Princess Charlene has stayed in South Africa since May after she fell ill due to an ear-nose-throat infection. Since then, she has been unable to return to Monaco. Princess Charlene finally returned to Monaco this morning on November 8. After a ten-hour night flight from South Africa, the Princess arrived at dawn at Nice airport. By helicopter, she travelled from Nice to Monaco. The Princess wore a cashmere sweater dress by Loro Piana.
On the tarmac of the Monegasque heliport, Prince Albert II, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella welcomed their wife and mother with a gigantic bouquet of flowers. The couple and their children had not reunited, all four, since August. The Princess also brought back from Africa a new dog, a male Rhodesian Ridgeback. The dog was given as a gift to the Princess after the death of her Chihuahua last October.
Last March, the Princess went on a trip of a few days to South Africa. An ear-nose-throat infection forced her to stay in the country and to undergo several operations under general anesthesia during the last eight months.
Welcom Princesse Charlene
ReplyDeleteHow happy the children are! All the best for all of them!

@Jill. I think what you are seeing (fashion wise) is an eclectic combination of a knitted skirt or maybe bloomers and a throw over knitted top.
DeleteIt looks like an off beat creation from a South African designer.
I love it. It comes out looking smart in its unusualness.
And yes, it's good to see her back with her family and I missed her also.
I think Charlene is dressed comfortably for her trip, what is wrong unless too much freedom away from classic rules ? Welcome back Charlene ; personally I think you are always quite nicely dressed. You have your own style, it is great. Be happy with your lovely family.
DeleteIt's a cashmere sweater dress by Loro Piana. Very warm and comfortable, but also elegant - a perfect choice for a long flight. The coat looks weird though.
DeleteHer children look very happy.
ReplyDeleteJust a photo, a snapshot, but one wish he would have looked more welcoming to her.
ReplyDeleteThe children seem reliefed
Agreed.
DeleteOne time her children will Understand, why she was not allowed to stay with them.
Beg the universe for all the best for this little family.
Welcome back to Princess Charlene, hoping her health will be good now. And that's a lovely handbag !

Ravie du retour de Charlène sur le rocher au milieu de sa petite famille ; le chien qui lui a été offert fait vraiment plus rustique que le chihuahua qu'elle a perdu !
ReplyDeleteet alors...?
DeleteAlors rien...
DeleteA pointless contribution from you - as usual.

I'm surprised at Charlene's transition from small dogs to a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Somehow, a Ridgeback would seem out of place in Monaco. JMO, of course. ~Laurel~
DeletePrince Rainier always had big dogs. Princess Charlene spends quite a bit of time at Roc Agel where there is plenty of land.

I don't think anybody has to make a show of affection publicly. But I can't help to notice the children hanging on to their father (this is spontaneous, not arranged). Being 6 years old so many months are a very long time and trust is so important. - (-Ann.)
ReplyDelete@Ann, and as usual you like to put the cherry on top. I suppose being unkind is in you nature?
DeleteC
@Anonymous C., what does your opinion about my "nature" have to do with what we are talking about? Nothing, nothing ... nothing at all. So stick to the topic of this blog, will you.
DeleteAs to Charlenes outfit, she was flying 10 hours during the night and of course not in haute couture but in soft and comfortable clothing. Good on her, if she did not change just for the sake of fashion bloggers and one or two reporters. (-Ann.)
Maybe the reason the children are clinging to Prince Albert is that Princess Charlene is walking the new dog in at least 2 photos. I do not blame Princess Charlene for wearing loose clothes to travel 10 hours. Time to get back to the role of First Lady of Monaco.....can't wait!
Delete@-Ann To quote you, "stick to the topic of this blog, will you"? You "can't help to notice the children hanging on to their father (this is spontaneous, not arranged)." I can't see what that has to do with fashion, on a fashion blog of all things. Again, to quote you, "[n]othing, nothing ... nothing at all." Off topic comments happen. They are bound to. Charlene coming home to Monaco is big news and there are many thoughts. I think when we make comments beyond the topic of fashion, we open ourselves to rebuttal, especially when they are controversial. We need to expect it, not be offended by it. You made a comment about the behavior of children in a unique, difficult and public situation. When called out for it, you clapped back. Adding the note about fashion at the end of your second comment fell short. I think that needed to be your lead. The truth is that we are not privy to the full story. We know that Charlene's health was compromised, she and the children obviously suffered the from separation, and Albert really stepped up as a father. Anything beyond that is none of our business. They are entitled to have privacy. Wishing the family all the best. ~d
DeleteI don't think this was an unkind remark - as a mother, I wondered how my own children would have dealt with the long separation and I would have expected them to hang back a little because it takes some time to get reaquainted with a parent you haven't seen for such a long time. It's absolutely to be expected that it will take them a while to "warm" to her, and I hope for them all that this time of them all getting reaquainted to each other will pass quickly and smoothly. All the best to them!
DeleteNB: I love her clothes, stylish AND comfy, not everybody can pull this off.
DeleteOh, Mimi, that sounds heartbreaking! Sorry you and your family had to go through that!
DeleteI think our moderator will bear with us if we go a bit off topic and give fashion secondary importance on this occasion.
ReplyDeleteI hope the health of Princess Charlène will continue to improve and that with the strength and help of her family/s both Grimaldi and Wittstock, that she will find the strength and force to fulfull her role as The Princess of Monaco plus mother to two delightful children and wife to His Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco.
I'm cheering for her.
O.K. just a couple of words on fashion. Princess Charlene has used South African fashion designers in the past and I hope she will continue to support their work and use their talents to create superb gowns for galas and other occasions.
Will be good for our blog and a bit of a change from Dior and company.
Information on one of the South African designers she has used can be found on ........

DeleteMy NEW Royals is not only a blog about fashion and fashion comes first .... though you mention it critically in many comments.
Maybe it was once, but now with this new title .... you get plenty og informations about the events, occations etc.
And in this case PC's fashion design was not mentioned and known in first edition.

I truly feel for her. We don't know exactly how she is doing and what she's been through. Even if all the nasty rumours were false, she surely has had a hard and difficult time.
ReplyDeleteI wish she'll recover completely and find love, luck, happiness and health again! 🌸
I agree with you, Rosalyn. Whatever was going on, it must have been hard for her. The positive thing is that she got herself another dog - they do tend to make life better with their unconditional love and trust.
DeleteFashionwise - I just love what she is wearing!
Agree with both of you Rosalyn and Ana Katerina.
DeleteVery happy that she is back with her husband and children in Monaco (and new dog) and I wish her all the best going forward.
(PS. I too love what she is wearing. Her long and lean frame is perfect for those kind of pieces.)

Wonderful news. I was right about this week. So happy for her...
ReplyDeleteAt last the day that we had all been waiting for has finally arrived! God bless this lovely family.
ReplyDeleteHome with her family ! No better place to be, to recover and get herself 100% well ! Good to have her back ! Ana
ReplyDeleteAuf diese Nachricht und Bilder habe ich lange gewartet. Alles wird gut!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for the children.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see Princess Charlene back in Monaco. So pleased I'll not even comment on the strange selection of clothing she's wearing! She looks less fragile than the last photos posted in South Africa so here's wishing her a continued recovery and better health in the future.
ReplyDelete@ Anne… looks to me that you were the one off topic, stating by just looking at a couple of pictures that the kids somehow are more attached to their father. You psychological evaluation is just moot, and unnecessary. Have you met any military families? Well separation occurs often from either parent, and children tend to be very well adjusted. In the other hand you do tend to pepper your comments with a little bit of sanctimoniousness.
ReplyDeleteC
I thought of military families as well. ~d
DeleteWhat a joy to see dearest Charlene back to Monaco and with her family!!
ReplyDeleteI missed her.
Wishing her a complete recovery and a lot of happy moments with her marvellous children who have been reunited with their mum at last.
This beautiful dog Is reportedly a gift from Charlene for her kids.
I think I' ll be forgiven for not talking about fashion.
The emozional moments captured in these pics say it all and I could not be happier for
all of them.
Please dear Princess Charlene, take your time to rest and savour being back at home.
You will shine again in your public role as Princess of Monaco in due time.
P.
How wonderful to see Charlene reunited with her husband and children! You can see the happiness on everyone's faces--even through their masks. Charlene is certainly looking better--and I love her dress. Yes, her coat is a bit odd-looking but maybe that's because she's wearing a sweater dress--sometimes fabrics can be resistannt to each other. The best thing though is she is finally home!
ReplyDeleteThe new pup could be a Vizsla. That breed is in the same family as the Rhodesian Ridgeback.
ReplyDelete=Annie=
Wishing P Char and her family all the best as they reconnect on her healing journey.
ReplyDeleteHer ensemble looks absolutely stylish, cozy, and perfect for travel.
Wonder what they'll name their new puppy? I'm sure the newest member of the family will bring much joy and adventuresome moments.

She is...Sun....Integrity...Style...with the lovely dog🙏🏻🐾No money can buy... Honesty...Respect...and no "Brand names"...can define..her...- please handle with care.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is Italian designed, the dog is large and scary for a six year old. Hence they are clinging on to their dad. They will love the ridgeback in time. They are very gentle. And in the picture of the whole family, the children are both clinging on to their mother's arm. I agree with someone's comment about the coat being strange, but perhaps it was nice to have when traveling. I have a cloak for such events which doubles up as a knee blanket when waiting for flights, trains etc. That might have worked better for Charlene. Bonne chance to them all. It's a hell of a life being in a goldfish bowl.
ReplyDeleteYes I am very dubious about the dog, and particularly introducing it straight away, while other things are going on; it can be scary. The children probably still had in mind the small chihuahua.
DeleteUnknown 07:54 - well said.
DeleteI love Princess Charlene. I hope she is okay and the last thing I care about is what she is wearing! She is so beautiful! Get well Princess!
