Danish Crown Princess Mary is making a 2-day official visit to the Lithuanian capital Vilnius on September 30 and October 1 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Lithuania. It is the Republic of Lithuania’s President, Gitanas Nausėda, who has invited The Crown Princess to take part in the official celebration of the anniversary.
Lithuania’s President, Gitanas Nausėda, and his wife, Diana Nausėdienė, welcomed Crown Princess Mary at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius. Afterwards, the President and First Lady hosted a luncheon.
After the luncheon, at the Government Building in Vilnius, the Republic of Lithuania’s Prime Minister, Ingrida Šimonytė, received The Crown Princess. Thereafter, in honor of victims of the Lithuania's war for independence, The Crown Princess took part in a wreath laying ceremony at Antakalnis Cemetery in Vilnius.
Che bella Mary, sempre elegante e perfetta. Molto bello questo abito.
ReplyDeletePerché Frederik in questo viaggio ufficiale non è con lei?
I agree - Mary looks perfect in this outfit. I particularly like the brooch (Is it Ole Lynggaard?) I think it goes well with the texture of the dress. I'm also glad she didn't go with a darker belt and shoes as some have suggested. As to your question, another Danish commenter has said previously that Frederik is busy completing a course at the moment. I guess that spoils the gossip for some below.
DeletePerfection is Mary!
ReplyDeleteLovely plain dress for a state visit.
ReplyDeleteHowever, its confusing that lately she seems to represent Denmark as if she is the heiress to the crown.
Someone Danish commented a few days ago and i quote 'How come that Mary comes alone, which she does lately for official events? Next she will go alone to Lithuania also representing Denmark. Shouldn't the future Danish king participate?'
I think its demeaning to CP Fredrick, she is becoming more favourable to the people than he is. Back in the days of Catherine the Great she would easily take over the Monarch 😃
Miss W.
True. But honestly I don't think he cares. He is not ambitious the way she is at least not when it comes to rank, official duties, being a regent etc. As for the dress I have never liked it. The fabric reminds me of a bed cover, and the size looks too tight on the upper body. It is the dress she wore in Rome with sneakers.
DeleteThey say in real life she behaves distant ( people who met her). She has a warming smile I agree.
DeleteBut it is all smoke and mirrors. If you want to believe the illusion, ok.
She bosses PF a bit and shy as he is he needs encouraging. So I think they were meant for each other!
She is the one who can keep the fairy tail alive and we can dream away with golden glitters and pearls ( like Q Elizabeth did).
Like the Romans say give the people bread and games....

One special lady! I can see why she is considered a Fashion Icon Everything about her is so perfect, The dress, shoes pocketbook and the brooch is the icing on the cake. Crown Princess Mary has so much class and style and I am sure she owns the room when she walks in. Who better to represent Denmark than Mary.....I know that Queen Margrethe and Crown Prince Frederick are so proud of her!
ReplyDeleteBonjourno 🖐️
ReplyDeleteNot really sure what the satin or leather belt (can't really see which) is doing for this rather nice Chanel type dress. I don not think it adds anything. I also find the dress a tad too long.
ReplyDeleteMary is always elegant. Always a perfect lady!
ReplyDeleteNice dress. Isn't it surprising that she is doing an official visit abroad on her own ?
ReplyDeleteWonderful, stunning ... reminds me of the dresses Melania Trump often wore ...
ReplyDeleteCrown Princesss Mary looks gorgeous in white. Also love the brooch and hairstyle. One winning look after another...well done!
ReplyDeleteBut where was future King?????? Why Mary had to go alone on the visit?
-Karin
Did anyone of you thought about the fact that QMargrete isn't that young anymore and that maybe she needs her son by her side to help her with state matters. It is a good exercise for him while waiting the day he will be king. CPMary is quite capable to do all these visits by herself, she is charming, elegant, etc . and perfect for her role as the wife of a future king. Carla
DeleteMagnifique allure dans cette jolie robe blanche mais je la trouve légèrement trop longue ; j'ai l'impression que ses boucles d'oreilles ressemblent à la broche qu'elle arbore !
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nalernia. I think the dress is too long and I also think too plain and rather boring.
ReplyDeleteLady R
@Anna, amazing how you know all these things about this family, oh that’s right you also know the ins and outs of M&H and Albert &Charlene… give the Romans? You must be one of them because you seem very interested on this site, regaling us with your negative opinions. Now to fashion…..
ReplyDeleteI find this dress very elegant, the fabric reminiscent of Channel, the skirt is fluid and belt gives it a touch of femininity, I like the length and the combination of nude pumps is a perfect finish.

DeleteAgree entirely.
Maybe is Anna Princess Mary's lady-in- waiting?
Then some people do miss that in the Danish Royal House there are periods of the so called " regency", which means that CP Frederick actually substitutes for her mother and so someone must stay there to look after home affaires.
Nothing new, actually .
There is an official site where one can read scheduled activities of each royal member too.
This happened to Prince Joachim when he was still living in Danemark as well.
I think we should be able to distinguish between what is gossipy and what really occurs in this Royal House.

Lovely lady's CB and P. If you don't like my comments, don't read it!
DeleteGreetings from a dedicated follower of fashion. -A.-
Dear Anna, please ,do not dish it out.
DeleteAs for me, I only answered because you were talking not just as "a dedicated follower of fashion" but about mere gossip related to the Crown couple's private lives .
None of us know nothing of that.
They almost always have separate public engagements ,as you can see on the Danish Royal House official site and sometimes Frederick acts as " regent", which means he has to look after domestic affaires.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Where to begin? I would have preferred the dress with a contrasting belt, and a skinny belt at that, say navy skinny belt and navy shoes, or tan skinny belt and tan shoes. The brooch is all wrong, the fabric has a check in the weave that changes direction where there is a fringe at the yoke - enough going on without an asymmetric "twiggy branch" placed at that very fringe. A round sparkly brooch placed to the left or right and completely on the yoke would have looked better, or no brooch at all as the earrings lend plenty of sparkle for a day-time event.
ReplyDeleteThe president's wife's outfit is quite dashing, the sheen of the fabric and the shoes that match perfectly. However she needs a bit of sparkle, a largish brooch would have helped to make this dressier and to minimize the broad expanse of the shoulder area, good-quality costume jewelry is readily available these days so she needn't have spent a fortune or tried to compete with a royal house's access to jewels. I would have suggested a colorful scarf in the color palette of her dress and shoes, but I think the fabric of her dress is too heavy for an airy silk scarf, and the dress has a funnel neck - a scarf here would be awkward.
The prime minister looks like she is going to a funeral, why in black from neck to toe? A white top and nude stockings with the black skirt and black shoes, ditch the skinny black scarf. That would be enough, although she could add a sparkly brooch, or a colorful scarf in jewel tones.
The beige suit cannot be helped. I get the impression that Lithuania has perhaps a slightly lower standard of living and that fashion is not available or high on the priority list - it seems to be all business attire without any pizazz. This lady's hair and skin tone need color, I would tend toward pastels with her. The blouse should be in a pink, burgundy, lilac, or purple tone to help give her face some color. A navy or lighter blue suit with a frothy lilac blouse would be conservative but add a little color, or forest green suit with red orpurple blouse, or maybe someone else can come up with a suggestion?
It does seem unusual that Mary alone represent Denmark on a state visit, but she has been given an official capacity, I forget the exact title, where she is authorized to represent the regent in certain instances. I believe she has been doing this to some degree in domestic engagements, and she does travel alone to Africa on her charity excursions. I feel that overall this is encouraging that a woman be given this responsibility and not simply travel as an accompaniment to her husband. I don't read anything else into this regarding Frederick, either in their marriage or in his fulfilling his royal role. I recall that the Duchess of Cambridge visited the Netherlands alone, which I admit I thought very odd at the time, and still do actually. S.M.
Wow fantastic essay
DeleteElegantes Kleid - warum dieses Masken-Theater ??
ReplyDeleteI actually like the dress as is. Looks Chanel classic and long length is formal.
ReplyDeleteAs for why she's going alone. Perhaps PF has ongoing back pain issues or other stateside business, I don't know .
Though I must say like maxima of Holland you see more of the ladies doing visits. I rarely see king Wilhelm with maxima as well.
As for how Mary as a person...we can only guess since I never met her. It's possible she's not as warm as her smile, who knows.js
Well said Carla.
ReplyDeletePrincess Mary, is told what she can do, as she is representing the Queen these days.
Do you really think stepping in to take over the Queen one day is such an easy thing for PF, there would be so much to learn, some people just do not think.
Lets get back to making this site about fashion.
Love this look--elegant, professional, and princess proper! Mary looks fabulous again!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is pretty & feminine a big tick from me. Mary I
ReplyDeleteI do like the dress and think it's perfect for a visit like this. However, I think the choice of a belt is weird, as is the pin at the fringe line. But she looks beautiful, hair and makeup.
