Hereditary Princess Stephanie of Luxembourg visited the exhibition "A Cornered Solo Show #1" by artist Nedko Solakov, displayed in the cloakroom of the Contemporary Art Museum (MUDAM). The artist is renowned for his acerbic sense of humour. The Bulgarian artist presents a work expressing the social consequences of the health crisis on our daily lives. His work highlights the absurdities and contradictions of social norms and he preferred to present his work in Mudam’s cloakroom. For the artist, the exhibition is the first of a series of solo exhibitions to be displayed in various prominent museums.
All these exhibitions, we don’t see her often at anything else. Anyhow, like the jacket with the faux (?) fur collar.
ReplyDeleteWho says she has a choice regarding the events. You do what your boss asks too. No ?
DeleteHow much is there to do in a country with only 600.000 inhabitants? She's asked to come to an event and she obliges. And she happens to know a lot about art and clearly enjoys it. Why critizise that?
DeleteI think she is a lovely person and she and Guillaume are a loving couple with a lovely child. I also think she is a shy and private person, who likes a comfy life at home with her family. I do not see her as a person comfortable with walk-and-talk, and most certainly not making a speech! What she wears is a perfect for the person she is (or I believe she is). But the problem is that Guillaume is a very public person, and will only become more public. - The bag is bad, as are the trousers, and I don't think highly of the jacket either. - Ellie

@MARIAMAR I didn't take Ellie's comment that way. Coming from a noble family and being well-mannered has nothing to do with how comfortable a person is speaking in public or getting a lot of attention. Guillaume was born into his role, never knowing any other life. Stephanie fell in love with a man who just happened to be a prince. I don't think you can imagine what that entails, no matter how well you may have been prepared, until you are living the life. I can imagine Stephanie worrying about being perceived as saying or doing the wrong thing and it being blown up in the press. I am sure she can do the job, once she is really allowed to. Until then, she should be a hands-on mother (and wife). Little Charles will be so much better for having been brought up by his parents than nannies. ~d

DeleteYou have a very strange way to interpret Ellie' s comment.
Could it bean issue with English?
I didn' t take Ellie's comment that way either and agree with~d.
Stephanie will be probably very good at her future role but it takes some time to fit in a royal life.
She is already so lovely even though I guess she is shy and needs some time to get used to speaking in public.
Then I do not get and approve of your angry tone in any case.
My opinion.

Art has her special interest: she studied history of art, nothing wrong with that.
ReplyDeleteShe looks very good, in today's aswell as yesterday’s pictures.

For all folks here critizising her for her visits in art exhibtions: she took over the work of Grand Duc Jean: she‘s president of the conseil d‘administration of MUDAM (and she‘s also engaged in other assocation like scienceteens and sick people with cerebrale diseases and many others.
ReplyDeleteI live in Luxemburg so we see here very often.
The princess seaming on Stephanie's jacket gives it a feminine shape. The problem I have with it is the length. I think it is too short. It stops at her hips, which is her trouble area. If it was longer, it would disguise her hips and give her a longer, leaner look. I don't think her purse is the best choice. While I love the pop of color, it is not wearable with the fur collar, making it cumbersome. ~d
ReplyDeleteThe outfit looks a bit random to me - a mix of colours and pieces that don’t really come together into a cohesive look. Certainly the handbag is out of place. (V.M.)
