  1. Gorgeous gown on the bride and everyone was very elegant. In case you don’t know the two maids of honor are the daughters of Princess Alexia and her husband .

    1. I agree, and it makes her look
pregnant ... maybe she is ? It is almost a year since they were married in a civil ceremony . ❤️
The guest list was surprisingly without the participation of the young close family generation from Denmark/Scandinavia. Strange, IMO.

    5. I agree with ML, I was also quite surprised not to see a larger attendance from the Danish family. Princess Benedikte represents them beautifully but I don't think it is sufficient. I thought that at least the CP couple, as a minimum, should have been there too, it is their first cousin getting married - albeit not the crown prince, but still.... In comparison with the Danes, both Pss Eugenie and Beatrice with their husbands are in attendance, Bea only one month after giving birth (wow, that's quite some commitment!) I read they are friends of the couple since they live in London, but that makes the absence of the Danish cousins even more noticeable. Strange indeed.

Speaking of Beatrice and Eugenie, wrong choice of dress from both. The dresses per se are nice but not flattering for their current post-partum body shapes, they draw the attention to all the wrong places. No-no for both of them I am afraid...

Quite like the dress of Queen Anne-Marie as well as that of the mother of the bride, some nice colour coordination going on there.

The bride's dress is a two part story - gorgeous top part with a beautiful décolleté and exquisite beadwork, artfully executed to distract the attention from the pregnant middle section, but it is let down completely by the bottom part and the weird half-bow .... The train and veil fit for a royal princess. They seem so happy and in love. Congratulations to them!

  7. Like Queen Anne Marie's dress and that of Princess Benedikte. My favourite is the red dress worn by (I think) Princess Tatiana but the blue fitted dress worn by Maria Olympia? is lovely as well. I'm not overly taken with the bride's dress--too fussy at the front but it looks amazing viewed from the back when you see her in church. Fantastic to see the whole family back n Greece together.

The bride looks radiantly happy. They are a lovely couple. Her bridal gown, has all the elements but too many additions.. sometimes less is more. From what can be seen the embroided collar is stunning. The bow - tied wrap is a fail for me, very distracting. It hides the beautiful embroidered shawl of her collar. The veil/ train is layer over layer. Her hair styled back with this tiara doesn't suit the shape of her face, her hair needed softening. Earrings would have been nice. The bridesmaids gowns I am not a fan of the big yellow flower designs (what it looks to be) combined with the yellow with the shoes, too much..
Queen Anne Marie looked stunning, loved her necklace and diamond cross, she is such a beautiful woman. Princess Bene, looked fabulous, so elegant. Loved her gown, gorgeous choice of jewels, particularly the stunning brooch. She gets it right every time.

  10. The bride's gown is not among the most beautiful ones I've seen. Lots of lovely dresses. The York princesses: Eugenie's dress is very tight and shows the tight corset underneath, and Beatrice should definitely have worn a bra. But it was a happy day for all, and I wish the bride and groom happiness for years to come. - Ellie

    3. The "ceremony" in England in the springtime was not a ceremony at all. It was a picnic/ reception for friends, complete with wedding cake. So there was a civil ceremony in December 2020 and an Orthodox church service over the weekend.

      Two weddings...as per tradition.

Prince Philippos looks good .A good reason to have a party; it is good to see a smattering of European royals; as they say "clinging on to the last bastions".

  37. To have three weddings you have to take yourself very seriously,

    ReplyDelete
  38. Apologizing, my comment is not about fashion, but a possible explanation about some royals attending or not:
    1) protocol: as prince Philippos is not a crown prince it's not obligatory for a crown prince from any other country to attend; a younger prince would be protocolary right. This can be seen eg. in the British attendance - not the future king, but Beatrice and Eugenie, the nearest relatives of similar age to groom and bride. (I know that Greece is now a republic, but even if it still were a monarchy, the crown prince would be Pavlos, not Philippos).
    2) reigning monarchies vs. ex-monarchies. The number of senior (working) royals in continental monarchies is limited and they have rather busy timetable. So they choose to send a family member who is not "fully progammed" (eg. Benedikte). The royals of ex-monarchies have much more free time.
It also seems that belonging to the same age group, being relatives/friends or living nearby (eg. London, Madrid, Switzerland) has had a meaning in getting an invitation.
