On December 10, King Harald, Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Haakon attended the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony at Oslo City Hall. Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov were deemed worthy of 2021 Nobel Peace Prize and received their prizes during the ceremony. Last year’s laureates also attended the ceremony. The World Food Programme, which had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2020, was represented at the ceremony by its Executive Director, David Beasley.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2021 to Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov for their efforts and courageous fight to safeguard freedom of expression in the Philippines and Russia.
Queen Sonja looks perfectly elegant and stylish for this occasion in her deep wine velvet suit and polka dot hat. Such a lovely lady.
ReplyDeleteI love Nobel laureate Maria Ressa's long coat. The design and pattern typical of Filipino textiles is gorgeous.
Congratulations to both winners!

La reine est particulièrement élégante dans cette tenue en velours aubergine -J'aime beaucoup sa coiffe/bonnet perlée ou à pois sur fond noir ; elle a toujours autant de goût en toute occasion !
ReplyDeleteQueen Sonja's ensemble is very lovely. I like her hat too. A pity she is not wearing more natural looking panthose/stockings.

The Queen looks lovely in her outfit, the only minor quibble would be to wear a darker black color of nylons, otherwise she is spot on with her overall appearance. As usual her smile is the best thing to see.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful, elegant ensemble. The jacket especially is stunning, gorgeous rich in colour. Love the hat.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it really is a polka dot hat; I think it may be a plain hat with white-dotted veiling.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I think you are right about the hat is not polka dotted, but has a veil with pearls. They match her beautiful pearl necklace, brooch and bracelet. Queen Sonja is lovely.
DeleteYou are both correct. It is netting with either pearls or embroidery, over a plain black hat. I said polka dot because at the time (I was the first poster) there were no close-ups, only photos showing it from a distance. The close-ups were added recently, after I posted.
