The Duchess of Cornwall met with children at the Clarence House

Just like every year, The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron of Helen & Douglas House and of Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, met with children supported by both charities at the Clarence House in London. The children helped the Duchess to decorate the Christmas tree, and enjoyed lunch and treats with their families in the dining room of Clarence House.

The charity supports a network of more than 70 Roald Dahl Specialist Nurses across the UK, who provide expert help and support to seriously ill children.

  1. A lovely variation of Camilla's 'trusty old uniform' in pleasing white. (And with trusty old boots! :) ). - A happy occasion for all! - Ellie

  2. Wearing boots in your own dining room ? The colour of the dress is good and so is the cut but the boots ruin everything. Camilla, a mask is to cover up your nose and mouth not to keep it in your hands all the time !

  6. I just love the guard in full uniform with his bearskin hat. He looks like he came straight out of the Nutcracker ballet!

  8. Really lovely dress!
The narrow sleeves and the length of the skirt flatter her very much. I also like the combination with the boots ( the red boots of Letizia would have been good stunning!)

  9. She looks very good. She has blonder hair, not so grey anymore. It suits her very well. The only thing that gives me the creeps is that she's walking around without a mask. And that in the presence of Omicron. Frieda

    1. I would presume that everyone there had taken a lateral flow test.

  10. To me the contrast between the white dress and black boots is too sharp, esp. as the dress is of a rather lightweight fabric and the occasion seems to be inside. That being said, I think the silhouette of the outfit fits her figure lovely and I love the broche she is wearing. :)

  11. I don't understand what everyone has against Camilla wearing boots. I realise we all have different tastes but some comments read as if she's decided to wear a pair of nipple tassels! They're a plain, pretty non- descript pair of boots, rather standard footwear and I don't think they "ruin" the look. I also don't understand what is wrong with wearing boots in your own dining room - since when has that been a breach of etiquette?

    1. Agree with you 100%! Its cold weather and boots are perfectly normal this time of year.

  12. I think the dress is lovely and age appropriate, winter white is always a winner for me, specially around the holidays. I love boots in any shape and style, but this pair is totally wrong for this dress, the color contrast is jarring, they look too sporty and incongruous ,a pair of elegant shoes, on silver/bronze/gold, would have made all the difference. I agree that her hair is always tidy, and the color is fantastic ,and the length is just right, but those 80’s Charlie’s Angel flyaways make her look like she is still in that era, a more simple and slick style would be be way more elegant.

    1. More on boots!? I support boots as really a winter fashion item, also for indoors. We just need to look at pictures of models showing their boots of all styles.
As said earlier I don't agree with the sharp criticism on her black boots. However I can imagine that, for such an occasion, there are better choices to fit with her dress than these black ones which look more appropriate for outdoors. Camilla, get a wider collection of boots, if you have space in your closet and money to spend on it, but go on wearing these when you feel like it.
But we should not expect she to wear trendy boots with high heels like Qn Letizia or Maxima.

    2. I disagree with Cherry. I think the boots look fine and her hairstyle suits her fine too.

  13. Such a shame that (again) the black boots spoil the DoC's look; hope to see this nice dress again paired with a nice pair of shoes

  15. Like the dress but agree with Anon 16 57 that the boots are just awful with it. Why not light coloured shoes especially as she doesn't even have to go outside for this event.

  16. This is a lovely dress, the fit and cut is perfect. Suits her perfectly. Love the addition of the brooch, adds interest.

  17. Maybe her boots are comfortable for her feet and back, do you ladies ever think of that, she does suffer with her feet.
She looks elegant and very happy to be entertaining all the children on this special occasion.

    1. I suffer with my feet too, but today there are a lot of special brands which are designed for people with all kind of feet problems. And you cannot see the difference between a 'normal' shoe and these comfort shoes. So that is no excuse. The problem with Camilla is that she always make the wrong combination. The boots don't match the dress.

  18. Love Camilla's outfit, boots and all. Her dress is so pretty--this creamy color is wonderful for her. The children and their families must have had a marvelous time.

  19. I have to laugh, wearing boots in your own house and carrying around the mask instead of wearing it, was it too warm in the house for wearing a mask, maybe take the boots off and she'd cool off. cariad -- God bless the children!

  20. What a wonderful initiative this is. Christmas is about caring for other people and the Duchess gives the right example. Her dress is fantastic in colour and model and the black boots give it a swing

  21. I think she looks wonderful. White is definitely her color. I love her hair and the way she wears it. I also don’t mind the boots. Her dressmaker certainly knows how to flatter her majesty’s figure and she always looks comfortable.

Kudos to that sensitive great soldier too.
It brought tears to my eyes just like it did last year.
