Queen Elizabeth visited the Royal Regiment of the Canadian Artillery at the Guardroom at Windsor Castle to mark the 150th anniversary of the foundation of A and B Batteries, which are the first regular force elements of the post-Confederation Canadian Army. The Regiment is currently undertaking guard duties in London and Windsor for the very first time.
The Queen was shown the guards’ accommodation, and heard about the soldiers’ visit to the UK, and their homes and families in Canada. The Queen presented The Captain General's Sword to representatives of the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery on the Parade Ground.
The Queen has been Captain General of the Regiment since the Coronation in 1953, and The Captain General’s sword will be awarded annually to an officer who has demonstrated exemplary leadership. This engagement became the Queen's first public outing since returning to Windsor Castle at the weekend.
La Reine avait l'air pimpante, radieuse et surtout sans gants ; en jupe et veste 3/4 sur laquelle nous voyons la broche représentant une feuille d'érable (Canada) en diamants qui appartenait jadis à la Reine-mère !
ReplyDeleteHer Majesty looks lovely. I like the buttons on the jacket. The brooch is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteAmazing actually that she's still up and about in her work in this age. Here one can see she lost a bit of weight - her face is starting to change.
ReplyDeleteImagine at 95 - your feets and back are probably aching and you are tired, yet - still in duty.
Impressing.
I just wonder why she insists in putting her rouge high up in the wrinkles instead of a softer colour on her cheeks...
I hope she gets rest and the support one need in this age, and position.
This must have been a great day for the soldiers!
ReplyDeleteYes she seems to love flirting with those young soldiers.
DeleteI think they are her toyboys.
I hope Prince Philip isn't looking down from above.
He may be jealous.
Opps, fashion note, an ensemble fitting for the occasion
When I see her, I always think it must be annoying for a queen to have to raise her head so high towards people she is speaking with. She must have lost height, everyone does.
ReplyDeleteSure not everyone will agree, but my personal opinion is that there should also be a reasonable retirement age also for kings and queens. I have respect for those royals who retire in their early 80s.
Absolutely this is starting to look really painful!
DeleteIn the olden days they would reign until death but in a modern monarchy retirement is crucial in my opinion, not to me toon more or less a human right.
She has been and is still so amazing, but she should modernize her institution as she has done step by step along the 69 years she has reigned. After the platinum (what is 70 years?) she should abdicate and get some rest, still of course support her son from the back benches.
Same goes for the Scandinavians, why die on the throne? So old fashioned. Their heirs are all around 50, they have had plenty of years to learn the role already!
I am in agreement. 'Tis indeed beginning to look painful. She's 95 years old- it's time to step aside.
DeleteAs this is a fashion blog, I will say that she looks good- same as usual.
I completely agree, Mary. Retirement is the way to show your awareness of reality, the best way to serve the country. Not pushing yourself to the absolute limit.

Mi sembra molto stanca
ReplyDeleteShe lost so much weight, seems to look more like her father King George VI especially in 2nd and 3rd picture

These are my favorite pictures of her in awhile. She looks great, love the buttons on the coat with the white collar underneath. But it's the attitude portraying through that makes the photos. Lovely.

I do so agree. Lovely outfit and the interest and warmth shown in her eyes is why she is admired and loved.
DeleteHer smile is lovely, her mind-set on life work, is to be commended, and her outfit of the day is fit for a Queen. :) Sensible shoes for walking about, lovely skirt, jumper, with blouse underneath, touches of interest included the buttons on the jumper, and a nice piece of jewelry, as well as her lovely pearl earrings and a necklace just hiding out of site underneath the jumper. Well done! Cariad
