The 29th Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony took place on Friday 22 October at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo, the capital of the Principality of Asturias. King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Crown Princess Leonor, Infanta Sofia and former Queen Sofia were present at the award ceremony. Queen Letizia wore a new dress from The 2nd Skin Co.
The Princess of Asturias Awards are presented each year by The Princess of Asturias Foundation to persons or organizations from around the world who have made notable achievements in the sciences, humanities, and public affairs, for the purpose of making contribution to those scientific, cultural and humanistic values that form part of the universal heritage of humanity.

Lovely Sophia, out of the shadow of her beautifull older sister here in her “ ballerina” combi.
ReplyDeleteQueen: exquisite, and Leonor in a lovely dress and ponytail.
What a family!
Josh
Agreed, what a beautiful family display! Letizia's dress is stunning, and Sofia looks absolutely beautiful. I don't think King Felipe could be any more handsome.
DeleteChel
For a family who are generally well coordinated, this seems like a strange mix of outfits. Queen Sofia's outfit is pleasant, appropriate and suits her. I like the idea of Princess Leonor's dress but, because of the ruffle, think it would be better if a little longer. The Queen's dress is impressive but seems very grand for this event. Infanta Sofia's dress has potential but this time could be a little shorter and these shoes are even uglier than the one's she previously wore. A good looking family always.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Leonor’s dress is two inches too short, and the Queen looks like a Barbie doll in the too full and too dressy option (IMHO). The Queen looks perfect from the waist up.
DeleteGrand? This is the most important event in Spain for the Monarchy, there is not something like that.
DeleteLouise
Agree with all your remarks.
DeleteMarcy
And some people are "agreed" when they do not even understand this is a Ceremony, as Louise said the most important in Spain, as the Nobel Awards in Sweden, It is International, the ignorance is terrible..
DeleteMW
Audrey Hepburn vibes from the Queen.
ReplyDeleteDP
The Queen looks beautiful as usual.
ReplyDeleteThe young Princesses they are at that age they are experimenting with fashion and finding their style.
The skirt is too long as she is short wasted, if it was a little shorter it may have balanced the outfit better.
The other dress could have been a little longer, however looking closely at the dress the fabric was lovely.
I think that black dress would look amazing on The Duchess of Cambridge with her slender figure and height.
That black dress looks fabulous on Queen Letizia because she has a small waist and an innate elegance. I don't think Kate could handle it as well as Letizia.
DeleteSusana
There is no comparison. Letizia is elegant, takes risks, and wears her big game dresses with confidence. As an example this is not the first time we have see Letizia wear petticoats to increase the volume of a dress. Kate is not a standard bearer in fashion. She plays it safe, so it is unlikely that she would wear a dress like this, or look amazing in it.
DeleteM
Letizia brings the glamour every year and this is no different. The princessy dress, the chatons, the double diamond bracelets! Everyone else. sit down, the queen has arrived. Sofia's ballerina outfit, bun and fly away hair make her look like a mini Mom. She even debuted some jewelry. Pretty girl. The shoes are appropriate with the outfit.
ReplyDeleteThe detail of Leonor's dress is actually the black bow at the back enclosure, and it is indeed a couple of inches too short but teenagers can get away with these things.
Anaone
It looks like Letizia is about to lose her petticoats. ~Laurel~
ReplyDeleteThey are definitely a mixed bag, but, separately, all look very nice. If they all matched, that would be boring. Letizia jewels are certainly not boring! She brought out the big guns for this very important event. Brava!
ReplyDeleteLetizia's dress is stunning! It is beautifully complimented by the "joyas de pasar" diamond bracelets, which have made appearances at this event in the past. I like to think Felipe wore a pink tie to celebrate his beautiful girls. Leonor looks more poised and comfortable each time I see her the center of attention. I thought I spied Gloria Steinem in a picture of the laureates, and was surprised to find out it was in fact Gloria. ~d

Wonderful dress that only Queen Letizia can wear. It is spectacular. Leonor is a beauty. For me, the most beautiful princess in Europe, also now she will go little by little, trying with fashion and she is an angel, so everything looks good on her.
DeleteSofia is a girl, and she is also beautiful
Susana
The queen is always looking so bossy, just look at her eyes, no matter she is so thin, always under pression, tension. Not easy for her husbund and her kids either.
ReplyDeleteWhy bring your grievances here, reading her eyes for bossiness when that other blog specializes in this type of comment? 17 years of this nonsense must be exhausting for her. Everyone else has commented on the dresses. A little knowledge of fashion or about Asturias in general?
Delete@ unknown... and how do you know all this?.. do you live in the palace?
DeleteI think you should go back to troll the Queen in those dubious Spanish antimonarchist blogs.
WOW...and you have had personal interaction with Letizia so you know all this to be fact...NO, I don't think so. Not just unknown but unknowing.
DeleteMeghan
ReplyDeleteThe top SofĆa is wearing belongs to Letizia, she premiered It in 2011 at a gala dinner.

Con tan pocas fotos de buena calidad, de un evento tan importante
ReplyDeleteen EspaƱa, mirando otras fotos destaco: Felipe y Letizia atractivos, elegantes,
They all look fabulous.

As a whole the family reaches its usual standards. The queen's dress is a success. Leonor has definitely reached the age of wearing mini fashion items, so the length is ok, however I am not really a fan of the print. Sofia managed a nice combination between the black top, a re-use apparently, and the ballerina skirt.
ReplyDelete@MW. It is not because it is the most important ceremony in Spain that everybody must like the dresses the queen and the princesses are wearing. I'm getting the impression that of some queens and/or princesses certains blogsters will not accept the remarks of other blogsters. (and I mean not only the Spanish royal family, there are others who can't do wrong).
ReplyDeleteMarcy
Marcy, they are speaking about "grand" or "too dressy", not about beautiful or ugly. I do not know if English is your mother tongue, however It seems that you do not understand well.
DeleteMW
Also Marcy, I wonder why your are speaking on behalf other persons who could answer themselves. Maybe It is the same person with lots of nicks?? ...I do not think I spoke to you , or are you teaching me what I should do? Are you the owner of the blog?
DeleteMW
Too crazy for words. To me this blog is about fashion and what we like or not and yes English is not my mother tongue. I am a bilingual Belgian (Dutch/French) English is my third language. Indirectly you spoke to me because I wrote that I agreed with the comments of Annie M. Case closed.
ReplyDeleteMarcy
@Marcy, is a moot point, MW is one of the official trolls of this blog, incapable of accepting opinions that don't agree with hers, often missing the true meaning of most comments, and accusing everybody of having many different " nicks" in the most rude of ways. Really MW ? As I see, you only sign with initials ( which by the way is your privilege) , so perhaps you are the one with many "nicks"?
ReplyDeleteYou also could be benefit from learning better manners.
Indeed, having a hard time understanding the dress code here ... either
ReplyDeleteQ Letizia is overdressed, or the Q Emerita Sofia, the Princess of Asturias and Princess Sofia were all underdressed? They could have coordinated this better ...
It is just a thought here -- at their ages, Leonor and Sofia are in a difficult period fashion-wise. It is unusual at that age to need semi-formal attire. Most things would come across as if they were going to prom, unless they had custom made dresses. I think we will see each of them begin to dress more formally as their ages dictate. ~d
DeleteTraditionally the Queen always wears a cocktail dress for this event as it’s one of the most significant prizes, and it happens in the early evening. The Spanish press and followers of the monarchy have the highest fashion expectations for this occasion , if she were to wear something casual she would be crucified. Princess Leonor is exempt from wearing formal evening attire due to her age, I am sure that when she turns 18, she will be be dressing more formally. Queen Sofia is dressed rather formally in my opinion. Perhaps you may want to google previous years to fully understand the importance of this act.
ReplyDeleteRegards
Cherry
Last year Leonor dressed more formaly and was crucified (as you properly said) by the media and the people, saying she came across as a granny, so this year , with the difficultty of being in Wales to buy a dress, she has pleased the press.
DeleteLouise
The best the speech Leonor gave to the country.
