On Wednesday evening, the Duchess of Cambridge hosted an event at St James's Palace, to thank everyone who worked on her Hold Still project. Photos from the event were shared on the Duke and Duchess' official social media accounts. The Duchess launched Hold Still last year, which was a photographic project aiming to capture what the United Kingdom looked like during the national lockdowns. The project was part of a collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery, of which the Duchess is patron.

Elégante Catherine !
ReplyDeleteWhat a dazzling outfit. Simple, elegant, white suits her. Kate is always so stylish and tastefully dressed. A real future queen. Anna
ReplyDeleteWell said. Just beautiful, head to toe.

Ravissante avec sa queue-de-cheval qui met en valeur son port-de-tête ; belle tenue mais je n'aime pas la partie transparente rajoutée sur le bas de la jupe ; j'aimerais mieux voir ses boucles d'oreilles !
ReplyDeleteIn general, I do not like skirts with a long see-through layer over a shorter layer, and this is no exception. In addition, the business-style of the jacket portion looks odd with the lacy skirt(s). I love Duchess Kate, and she always looks gorgeous, but this outfit is a miss for me.
ReplyDeleteDuchess Kate's outfit is special but not bad. The jacket can be worn with another skirt or trousers. The lace of the skirt can be used to pimp another garment. I wonder what shoes she was wearing. MJ
DeleteExactly my thoughts. And the dress is 100% polyester. I don't like "plastic dresses".
Delete@MJ. initially I thought the same but then I realised that this is actually a dress, not separates, so the two parts cannot be worn with other garments. Pity because, like you, I would have also styled them differently if they were separates. Like this it is a confusing garment - is it business or is it party attire? I get it that the designer wanted to cover both occasions in one single piece, but I am not sold on it. She is trying to be trendy anyway.
DeleteLove the ponytail (although it is another element of her look that leans more towards a somewhat casual look - again, mixed messages...)

I agree, a total miss. The different textures do not go well together. It is much too dressy for this event. I also would have preferred her hair down.

Chic and very charming. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe jacket is too heavy for the skirt; the skirt should be the same material as the top

ReplyDeleteYess, I think so too, although the jacket fits as a glove, the skirt should also be of a heavier fabric.

I absolutely love this suit, perfect mix, ethereal skirt and a structured top. I like how both textures balance each piece. This suit is dressy enough for this event without being over the top. She definitely can wear white well. The hair looks fantastic, wish we had more pictures.

Typical Self-Portrait, awkward combination of materials and structures.

Interesting dress with textural contrast and lots of potential for some tailoring adjustments. It would be easy to create separates for even more styling options.
ReplyDeleteKate and Q Leti both wear this type of ponytail very well. It’s flattering and shows off their earrings. Wish we had more and better photos of this engagement.

Was really looking forward to seeing the Duchess glammed up after her appearances in semi casual outfits this week. However, I’m not a great fan of this outfit. I would have preferred something with more colour and agree with comments above re the mismatch of the top of the dress and the skirt. She is looking great though.
ReplyDeleteVery elegant!

I thought she looked so elegant.
ReplyDeleteI love the colour and the lace at the bottom of the skirt was so different.
The jacket looked great on her because she is slim enough to show it off.
Her hair was styled perfect for the outfit.
