Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands attended the unveiling of the stained glass window named 'Peace & Reconciliation', designed by artist Janneke Viegers, at the Laurenskerk in Rotterdam. The artwork depicts the bombing of the cities of Rotterdam, Coventry and Dresden during the Second World War and the subsequent peace.
Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk is a protestant church in Rotterdam. It is the only remnant of the medieval city of Rotterdam. The church was badly damaged by the bombing of the city. Only the walls and the tower remained. The restoration of the Laurenskerk is seen as a symbol of the reconstruction of Rotterdam and stands for the resilience of the people of Rotterdam.
I am afraid I cannot appreciate this suit of Princess Beatrix. It looks to me like a beautifully made home brew and I find those little bows the last straw.
ReplyDeleteI think her designer is desperately looking to produce something different and more arty but it just does not come off. Pity because the dark green suits her (minus the paler flora) and the garment is perfectly made but not so well tailored to her shape. I think that the shoes and handbag or the hat and handbag in another darker colour would also look better. All that green is just too much.
Stunning ! Hat and bag perfectly matched to the outfit.

Totally agree with you Anonymous 10;58 .
DeleteEternel son look dont les couleurs sont bien harmonisées jusque dans le petit sac à mains ; son ras du cou en or lui va à ravir mais sa broche fleurie me rappelle peut-être la reine Elizabeth ?
ReplyDeleteAs well as Queen Elisabeth of the U.K., Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands has her own style. You like it or you don't but one must admit PB's outfit is a fine piece of tailoring. I particularly like the color of the shoes and handbag. MJ
ReplyDeleteEx-Queen, Princess Beatrix has her own oldfashioned style and she has been very faithful to her choice of hats, too …… they haven't changed much during the years.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Love the bottle green and the smart tailoring. The drape of the sleeves softens the look slightly.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I'm not keen on is the hat but it's her go to style and she carries it off.

I love how fun this is. It's really unique and makes me giggle. Always have loved peacock colors and shimmer! Hopefully the Princess giggled too when she saw the mirror :)

She is such a delightful woman. I love her outfit. The accessories, shoes and handbag are perfect. A beautiful and gorgeous ensemble.
ReplyDeleteOh how I miss her oversize pillboxes! This one in the loveliest shade of emerald.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully styled for a lady of her age. The green tones all match perfectly.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful peace of tayloring. Love the front part. Back with the cape is a pity.
