  1. Ces dames sont bien élégantes, chacune dans son propre style - Marta Louise est délicieuse avec les améthystes que Mette-Marit a dû lui prêter ; un véritable régal avec ses yeux bleus !

All the ladies look lovely in their own styles.
I always liked Maxima in this dress and the chiffon cape is a beautiful touch for a Fall wearing of it. Her hair and tiara look fantastic.
Mette Marit is a vision in white as she always is. That is definitely her colour as we all know. Funny how the top styling of her dress is very similar to that of the brown dress she wore earlier in the day to welcome her visitors.
Pale lilac brings out the colour of Princess Martha Louise's stunning eyes and she wears that style of strapless dress very well even though it looks a bit dated. Queen Sonja's dress is probably my least favourite; the top is beautifully fitting on her but the skirt is too full for a hip flare or train. Might have been better if it had flared from the waist. The colour and fabric is beautiful and Queen Sonja is a stunning lady and one of my fav royals.

  5. The dresses are beautiful. The tiaras are spectacular; all those gem stones ,I presume they are all real. Gems are like furs so rare; how many lives were lost getting them out of the ground; they have a real history. Those royal are clinging on to the last bastions. King Harold has a few medals. (Tara)

  6. Sad to see that Sonja's tiara is way off kilter. Did she not look in a mirror? Did nobody else notice? Other than that, everybody looks wonderful. And WOW for Máxima wearing her stunning inaugural tiara! She looks beautiful! No Auntie Astrid? I love seeing Astrid; I hope she is well. ~Laurel~

  7. So nice to see all this elegance. I think everyone looks great, but Maxima is the most stunning. She wears these gowns and tiaras like no one else.

    1. Yes, agree. It's interesting, she's not royal by birth but on such occasions she appeares more royal looking than anybody, she flurishes on royal tiara events.

  8. Love Maxima’s dress. Happy to see it again. The color graduation is gorgeous. Beautiful jewels. Her hair and make-up are flawless. Sonja looks elegant and regal. I like how the daisy embroidery in M.M.’s dress is a subtle nod to the daisy motif in her tiara. Her earrings are gorgeous. I think her lip color could be slightly bolder. Martha Louise looks great. The amethyst tiara is gorgeous. I don’t like her necklace.

  9. Finally some Royal glitter again! Wonderful jewels and gowns all around, except Queen Sonja's lime green horror. She is one of my favourites and can do so much better. I would love to see the emerald parure worn with a dusty pink gown.
PS: On TV Crown Princess Mette-Marit's tiara was sparkeling much more than Queen Maxima's towering tiara.

  10. Queen Maxima looks gorgeous. I'm so happy to see this beautiful gown again. It fits her so well and the colors look mysterious and fantastic. All other royal ladies look also very lovely. And look at those big glittering tiaras and jewellery. Its awsome to see them worn again.

  11. WOW and triple WOW for Máxima, these are the occasions where she shines the most, the dress is regal and not overdone at all, it emphasizes her statuesque figure, the jewels are to die for, hair and makeup right on point. Fantastic!!
Mette Marit & Martha Louise look Ok, but unremarkable. Big no for Sonja’s dress, unflattering both in color and style.

Queen Maxima looks sensational. Her sapphire and diamond jewels are splendid, marvellous choice. Her gown is stunning. Tiara hair is perfect, makeup is spot on.. A lovely finishing touch is the delicate, Sapphire and diamond brooch. I have never seen her look more divine. Queen Sonja's jewels are beautiful. Love the gown on Pss Martha, lovely soft lilac colour, suits her perfectly. The Amethyst jewels looked wonderful.

  13. Can someone tell/ learn me about the "ribbons" they all wear in red/blue and orange? I don't know what they are called.
    Even the pair's are different?

    1. Both King Harald and Queen Sonja carry the sash to the Order of the Netherlands Lion, and I guess also the star belonging to it (a bit difficult to see, since the colours on the stars do not come across clearly).

CP Mette-Marit wears the sash to the Order of Orange-Nassau, while P Märtha Louise wears the sash to the Order of the Crown (The Netherlands).

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima both carry the Norwegian order the Order of St.Olav.

    2. Check out The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor on orderofsplendor.blogspot.com. Nothing new has been added for the last couple of years ( miss you) but all the old posts are still there. It is a treasure trove ! You'll find EVERYTHING on royal tiaras and other jewellery, wedding dresses, heirloom veils etc and I am sure you will find inf on the different ribands of the orders they wear

    3. Order sashes. Usually the visiting party wears the orders given to them (on other occasions, mainly) by the host country. They differ by rank and also which particular order they received. Vice versa where the hosting party is concerned. So, the Dutch are wearing Norwegian orders and the Norwegians are wearing Dutch orders. All state visit work like that, mostly of course those involving reigning monarchs.

  14. Martha Louise, looked wonderful this afternoon in the red suit, and lovely this evening in the lavendar necklace, earrings, and tiara.
MM was exquisite in the white gown with the top in such delicate floral embroidery. pearl drop earrings, and a lovely crown.
Queen Sonja, was warmly received in her bright green evening gown with everything going on with the top portion, and then the flounce, or poof/train in the back. Her jewels were to die for!!!!!!
Queen Maxima looked well put together in a dress she's worn before. He crown and jewelry were exquisite. Her hair style, makeup and cape topped off a well put together evening gown outfit. The gentlemen all looked handsome, except for MM's husband who was under the weather, but played it safe, rather than be sorry. Everyone looked elegant, regal, and beautiful each in their own manner. annie

  15. The lime green color looks good on QS and the top part of the dress looks good on her; regarding the lower part of it, it seems a bit too loose to me...too much fabric?

Not a fan of PMM dress. I'm in the minority on this blog, but I don't like seeing her in white that much. Although the strip is beautifully embroidered, this strip would look much better on a sweater. The top part of the dress does not fit well.

PML looks pretty in this lilac dress, but I don't think her jewelry goes well with it. To me it's a clash of styles.

Although I like the closed cape better, QM looks fantastic; nothing more to change, magnifique!

  16. I agree on the vommens above, all attendees look stunning, they have gone all in on this event!

A lot is going on with Queen Sonias outfit, too much in my opinion. The dress should be worn at occasions where it stands alone, with all the jewelry it is just all too much.

CO M-M looks wonderful, a great white gown that makes her look so beautiful.

Yes, Märtha Louise is more beautiful than ever and the color of the dress suits her so well, but I agree, the dress is a bit dated.

Queen Maxima really is stunning in her tiara!!

  17. Last saturday someone labeled Queen Maxima's green daydress "dated". But everyone is lyrical about Martha Louise's 80's dress. The dress doesn't fit very well, the hairstyle is too youthfull for a woman her aged and ML's posture (picture 1) is also lacking. I wonder why nobody is critical about this?

    1. I can't find anything "lacking" in her overall appearance. Personal taste and preferences, maybe? She presents herself nicely, her hair is adequately done, the tiara is well-placed, the dress might be an older one, but it looks very good on her. So, it's all about opinion, isn't it?

  18. Queen Maxima may not be the greatest fashion icon when it comes to daywear but regarding evening gowns she's one of the best. However, I've never been the greatest fan of this sheer cape thing. Queen Sonja likes to wear gowns that have been in her wardrobe for a long time. This one is no exception, although, paired with the famous emeralds, it makes for a good, albeit typical, look. CP Mette-Marit in a white gown once again. It's beautiful, without question, but I would so much like to see her in a really bold and strong colour for a change. Again, Princess Märtha-Louise wins this for me, just like she did with her red suit in the afternoon. The amethysts just go so well together with her beautiful, near to perfect gown.

  21. I really do wonder how in the world anyone can prefer Martha Louise’s dress over Máxima’s. ML’s is dated (funny that Máxima’s green dress on Saturday was called shiny and dated, but somehow this 80’s lavender dress gets a pass), ill fitting (look at picture 1; is she wearing undergarments at all?) and her posture is nowhere to be seen.

    2. I have to agree with you. I don’t dislike Martha- Louise‘a dress, but it doesn’t look fresh. Maxima on the other hand looks amazing. She shines at these formal events.

    3. I agree on all points. It was shiny, dated and ill fitting. The top, group photo, her posture is awful. You can see the lack of good tailoring in the photo with her walking with MM, the bunching between the waist and bust. The fabric is very 80's.

  22. Maxima always looks the best in this type of affairs, she loves to dress up and wear great jewelry. Sonya is a fail for me the color and shape doesn't do her any favors. Mette Marit and Martha Louise's dresses seem too stiff, shiny, and old fashioned. All the tiaras are excellent.

  23. What joy to see all the glitz and glamour back again. The gowns and tiaras. All look fantastic, Queen Maxima is just perfection and I love Princess Martha Louise's elegant lavender coloured dress. Queen Sonja is always elegant but I'm not a huge fan of lime green and the dress is on the fussy side. Crown Princess Mette Marit's dress is lovely but like MCS and DSC, I think she looks so much better in bright colours. Although all the jewels are gorgeous, I prefer the smaller tiaras of the Princesses rather than those of the Queens. What a great set of photos. Real feel good factor
