    1. Yes, Queen Silvia looks amazing, very elegant and impeccable!

So does Queen Letizia, though it seems a bit cold without sleeves in end of November in Sweden. Nice gesture of her though to wear the Swedish brand H&M.

I´m might be one of the few who are not fond of CP Victoria's dress. The idea of a nude beige bottom colour might be good, but in reality it doesn't work and look more like ..... (sorry to say, remaining parts of a bad good dinner from a distance..) The aquamarine tiara is supposed to match but is too low, imo I think the "stråldiademet" would have been better. The yellow ribbon was not a hit neither to this.

P Sofias dress was really nice, but there is too much going on at her left side - to much with the bow and 3 different brooches.

Letizia looks stiff in the photos and one can´t help but wonder what the reason for her attitude is... (?)

Lovely with a gala dinner though - and once again - Silvia is the "winner"! ;-)

    2. I agree with Anna that the tiara doesn't quite suit CPVs face. I also find it too busy for the pretty but very busy dress. An all diamond tiara would have been better.

  6. QS just wow; love the top with the boatneck as well as the fabric and colour combination!

QL looks good too, but not a big fan of the bare arms for this occasion. It's a shame that CPV was photographed in front of the wooden doors, because I think this background doesn't match the beautiful dress she's wearing.

For me, the white of the PS dress is a bit too bright and the dress seems a bit too long (I'm not talking about the little train). The drapery on the left shoulder is different, but not something to my taste.

Tiaras are the mark of power no to be "beautiful", they must to come across as "Big" to show the power of the Dinasty.

    2. Marie, I agree with you…this tiara’s massive size almost overwhelms Letizia’s very delicate facial bone structure. I would say she is around medium height, but even a tall woman can have a slight build, which is certainly the case here. There is nothing wrong with your eyesight 🙂.

The Swedish ladies: Everyone looked stunning, especially the Queen, the hues of her dress were lovely. CP Victoria, loved the whimsical nature of her gown, and Sophie was lovely in her white gown.

The Spanish Queen: Looked lovely, but a rather dark gown, plain collar and no sleeves, with the intricate tiara, didn't look quite right.

The men all handsome and well dressed. jj

    Queen Silvia looks beautiful!
I would have loved to have seen Victoria wear the Princess Margareta Ruby tiara, it would have complimented the colours on her dress ! Which is a vision !
Sofia suits the white, although it looks a tiny bit tight. But, love how she wore her wedding tiara with the pearls.
Letizia is the disappointment for me. The dress seems out of proportion on her. Victoria has the same dress, but had it altered to give in sheer cap sleeves. That might have balanced out the dress for Letizia. But she didn’t disappoint with the tiara ! Matched it with the earrings and bracelet. The sparkle brought the gown to life ! Ana

    5. There is indeed dress protocol for gala events, but usually it doesn't cover what to wear in summer or winter (sleeves or not sleeves, colour of the dress) but the type of the event. State visits are the highest level events with special attention to the gala dinners. In Sweden the Nobel festivities are on the same level of importance with state visits.
Someone wrote about "yellow ribbon": it is a sash of a specific Spanish order (can't remember its name). Victoria wears just that because it was given to her as she is the crown princess. The light blue sash Letizia wore is Swedish Serafimerorden (the Order of the Seraphim). It is the highest Swedish order and given only highest dignitaries. (The kings wear chains of the highest orders: Felipe wears Seraphim and Carl Gustav the Spanish Golden Fleece - given only to heads of state)

  19. Oh isn't this just what we need to brighten up a cold November evening (in UK anyway). Queen Silvia looks amazing----stunning, classy, sophisticated. What a fabulous dress. I love the crinoline skirt of Queen Letizia's gown but agree that it need sleeves or a shawl or something to make the top look less bare. CP Victoria's dress is lovely and Princess Sofia's is a relief after the floral effort earlier. Princess Sofia's tiara is easily my favourite. I agree with those who say that "La Buena" just looks too big for Queen Letizia's neat head and 'm afraid that the Cameo tiara does nothing for me. The tiny bits of negativity are HUGELY outweighed by the joy of seeing everyone dressed up so beautifully.

    1. Queen Letizia looks spectacular and I think it is worse to wear a neckline as pronounced as Victoria's for such a cold climate. Nothing looks cheap on Queen Letizia because she elevates everything to the category of "regal."

  26. Camilla Windsor could certainly pull off "La Buena"; even if Letizia had more bouffant hair she is too thin to pull it off. Back right before she became queen it was said that the bigger tiaras would not suit her as they had Queen Sophia. And something is off with the dress, perhaps some longer sleeves would be more appropriate (but we know Letizia likes to be bare-armed).

Silvia's entire look is a winner, it's beautiful. Not a fan of Victoria's severe look with the pulled-back hair & the aquamarine kokoshnik; a softer look would have paired better with her beautiful gown. The skirt of Sofia's white dress doesn't hang right & it's too long, it looks fine on the model but doesn't look right on Sofia. She looks almost out of place.

All four men are looking exceptionally good, especially the visitor.

    2. Okay, Anon 09:16 - Oh wow, my deepest apologies for such a gigantic blunder. I was in such massive error going by Queen Sofía's original Greek spelling of "Sophia". I should have put "Sophía". Can you ever forgive me.

You might like to now pick on some of the other commenters who put "Sylvia" instead of "Silvia". Or sometimes we see "Sophia" or "Sophie" for Sofia of Sweden. How about Princess "Ann" instead of "Anne". Or "Maxima" instead of "Máxima". And some people can't spell "Madeleine". "Mette Marit" instead of "Mette-Marit". "Carl-Philip" instead of "Carl Philip" on the bench he donated (and yes, he did not like that version of his name) . Don't get me started on Princesses Leonor, Leonore, & Eléonore & Countess Leonore. The list goes on. It can get tricky.

That's right, silly me, I do not know who said or wrote that about Letizia & the huge tiaras - I simply recall reading it at the time. There was conjecture that Letizia was too thin & her hair wasn't right for the big ones that Queen Sofía wore so well. I simply added to some of the other comments that La Buena is too big on Letizia.

      Thanks.

  30. Firstly, all 4 gowns are truly beautiful, but not all of them are perfectly matched to the woman wearing them... except for Sylvia who looks fantastic and is for me the smartest of the evening, and Sophia who has the figure to wear that style of clingy gown that shows off her womanly curves. The colours also suit both these ladies.
I love Victoria's gown but feel that there's too much material in the lower half. All that fullness AND a big train? Less would be more.
I love the deep Indigo blue of Letizia's gown but the proportions are wrong for her; the skirt is too voluminous for her toned, petite frame. The look reminds me of a childs birthday cake that is shaped like a doll, where the skirt is big and full so the child can cut into it and the top is a small part of a doll. And while her tiara is stunning, it is enormous on her head, and could be mistaken for a hat from a distance. Not her fault I know, and to her credit it does balance off the volume of the dress. She is a stunningly attractive woman.

  32. I still don’t understand why people keep insisting that Letizia is petite, she isn’t, she is just very slim, just like Catherine. I find her tiara fabulous, and her head is not smaller than the other ladies, I applaud that she wore an H&M design to honor the host country, and I find this one quite elegant, and well balanced with volume on bottom, and tailoring on top, and no, you don’t have to wear long sleeves because you are in Sweden, gala dresses are very often design with deep décolletage and bare arms. IMO she is the most elegant.
Victoria’s dress is fantastic, just like a fairy tale, but I don’t like the choice of tiara, the color competes too much with the dress. Sofia’s dress is very angelical and she looks rather sweet. Queen Sylvia looks fine and age appropriate, although for me is a little old fashioned.

  33. My favorites were definitely Silvia and Sofia.
Queen Silvia...I really loved her during the first day. Her daytime outfit was classy and good color. Her evening two-piece skirt and top looked very pretty on her and fitted her well. She still has very good figure.
Queen Letizia...was a let down. I like wide skirt that balance this big tiara but top part was too underwhelming. And sorry but this time her arms looked scrawny. Also her skin had weird orange color and makeup made her look old (or something has been done to her face that don't look well).
CPss Victoria ...was okay but I must say that I don't love this dress on her. I hate her tight hairstyle with this romantic dress. Also have noticed that Victoria's face start to look tight and her eyebrows manage to give her angry look X(
Princess Sofia ..what a wonderful surprise :) Simple style and solid white color looked gorgeous on her. Cut of the dress draw attention to her lovely hourglass shape and white was good backround to her sash. One of her best and classier looks imho!

  34. Silvia looks stunning! I couldn't love her gown more. It is so perfect for her. I think it is one of my favorite things I have seen her wear. The champagne tone looks soft and regal, and I really like they way the smooth, shine of the dress is juxtaposed with the texture of the jacket. I think she knows how good she looks.

Letizia's gown looks cheap because it is. H&M Conscious is a Swedish brand favored by Victoria. It cost $400 US. Letizia wore it as a nod to her host country. Of real importance is her jewelry. I can overlook the dress for those bracelets! My final thought is about the dress being sleeveless. I can't see why it makes any difference if the dress had sleeves or not. She was not gallivanting outside in the cold. She looked perfectly warm. I think it was more important to her to wear the H&M gown than to wear something else with sleeves. For some, if it is alright with Queen Elizabeth, it is alright for all royals. The gown Beatrice wore for her wedding was first worn by the Queen on 11 December, 1962 to the London premier of Lawrence of Arabia. In case you don't remember, the gown was sleeveless.

I liked Victoria in this gown the first time she wore it and was not disappointed to see it again. It is more modern than we usually see her wear. The colors look great on her. I would have been interested in seeing the one shouldered design on her. I usually think Victoria could use a little more color on her face and this time is no exception. Her tiara is a nice choice with the gown. Sofia wears white well. It has been mentioned that her gown looks a little tight. Well, I am not surprised. She recently had her third child. Give her some time. I think she looks great. She looks like she is glowing. ~d

  35. And the winner is : Queen Sylvia. Her evening gown is elegant, sophisticated, beautiful, . . . Hair and make-up are perfect.
CPVictoria : the shape of her dress is very good, but the embroided flowers are a bit too busy.
PSofia : lovely in her white dress, but it is too tight. The bow on her shoulder seems to be higher than on the model.
QLetizia : not what I expected. The dress does nothing for her. Cap sleeves or long sleeves would have been better. About the color : she replaced black by navy. Lighter and brighter colors are better for her dark hair and eyes.

  43. With such a large tiara, Queen Letizia should have chosen a dress with sleeves and it does not fit very well with the season in Sweden, even though the dress is Swedish design from H&M. ( from the Spring collection 🤔?)

    1. However she is from Spain, she could have worn a great Spanish gown , as we have proper heating into the Palaces. It seems not there.

    2. The season? Are not heating in Sweden? In Spain we attend galas without sleeves..

    3. Gala dresses do NOT have seasons. White tie and tails dinners are always full gala. Elegant, expensive dresses, often low cut, sleeveless, true ballroom dresses. An older lady like Queen Silvia will choose sleeves. Sofia's dress is not a true gala dress, more what you can see at less formal events with back tie.

  44. Seems like ages ago that we last saw the Cameo Tiara and I'm ever so glad that it appeared again, a perfect match to the gown Queen Silvia is wearing. Devine. I think that the Aquamarine Tiara matches the dress of CP Victoria equally as well, however, it's her severe hair-style that makes that great tiara look a bit out of place and proportion. Big gunner for Queen Letizia, I expected nothing less. But then the large Fleur-de-Lys Tiara often looks overwhelming on her, as it does here. Pss Sofia also as expected, still it's a good look on her. I hope she will appear in a different tiara at the Nobel Prize Ceremonies soon. The Swedish have so many tiaras to choose from that it rarely gets boring. This time, the surprise was the Cameo Tiara .

  45. QSilvia present an amazing colour, I would like to see the bottom part of the dress without those 2 pairs of tweezers/seams that came from her waist, but the top is gorgeous and the tiara is perfect on this look, I just love it!
QLetizia looks also very good with this look, IMO she presents a perfect look but not amazing, because normally she just rock, and here she really looks nice but not amazing. Probably because this is not the type of dress that I prefer to see on her and in this case she is a great guest once she do not overshadow.
PVictoria look so beautiful, as some already said probably it would look nicer with other tiara, however I for me it´s a very good look, specially the colour combination between the dress and the aquamarines.
PSofia it’s looks so nice and beautiful, and the photo where she appears seat by the table show a such lovely looking that make a great pic moment.

  46. Wow what a treat, tiaras are coming back and for this State visit they did not dissapoint.

Queen Silvia - Simply stunning one of my favorite looks of the night. Im glad Queen Silvia brought the Cameo tiara as its a gorgeous piece of jewelry with great history. The pearl earnings and brooch complemented the gown.

Queen Letizia - With the Italian state visit last week I was hoping she would bring the big guns and she did!!! I like the dark blue gown she chose as CP Victoria had worn it last year and I loved it. I would have added some sleeves since the weather is cold and that would have made the whole look better.

Crown Princess Victoria - The flower gown was a great pick in my opinion, its stunning. I think the yellow sash combined beautifully with the long flowy dress. The only negative for me would be the tiara. I love the aquamarine kokoshnik, but her tight bun hairstyle does not go well with that tiara. A softer hairstyle would have looked better.

Princess Madeleine is still for me the best wearer of this piece.

Princess Sofia - I really liked Sofia's dress as it was clean and elegant. Her make-up was simple, but nice something I would have gone with myself. The white was a little bright, but overall she looked beautiful. Her personal tiara is one of my favorites as it is so versatile. Nonetheless I wish she would have donned a different tiara, I know she has options at her dispossal because of past tiara events. The same look over and over again gets boring.

I hope the Swedish royal ladies will pull all the stops at the Nobel Prize Ceremony next month. I can't wait!!!

  49. It is striking that Spanish-language writers on this blog absolutely do not appreciate it when Queen Letizia's fashion is criticized once, while she generally gets the best fashion press of all the royals. After a word of criticism, everyone who does not speak Spanish immediately gets a fierce reaction. To be clear, any criticism of one's body is inappropriate; at any royal!

    Q. Letizia looks fabulous, lovely of her to support Swedish fashion. Her jewellery choice is wonderful, gorgeous tiara, but those earrings and bracelets are divine. Q. Silvia look incredible, her choice of Cameo tiara, blending in well with her gown, the choice of pearl drop earrings was clever, that was all that was needed. Pss Sofia looks lovely, I like this style of gown, but I don't like the heavy or stretch material.

  52. I think all has been said already, a bunch of stylish people with amazing orders and jewels. Perhaps what needs to be mentioned is not one photo with a nice friendly and warm look from Letizia including arrival and gala. I find this totally weird and I am starting to believe that she really is not bonding with the rest of Gotha as alluded to in the European magazines. The SRF is down to earth and very friendly, of course led by QS, who is such a warm person.

  53. QS looks the best I have ever seen her. Her gown is beyond beautiful and the matching of the cameo tiara is perfection.

I am not thrilled with Victoria's look here. The tiara is too low, though I appreciate the match attempt to the gown.

I think Sophie's dress looks a tad too tight but otherwise she looks lovely. Her wedding tiara was very thoughtfully created.

OL: yes the tiara is slightly too large for her. I am not thrilled with the sleeveless look but she likes it. She certainly looks lovely.

  54. I LOVE P. Victoria's gown!! It's like a " walking flower garden". P. Sophia looks so pretty too in her white gown. Q. Letizia looks nice but nothing like her state banquet appearance in U.K. where she absolutely dominated!! I am so happy that Tiara appearances have returned. I enjoy seeing the gowns!!

  55. je les trouve toutes magnifiques ! mais... Sofia a toujours le même diadème ! ne pourrait-on pas lui en prêter un de temps en temps ? Victoria et Madeleine se les échangent souvent....

  56. The Queen looks lovely. It is not new that Queen Letizia includes some item from her host country when she travels. Because the maker of this dress is H&M, it immediately looks 'cheap' to those who believe that luxury brands are classy. Perhaps it is the wearer and not the dress? It should be seen for what it is, support of Sweden's sustainable fashion industry. Sometimes the message conveyed by an outfit is much more important than being ready for the pages of Vogue. Had she borrowed it from her MIL ...showers of praise from these same detractors. The comments about her arms are interesting. The doctors have said that women of a certain age should include weight training into their exercise routine to keep their bones strong, but the thoughtless comments on this lady continue, even though her mother and sister look much the same, and at least one of her girls has her bone structure.
All of the other ladies look great. The tendency to pick winners and by default a loser, is too tempting to resist for those who engage women in competition against each other over clothes, still, in 2021.
QS dress is pretty and in line with someone of her age. CP Victoria's gown is festive, but the train is too much. Sophia's gown fits perfectly, but another color besides bright white could have been a better option.

  57. @Just a reader/I am a reader. This state visit has brought out a flock of commenters from that other blog to expose themselves on an international scale. Many comments have nothing to do with the visit. Once only has to read the comment section in Van.. to see the brutal responses that are left unmoderated to humiliate or harass this woman.
It is not that once the queen is criticized that some Spanish commenters are unappreciative, it is that they are tired of the relentless bad mouthing for 17 years! after each act from mothers and grandmothers who complain about a lack of 'class' but have no class themselves. It either pays well or is a badge of honor to be Anti-Letizia.

  59. Maybe one has to think about the sometimes poor work conditions in foreign countries and the environnemental problems the fashion industry causes.
