On December 2, 2021, The Duchess of Cambridge visited the "Faberge in London: Romance to Revolution" exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The Faberge exhibition, which opened on 20th November, showcases over 200 objects and celebrates the work of Carl Faberge and his internationally recognised firm that symbolised Russian craftsmanship. The Duchess wore a new paisley georgette tie-neck shirt by Ralph Lauren.

What a wonderful Bow Blouse
ReplyDeleteThis shirt is hideous. Full stop. It looks like something a 90yr old would wear. Bin this one.
ReplyDeleteAlso, slacks come in colors beyond black..

Yes, PB, there's a reason we don't see paisley much anymore. ~Laurel~
DeleteMy thoughts exactly, PB. In fact, Laurel, paisley print seems to have become fashionable again, but this particular one with its very busy pattern and gloomy colours is not good.... Kate looks grumpy in it. Sorry and apologies to those who like it, this is just my personal opinion
DeleteE.d'A.
I love it, but I'm in my sixties.
DeleteReminds me on the little house in the prärie
DeleteNobody in Little House on the Prairie river wore a paisley pussy bow blouse.
DeleteAgree. Two of my pet hates in one blouse. Granny print and bow at the neck.
Deleteher eyebrows look perfect, dark and bushier. perhaps microbalding.

j,
To me they look like a makeup work, definitely. There are some very good eyebrow kits out there that with a few brush strokes make the eyebrow look almost natural (I have one myself and I love it!) - you can actually see the brush strokes in photo nr.5. This explains why her eyebrows look different sizes (thickness) in photos of different events...

Wonderfull blouse, especially with this young hairdo.
ReplyDeleteIt has a risk of being an old- ladies item, my age, but now it is not.
( have a look at those Fabergé eggs:stunning!),
Josh
C'est peut-être un joli chemisier imprimé mais je ne suis toujours pas d'accord pour le port d'un nœud ; d'autre part, il me semble qu'un pantalon de couleur grise lui conviendrait beaucoup mieux !
ReplyDeleteKate's ponytail, make-up and eyebrows look great. Not a fan of the blouse. The combination of colors, print and style say old lady.

100% agree! Not a very becoming blouse, not even Catherine can make it look good
DeleteG.
Even with a mask on she looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCatherine looks appropriate for the occasion, neither to flashy, or to prim, just right. The blouse may not be a favorite pattern of mine, but she chose it, so she must like it. Its a well put together outfit and she looks lovely. jj
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how such not very pretty (for me) blouse can look so beautiful on her. She's great from head to toes!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing. She looks beautiful, and that blouse is not my favorite, but she can rock it. That 2nd pic is so striking. Love her hair here. Just gorgeous.
DeleteChel
Love this blouse. Those colors are so pretty. She looks wonderful!! Anna
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you Anna .
DeleteLove the colours and style of this classy blouse. Can't see the rest of the outfit but I imagine it's plain black trousers. Also like her hair pulled back from her face as it is today, It is especially flattering when she has to wear a mask.
ReplyDeleteA pity that all pictures show more or less the perspective of her outfit. I think the black pants are ok, navy blue would be fine as well.
ReplyDeleteMary T, yesterday "Daily Mail" showed a lot of pictures of this wonderful Exhibitionismus!
Delete... exhibition, of course....
DeleteThis is such a marmite outfit personally I love it but I can see others dislike. Actually rather good for everyone!
ReplyDeletePaisley is an ageless evergreen, a flowing beauty in georgette. The colours are a lovely combination. (-Ann.)
ReplyDeleteI love the blouse on her, and it looks great with the slacks. It is not a blouse I could carry, but with her figure and beautiful grooming she looks fabulous.

Agree that you have to have the right figure (very slim) to wear paisley. It is certainly not for everyone. To overwhelming.
DeleteNeither paisley nor bow blouses have any connotations of old age to me.
ReplyDeleteI first saw this as a modern jewel toned blouse, not overly bright, and just the right amount of interesting pattern and colour to be styled with Kate's ponytail and make-up. Nice.

My mother had a blouse like that years ago; paisley is an interesting pattern, never goes out of style. The hoop earrings look nice.
ReplyDeleteAt first, I didn't care for the blouse, but when I viewed it several times, it grew on me. The gem toned colors of the paisley are pleasing to the eye and seem appropriate for the season. I very much like the duchess's glossy hair in a ponytail. Can't see much detail of her earrings, but the gold color seems to match the gold swirls in the blouse.
ReplyDeleteLooks like she is 50 or something like that. Not my favourite outfit on the duchess.

Very pretty look--I like the blouse, love her hair and make-up. The colors of the blouse make her eyes look very green. Wish we could see more her outfit as well as the gorgeous work of Faberge.
ReplyDeleteHer make-up was much more natural lately. Now her brows are too dark and too thick. I see also black eye-shadow. I don't like it.
ReplyDeleteThe blouse is not bad but too old for her. Her hair is beautiful and shiny as always.
MJ
Victoria called, she wants her blouse back.
ReplyDelete(I guess it is fashion, but not my cup of tea. I would however love to see the exhibition!)
Beautiful deep rich colors on the blouse, highlight Catherine's lovely complection and beautiful hair, which looks nice drawn into a ponytail, rather than being down. Annie
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is my own great dislike for paisley that I react negatively to this blouse.
ReplyDeleteI never liked paisley even many, many years ago when it was popular and frequently worn. Also the style of the blouse is old-fashioned and dowdy. A rare miss for Catherine.
Tolle Frisur, die Bluse hat tolle Farben... wunderschöne Catherine!

I'm not keen on paisley but I like the blouse and the black pants.
ReplyDeleteVery classy.
I would have liked to see what coat or jacket Catherine wore on this occasion but of course she had put it off inside the museum.
Her wavy pony tail is fabulous.
Great exposition too.

love kate in a sleek ponytail. do like the blouse, but agree it does look rather ageing. i think its because of the mis-match with the safe black pants. would look much better with a slim pair of bright pants - red, blue or green, and some sharp heels. lcb
ReplyDeleteI like this blouse, mostly because of the lovely jewel tones, I don’t see it as aging, it could perfectly b e paired with jeans and funky shoes and it would look trendy, of course not for this occasion. I think if she had worn grey pants as the model does it would have been an improvement. These pictures prove that choosing a piece that may not be widely liked, it can still result in a win, simply because the hair, makeup and jewelry are on point, so many outfits can be saved by simple grooming.
