Buckingham Palace has released a new photo of Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth wore a red dress by British designer Angela Kelly, and a sapphire chrysanthemum brooch

Buckingham Palace has released a new photo of Queen Elizabeth from her upcoming Christmas speech. In the photo, the Queen is seen while sitting behind a desk in the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle. The Christmas speeches of the Queen are usually pre-recorded in early December. This year marks the first Christmas alone for the Queen, following the death of Prince Philip in April.

The photo was taken in 2007 at Broadlands country house in Hampshire when they marked their Diamond Wedding Anniversary

The Queen usually displays pictures of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren on her desk during her speech. Last year, the Queen displayed a single photo of Prince Philip after the pair spent nine months in lockdown together. In a similar way, for 2021, on the Queen's desk, there was just a single framed photo showing the Queen and her husband Prince Philip together. The photo was taken in 2007 at Broadlands country house in Hampshire when they marked their Diamond Wedding Anniversary.

For Christmas speech, the Queen wore a red dress by British designer Angela Kelly, and a sapphire chrysanthemum brooch that she has worn many times in the past when she has shared happy moments with Prince Philip. The brooch, which features sapphires and diamonds set in platinum to form a chrysanthemum design, has been in the Queen’s collection for decades.

  1. Elle est superbe dans cette couleur rouge-corail bien coiffée, maquillée ; elle a sorti les bijoux de circonstance dont sa belle broche de saphirs et diamants !

  2. Strange that the picture should be blurred; I don't understand why. - On the other hand, since it is a festive occasion, and the Queen is dressed up with make-up and jewellery, she should be wearing a bra. It doesn't matter what she does in her privacy, but she did need a bra for this occasion. - Ellie

    1. That is the first thing I noticed. My goodness, did nobody notice that she is not wearing a bra?

    2. The photo looks blurred because it's only part of a screenshot, where the focus was on the queen, not on the table.

    3. Erm... the picture of her and Philip is blurred because the focus is on the Queen behind the desk! 🙃

    4. I think she is wearing a bra but her dress does not fit. It is not a good cut for and older lady. I think I see two seams who reminds me the cut of what we called "ligne princesse" in the sixtees. It were mostly teenagers and young women who wore that kind of dresses.
A pity because it looks like it is a good fabric and the red colour suits her well.

    5. Are you serious? Of course she is wearing a bra, why would you think otherwise. It never ceases to amaze me what people say on these blogs.

    6. I am sure the Queen would never go out without a bra. I just think her weigh loss has changed the way her dresses fit even if they have been altered.. she looks lovely in red and her jewels are amazing as usual.

    8. I think she is wearing a bra but at age 95 plus her breast are sagging. (Let's see how perky your boobs are at 95.) Also, she appears to be leaning back against the chair instead of sitting up straight. The combo of the two is the reason why "the girls" are down around her elbows. Putting all that aside, all things considered, I think she looks pretty darn good! A smile would have been nice but, I can understand why she might not have felt like it this year.

Rock on Liz! You still got it girl! :-)

  4. The Queen looks lovely, but, as might be expected, a little sad. I love her red dress and is appears that it fits. Perhaps it is new and tailored to fit her current size. I understand why she chose the chrysanthemum brooch, but it seems, to me, to be a mismatch to the pearls. I hope she is able to enjoy her pared down Christmas at Windsor. I look forward to hearing her Christmas speech.

  6. Her Majesty looks lovely albeit sad and that is certainly expected with all that is going on in the world and with the loss of her beloved husband. I hate that she is going to miss most of her family for Christmas because none of us is promised tomorrow and she is up in age.. She is much loved and I wish her many more years with her family.

  7. What a beautiful, but incredibly sad, picture. The Queen looks beautiful. The red dress is fantastic (and is tailored well), and the addition of the brooch is extra touching. The picture of her and Prince Philip is extremely sad, especially knowing she won't be able to head to Sandringham. The background is gorgeous, just a Christmas feast for the eyes.

  8. This will be her first Christmas without her husband, I'm feeling sad for her that she will spend her last years without the love of her life. God bless her.

  9. I think the Queen looks stunning!
Never thought that a 95 year old could wear a red bright red dress with bright red lipstick.
( about the fitting of the dress: go and sit down ladies, and when you donot stretch your back, see what happens with your bossom!)

  11. Her make-up is to dark. She always had a fair face now it is bronzed. That's why we see her wrinkles better too. The red colour of the dress and the lipstick suits her.

    1. How Christmassy of you. It isn't a harsh expression - it's a serious expression because she's giving a speech about a frankly crap year - she was widowed if you remember.
