On October 4, 2021, British Princess Anne attended the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris, France. There, the Princess got together with female scientists who have been recent laureates and prize-winners of the UNESCO-L'Oreal Women in Science Program.
In addition, the Princess Royal viewed photos of the Duke of Edinburgh’s visit to UNESCO in Paris in 1988, as President of WWF.
Yesterday, the Princess Royal planted the first overseas Jubilee Tree, as part of the QueensGreenCanopy. The planting took place at the residence of the British Ambassador to France in Paris. The planting ceremony was attended by representatives of the Commonwealth Realms, and local scouts.
I don't think those boots or the purse have any business with the suit. Knotting the strap of the purse is something I remember doing when I was a student and didn't have much money. Anne can certainly do better. If she wanted this to remain a crossbody length, she can afford, or most likely already has, a purse with a shorter strap that would have looked better. She is wearing a professional outfit but is dragging it down with tassels on her boots. I can't understand what she was thinking here. I don't think suede works as well as leather would have, and the colors of the boots and purse aren't working for me. It is a lot of brown in varying shades. For me, the little bit of scarf showing is not enough brightness or color to help. Again, I hate the gloves. To me, it says "I am royal and you aren't."
ReplyDeleteThe second outfit is much better, I like the colors so much more. I think as women get older, they benefit from color. ~d
Agree that all-brown from head to toe was a strange choice here. While possibly "autumnal" it is too solidly dark, drab, and somber for the occasion where others appear to have made an effort to dress stylishly for what is a celebration. Second outfit is much better, the shade and style of the bright red blouse are flattering to Princess Anne and much more cheerful for a public appearance. S.M.
DeleteIntrigued by those long tassels on her boots. Took me a moment to figure out what they were.
ReplyDeleteThere's no standing on ceremony for this hard working, 'get to grips with it' Princess. Plant a tree in my dressy clothes? Sure, why not? Good on you, Anne.

ReplyDeleteI like the lady in black pants, white blouse and white shawl. Her kitten heels are very funny. It gives her outfit that little "je ne sais quoi". Carla
ReplyDeleteDid Princess Anne ride side saddle on a horse to this event with those boots? I think her dressing assistant made a mistake and handed her the heeled shoes to plant a tree and the boots to attend the meeting. She is always so busy I think she did not even notice.
ReplyDeleteThe first pictures are “ classic Anne”: always the same purse, very traditional dressed.
ReplyDeleteThe last pictures show a different woman: how nice to see her plant a tree in this lovely red jacket and slim skirt!

Would it be disrespectful to suggest that Anne use an eyebrow product to enhance her eyebrows a bit? I know her look is iconic and very traditional, but her face would light up with a bit more eyebrows.
ReplyDeleteAlways faithful to her vintage look.
ReplyDeleteAnne would probably think that the names of Dior, Chanel etc are the names of race horses at Ascot or the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in France.
Although her second outfit shows a bit of modernity from our lovable Princess Anne.
