On November 4, 2021, Queen Letizia of Spain attended an official lunch at the Presidential Residence in Asuncion, hosted by President of Paraguay Mario Abdo Benitez and his wife Silvana Lopez Moreira. The Queen is making a 4-day working and cooperation visit to Paraguay to receive information about the work that the Spanish Cooperation carries out in Paraguay in the fields of health, education, culture and women.
The presidents's wife is beautiful and her outfit is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYes , indeed.
DeleteSilvana's outfit looks like something Letizia would wear. Meanwhile, Letizia has stayed focused on her mission. Most queens, most people, would have dressed for a lunch with the president and his wife. She is here to work! Fabulous! ~d
ReplyDeleteI agree. Fabulous.
DeleteRed and white is a classic combination that looks great on Letizia, but the vest is a bit shapeless, She has better outfits than this
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteThe vest is not "fashion", It is the "Spanish aid" uniform, please!! It is obvious, that It is not an "outfit"...if not a working vest.
DeleteLouise
Oh Lord! An outfit!! Can't you are the flags of the European Unión and Spain? It is the vest from the help expedition from Spain
DeletePl.
Are you joking, Hilda? It's her work outfit, not chosen by her. Please read first what it's about and comment then.
DeleteH.
Sandra F, she has not opted to change the outfit because políticas issues, she has stated It is a working and cooperation visit, not a diplomátic one.
DeleteElena
Sorry, I clearly misunderstood the situation. But the building seems very “presidential” to me, the lunch seems kind of official and It seems strange that the queen couldn’t find 10 minutes to change her clothes for lunch.
DeleteDoes anyone know where she stayed during the trip?
Again with the clothes? They are not important in this visit, if not the "aid"...many people in the world focused in nonsense, in that country the people is starving....and have not got any clothes...
DeleteLina
Hilda, after the insults in the country, no time for anything, at least she was polite and did attend "the lunch" ....
DeleteBy the way, the First Lady is in clothes to the beach...
Nina
I like the First Lady's crochet top (atleast it looks crocheted).
ReplyDeleteChel
Look at the First Lady's gesture in the first picture. I wonder what she is talking about. There's no smile in any of these pictures. Serious atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteThere have been polítical issues in this visit, It is not always easy "a Queen" in Latinoamérica.
DeleteElena
We cannot really see whether there were smiles or not because of masks. Looking at the gesture of welcome from the First Lady, I would be surprised that there were no smiles.
DeleteI guess The First lady Silvana López-Moreira is not at prent in the best of moods. Earlier this summer she suffered the tragic loss of her sister, her sister's husband and their three children. All five were killed when Champlain Towers South, a 12-story condominium building in the Miami suburb of Surfside, collapsed. Poor lady, I don't know how one can get over a tragedy like that.
DeleteLetizia should have changed for lunch, it would have been more respectful!
ReplyDeleteshe was invited to the presidential palace and showed up in her hiker boobs and field work clothes. Really!!
W.
Palace in Paraguay? Do you happen to know where Paraguay is ? It is a cooperation visit to a poor country, that is the way to show respect, she would have been critizised there un a expensive outfit where people is starving. Can you ser what the first lady is wearing?
DeleteLina
Paragüay is in Central América, no palaces at all , a very poor country, because of that the Queen is there, to carry money and help.
DeleteShe has stated It is a working and cooperation visit, not a diplomátic one.
Elena
Another one kidding? Presidential Palaces in the third world? Have you ever seen the King of Paraguay?
DeleteB
many countries without kings and monarch call the president's residence a presidential palace eg
Deletefrance, russia, argentina.
needless to say she should changed from work clothing to something simple; dress
jill
@B let me inform you; if you google presidential palace you get alot of countries without kings (Turkey, Afghanistan, Poland...)
Deletestill, wear a dress, trousers, something suitable when invited for lunch.
W
In Paraguay there are not Palaces, presidential or not...she has been walking between very poor places...the places you have mentioned are not the third world...again ignorance. The Palaces what you could find are from the Spanish Empire...
DeleteShe did what the goventment of Spain said...It is a"working" visit for 4 days, she has have lunch many times...she did not want to be seen as a colonizer..
B
@W. In other pictures and news stories, the entire 'crew' all dressed in their vests were invited to the lunch as well as politicians and officials from Aid groups. It seems that the events ran consecutively on a tight schedule and ended with the lunch before QL said adios and returned to Spain. Perhaps she should have changed to be respectful to you?
DeleteHow times have changed? On one of her visits to Central America, the government organized a dinner which was preceded by an exhibition where local artisans were able to make their work visible on a world stage because the cameras followed the Queen from on table to another. She dressed up! ..in a beautiful black off the shoulder lace dress. skyscraper heels, styled hair.
(the videos are still online). In the Spanish media, she was branded a starlet, (in her 40's!!) acting like she was the monarch, overly glamorous in a poor country, blah, blah. Now all of that is gone, and it is all strictly business, but wait, she has leaned too far in the other direction. Not to mention that the same outfit everyday leaves the critics with the reason for the trip in the forefront. It seems there is a hard core group who will never be pleased no matter what she wears.
Wdk.
Palacio de López is a palace in Asunción, Paraguay, that serves as workplace for the President of Paraguay. that settles it.
Deletejill
La femme du président est vraiment superbe dans sa tenue dont le haut paraît crocheté. Même si Letizia est là pour sa mission, je l'aurais bien vue habillée moins classique pour cette invitation à déjeuner par le président et son épouse !
ReplyDeleteThe Queen is making a 4-day working and cooperation visit to Paraguay to receive information about the work that the Spanish Cooperation carries out in Paraguay in the fields of health, education, culture and women.
ReplyDeleteIt is not a diplomatic visit or something, she is focused in working, not in wearing dresses in a very poor country.
Lina
Q. Letizia was criticized by Deputee Amarilla of the Liberal Party, actually.
ReplyDeleteYes, the congresswoman criticized the queen, and although it’s her right to do so, her words were insulting and incredibly crass. She noted that if the queen would’ve gone to another country she would have dressed differently, she forgot to mention that the uniforms for the aid mission were commissioned to a Paraguayan company, and that this was an aid trip. The extreme left is anti monarchy and still blames Spain for the Colonization 500 years ago. I think she would have criticized the Queen regardless of her attire, because is political posturing, period. That being said, I am of the opinion that for this particular lunch she could have changed her uniform for a regular outfit, but I am sure that she followed the guidelines that the Government set for this trip, let’s remember that Spain is a Constitutional Monarchy, and The Royal House has to consult and conform with their current government.
ReplyDeleteCherry
Yes, Queen Letizia was insulted, in that country at least she attended the lunch.
DeleteNina
Cherry, she has not changed her clothes because the criticism, all the Spanish media has stated It.
DeleteNina
Cherry
DeleteYes, you are right.
I was in a hurry this morning and I just wrote a very short comment on the Deputee (10.17) .
I forgot to put the P. at the end.
P.
Cherry, Spain actually is a Parliamentary Monarchy...not a Constitutional one. This model of parliamentary monarchy is found in parts of Western Europe (e.g. Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden) and in Cambodia, Japan, Malaysia and Thailand.
DeleteNina
@Cherry. It was appalling that is woman cannot tell the difference between the princesses and queens in a Disney movie and a person who is there to serve the underserved in her country! If Letizia owns 10,000 euro dresses, they are very few, and she certainly never arrives in any country wearing such a thing. What is worse is that she went to the same Penafiel style tropes to insult the Queen, that she was poor girl who the prince fell in love with and implying that now she acts as if she is too good to favor the Uruguayans with her best clothes, instead wearing the same vest as her guard and secretary. Very sad that this woman chooses to tear down another woman (her words will probably be recorded for history since this was done on the floor of their congress) over clothes.
DeleteTo their credit, the Uruguayan media all dressed (on air) in the red vests in support of the Queen, and criticized the deputy. The Uruguayan company that made the vests has received several orders and has even changed their slogan to "we make vests for queens, guards and secretaries".
Ava
I just want to add that Q.Letizia went to Paraguay on an aid trip, but she was there on behalf of the King of Spain and the Government.
DeleteThis means that a Head of State , the King, was insulted as well and it is the meanest thing I have ever seen. No colonization memories can justify for the Deputee' s crass speech.
This is harmful to relationships between the two countries IMO.
P.
My apologies to the Queen for bad geography :( :( by making her visit two countries at the same time. However the point still stands. The Spanish media is also culpable. No surprise if others in foreign countries feel it is okay when the same thing is done at home on a daily basis.
DeleteOne poster wrote that Paraguay is in Central America , it isn’t ! It’s in South America and actually one of the handicrafts typical of the country is their lacemaking which looks a lot like crochet .
ReplyDeleteIt is in the Central part of Latinoamérica...It was only the translation to English.
DeleteB
pllorens
DeleteAgreed.
It is rather shocking to read such mistakes, isn't it?
Not to mention the palace and King story...
P.
One poster wrote that Paraguay is in Central America , it isn’t ! It’s in South America and actually one of the handicrafts typical of the country is their lacemaking which looks a lot like crochet .
ReplyDelete@ pllorens, there is no need to point that another reader has made a geographical mistake, it happens. Even adult people that can't locate countries on a map don't need some stranger correcting them, it's kind of rude. On the other hand I have never seen anybody commenting on your technology abilities, since most of your comments are always " published " 3 times.
DeleteOne poster wrote that Paraguay is in Central America , it isn’t ! It’s in South America and actually one of the handicrafts typical of the country is their lacemaking which looks a lot like crochet .
ReplyDeleteShe looks fine - personally, I probably wouldn't have worn the Aid vest to the lunch itself just the clothes underneath but she is there for a specific purpose.
ReplyDeleteAs for the politician who criticised the Queen she could do with dialling it back on the clothes she wears - they're tasteless and far beyond the budget of the majority of her fellow citizens.
G
In many countries where the President lives it's called Presidential Palace, and Paraguay is not the exception. Actually you can Google and it's a very beautiful building.
ReplyDeleteActually It is not called "palace", only presidential residence, again you do not understand that the Palaces come from the Spanish Empire and It is what they criticise...what language do they speak there? Why?
DeleteÑ
@ nina, Spain is a Constitutional Monarchy with a Parlamentary System.
ReplyDeletePolitical science distinguishes between constitutional monarchy and parliamentary monarchy. In constitutional monarchies, the king retains executive power. On the other hand, in parliamentary monarchies, the executive power comes from the legislature, which is elected by the citizens, the monarch being an essentially symbolic figure.
DeleteNina and other names
ReplyDeleteParliamentary or Constitutional Monarchy are synomims, the first being the less usual definition.
Please, when you google something to give the impression you know legislation, at least do it well.
P.
A parliamentary monarchy is a political system where the function of head of state (heads of state and government) is vested in a hereditary or elected monarch while a government accountable to the elected Parliament exercises the bulk of the executive powers, determines national policies and oversees their implementation. The term ‘parliamentary monarchy’ is not used frequently in constitutional texts. Examples are the Constitution of the Kingdom of Spain which in Art. 1(3) proclaims the parliamentary monarchy as the ‘political form’ of the Spanish State (‘La...
DeleteNot really darling, and I am a lawyer....not synonims at all....you should learn a bit more..they two different systems..
Nina
P, ...Canada and Australia are Parliamentary Monarchiest too...It is not the same. There are Constitutional Monarchiest that are not Parliamentary

DeleteA ver, P..., corazón, no son sinónimos, de hecho en las monarquías parlamentarias el rey no tiene poder ejecutivo, en las constitucionales sí. Esto se estudia en el colegio, no hace falta google.
DeleteMaría
You for sure don't know legislation... Stick on fashion pls.
DeleteGabriela.
Nina ...and the other names
DeleteI was talking only about the Spanish Monarchy, which you di not get at all in my comment 6/11/21- 08:23.
Generally speaking, I already know the difference between Parliamentary vs Constitutional monarchies.
As Sandra F.said , Spain is a Constitutional Monarchy with a Parliamentary System.
The two definitions Constitutional/ Parliamentary are often used as synonims.
Period.
You don' t need to invent all these names and write posts in English and Spanish- which I understand- just to create useless controversies as usual.
You could spare us all the paste and copy posts taken from the Internet and the lawyer story as well as your neverending rude tone.
Thank you.

DeleteNot very respectful of Letizia to wear such clothes to a lunch with a head of state. Sorry, but I think she is posing a little too hard with that uniform. She could have other clothes "made in paraguay".
ReplyDeleteRespecful? After the insults against, the Queen and all the Spaniards? She could have avoid It. It was not a lunch for Letizia, if not for all the expedición.
DeleteÑ
It was a meal for all the Spanish Cooperation team, not for Letizia. Letizia was in behalf of the Spanish goventment, for aid, not a diplomatic visit. No other country goes to Paraguay to offer help. And we were insulted... enough! I wonder what other Queens would have done.

I am glad I decided several weeks ago not to react anymore on issues that have nothing to do with fashion. Is this site not a fashion site in the first place and not a site where everybody can speak out their pro's and contra's against queens and kings and politics in their own country and abroad ?
