  1. Wonderful jewel coloured dresses. I love them all. And the tiaras! What a joy to see formal events like this again and not a mask in sight. Difficult to see past red, but the neckline of Queen Silvia's gown with her wonderful jewellery has to just edge first place for me.

I agree! The Swedish Royals deserve a Nobel Prize for sharing gala gowns, tiaras, and joy with the world. I am very thankful for their gift of beauty and style.

  2. So nice to see some royal glamour again.
Victoria is the winner here, hands down. So beautiful.
Silvia´s gown is gorgeous as well and her jewellery very impressive, but it´s a heavy, wintery look.
The president´s wife got it wrong this time. The dress is clearly too long, or it needed heels to be worn with it. It´s dragging on the ground, hence her constant need to pull it up to avoid tripping. The gloves look wrong too. Either wear long opera gloves with short or no sleeve, or no gloves at all. The colour is vibrant and works well with the sash, but it makes her look pale. The red day outfit suited her much better.
Steinmeier´s trousers are too long again, and his sash/order is dangling rather low.

Why so negativ and by the way Victorias dress is just as long ;) PS gala dresses are always long and dragging along the floor even on royals.

    3. I think that the gown of Mrs. Büdenbender was designed for shoes with some more heel. Because she had a broken leg/foot not too long ago she had to switch to flat shoes, hence the gown being too long now. No big deal. Health and comfort come first in this case.

I agree with Vanessa concerning the silver gloves of Ms Büdenbender. The sleeves of the dress and the gloves don't go together. She had to put on her flat shoes again because she still suffers of the fracture on her left foot. Otherwise the ladies are beautifully dressed. MJ

    5. In Sweden when the dress code is 'evening dress' (frack / tail coat) the ladies dress shoud just touch the floor so the German lady has a perfect lenght. It is not so easy to walk with such a dresss.

Queen Sylvia looks wonderful in emerald green. The lace sleeves and beautiful neckline easily make her the best dressed of the evening. Victoria looks lovely in red but the dress doesn't fall properly (to me) perhaps because of the sash. However, she has properly allowed the spotlight to her mother and she looks perfectly fine.
I agree, it's great to have these state banquets and dress-up affairs again.
I'm still holding out for the Japanese royal visit to the UK that was postponed in 2019 due to the pandemic. Looking forward to news of when it will be rescheduled.

  7. Magnifique trio de couleurs pour ces dames mais au niveau des diadèmes, c'est celui de la Reine que je préfère ; de plus, avec sa robe verte, elle les devance !

I am gonna assume Victoria was not aware she's getting an award and a new sash, that is why the colour of the gown clashes with that of the sash.
All the three ladies wonderful, I especially love the bright jewel tones that they opted. And tiaras! Yess, it had been nearly a year without tiaras!

@Johanna, fashion comments are just that… we all have different perspectives and not liking a particular outfit isn’t being negative, why chastise a commenter just because you don’t agree?
Victoria’s dress is very beautiful and has a perfect silhouette cascading down to the floor, hair and makeup on point.
Sylvias’s is age appropriate and although lace has been used a little too much lately it’s classic and is here to stay, the color is very flattering.
Ms. büdenbender’s managed to destroy an OK dress with the flat white shoes that look like ballet slippers, I guess she may have some issues with her feet, but there are hundreds oof “sensible” shoes to wear, the gloves are just the last straw, no, gloves aren’t necessary always elegant if worn with the wrong dress,
