On November 6, the Akishino family, that is, Crown Prince Akishino, Crown Princess Kiko, Princess Kako and Prince Hisahito, attended the funeral of Crown Princess Kiko's father, Professor Tatsuhiko Kawashima, held at his home in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
The funeral was limited to close family according to Professor Kawashima's wishes. Former Princess Mako and her husband Kei Komuro also attended the funeral. Tatsuhiko Kawashima, the father of Crown Princess Kiko and a professor at Gakushuin University in Tokyo, died at a Tokyo hospital on Thursday at the age of 81.
ReplyDeleteIt appeared that way to me as well. If that is true, I find that shameful. They may find it necessary to follow these archaic rules when events happen within the Imperial family, but this is a private family matter. I hope I am wrong in this case. ~d
DeleteQuite a relief that Kako and Kei (probably no alternative to this way to refer to them now) attended.
ReplyDeleteMako and Kei...
DeleteI wanted to add, good that Kei looked openly towards the camera, nobody else seems to do so, at least on these pictures.
