attended a wreath-laying ceremony in memory of the victims of National Socialism. This is the first visit of the King and Queen to Austria, and aims to promote the good relations between the two countries. During the visit, the King and Queen were accompanied by the Minister for Culture and Sport, Miquel Iceta.

I like Queen Letizia's black coat, chic. I am surprised to see her hair not as polished as it usually is. I love the berry coat as well, what a gorgeous color.

Lignes très élégantes du manteau de Letizia - J'aime la nouvelle manière dont elle a coiffé ses cheveux ; cela change beaucoup de la raie au milieu même s'ils sont joliment lissés !
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect coat. It's smart and stylish and the Queen looks superb. perhaps a lighter coloured scarf would have enlivened it slightly without making it at all inappropriate for the occasion. I love the colour of the coat worn by the President's wife but the short trousers and flattish boots make it look frumpy and "old ladyish"
ReplyDeleteI agree that longer trousers would have been better (culottes are fashionable but hard to combine) but not everybody likes to wear high heels. I'd love it if lower heels and flat shoes made a real fashion comeback! ;)
DeleteAgree with you, Annie M.

Vienna is one of the most beautiful cities in the world! (And I am not even from Austria...). I hope Letizia enjoys her visit.
ReplyDelete(Für die Österreicher unter uns: Ludwig "Wickerl" Adam soll gesagt haben: "Der Wiener, der neidet Dir noch den Krebs..." Ich hoffe natürlich, das stimmt nicht...)
Agree with you about Vienna and I am not from Austria also.

That is so lovely of the both of you to say! Thank you! :)
DeleteThe same for me about Vienna. Can't almost wait for my next visit. Greetings from snowy Finland :)
DeleteI like Letizia's coat - and agree on a lighter colour scarf.

DeleteYes, Wien s such a spellbinding city!
I think Letizia wears an elegant but too dark outfit.
Her hair colour looks a tad dull.
Her hair looks odd - it looks dirty, or maybe it has too much product on. The coat is very smart but it does nothing for her figure. All in all, a bit meh.

@Hilda. 1. Most likely the Queen pulled her hair back to avoid it blowing in the wind as happened during the Italian state visit in Madrid.
Delete2. Most likely she used a product to hold her curls in place and also to add semi permanent color. It is amazing that an adult woman would post this same comment verbatim on several blogs for years.

What a beautiful coat! It is rare seeing Letizia with a scarf and gloves. I would have liked seeing her in a pair of her beautiful boots here, but the bare leg does break up the black. Letizia's hair style looks more youthful than a low bun can end up looking, yet will still keep it out of her face if the wind kicks up during the initial meet and greet and following wreath laying ceremony.
ReplyDeleteThe first lady's coat is a beautiful berry shade. The rest of what we can see of her outfit leaves a lot to be desired. If her trousers had been several inches longer, covering a fair amount of the utilitarian looking boots, she would have looked a lot better. It looks like the two ladies made a warm connection. ~d
Lol the First Lady wearing the types of boots that half the women of Vienna are wearing... Not very fashionable, I agree, but she wouldn't look out of place on the Viennese subway lol.
DeleteIts fabulous to see the coat, accompanied this time with scarf and gloves, very stylish. The coat is lovely and I realize it is the cut and design, but it has a lot of fabric. I normally like sleek and streamlined coats, this is completely the opposite. I love the berry coloured coat worn by the First Lady.
ReplyDeleteQueen Letizia's hair is so much better like this. Coat and dress ar nice.
ReplyDeleteThe first lady's pants are too short. The red coat is lovely.
Letizia está perfecta , nuevo peinado que luce juvenil . La primera dama tiene un corte de pelo muy feo. Podría haberse esmerado más. Su abrigo no tiene color feo pero as amarrado parece una bata de casa.
ReplyDeleteLetizia is lovely. Yes !, but do not denigrate the other lady
DeleteShe was charming and welcoming to your Queen.
No la denigro digo lo que pienso de su indumentaria. Su abrigo no la favorece.
ReplyDeleteSi tu lo ves de otra manera yo lo respeto.
