On September 5, 2021, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended various events held to mark Denmark's Flag Day 2021. The Flag Day in Denmark is an official day celebrated to honor soldiers and officials who are or have been deployed abroad by Denmark. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess first attended a respect ceremony at 'The Citadel' (the military headquarters Kastellet) in Copenhagen.
At Kastellet, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess laid a wreath at the Monument for Denmark's International Efforts After 1948. Afterwards, a church service took place at Holmen's Church. Other Flag Day celebrations took place at Christiansborg Palace Square in Copenhagen. The Flag Day was celebrated for the first time in 2009.

Magnifique silhouette dans ce manteau ; c'est parfait avec cette robe imprimée en soie - J'adore l'originalité de sa capeline non imposante ; elle lui sied à ravir - Est-ce une broche en forme de marguerite qu'elle arbore ?
ReplyDeletePerfection!
ReplyDeleteWhat else could one say. Just perfection.
DeleteCongratulations Princess Mary and Prince Frederik.
Indeed!
DeleteRegal, elegant and chic, both of them. The danish people must be very proud!
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteI don´t like the hat, far too big. The rest is OK.
ReplyDeleteAgree with everyone, but also with Veerle about the hat.
DeleteElegant as always.
ReplyDeleteSombre but super smart. The dress is possibly on the short side but looks okay with the coat. Hat is terrific. Wish CP Mary would wear hats more frequently.
ReplyDeleteOh no ...... let's leave that to Queen Maxima.
DeleteLove Marys outfit, from hat to shoes. Excellent.
ReplyDelete(PS That really is a beautiful coat.)

Exquisite, but I think if the dress and coat were a few centimeters longer it would have been perfection. She really looks great in a hat, especially the wide brimmed ones.
ReplyDeleteHer handbag Frederik looks his usual uninterested and tired self. He is lucky to have Mary, and so are the Danes!
The hat is fabulous. Love the silk dress, perfect length. The day coat is superb, CP Mary looks so elegant and all class. Her gloves, shoes and clutch, finish this outfit off nicely.
ReplyDeleteIt´s an elegant outfit but I don´t like the elastic at the back of the coat.
ReplyDeleteBoth look terrific..
ReplyDeleteThis royal appearance provides an opportunity to address an emerging trend among a few of the younger royal ladies of which I am not a fan. Here Crown Princess Mary has taken a page out of Queen Letizia’s book and is making a royal appearance in a very sophisticated ensemble -one which involves a MaxMara dress, a Prada coat, and Jimmy Choo shoes- yet she seems to be wearing no hosiery -on an official autumn visit. Although Queen Margrethe II has no doubt given her consent for this, the Queen herself never appears without hosiery on official visits. Royal protocol aside, on a fashion note, a leg seen beneath hosiery can actually look more sophisticated in many instances than a bare leg. (Reference the photograph of the Crown Princess sitting down.) Whenever the leg is bare, the crevices at the tops of the toes are often visible above the edge of the shoe, veins and tendons are more visible around the ankles, and the legs and knees do not look as smooth as they do when high quality hosiery slides over them. Some readers have noted Queen Maxima’s heavier hosiery, which is support hosiery, and certainly a personal choice; however, there are many fine quality "barely there" stockings which add refinement and sophistication to the overall look-- particularly any look involving a coat dress in the autumn.
ReplyDeleteExcellent point, and very valid! - Ellie
DeleteMary is nearly always dressed without hosiery. Even in the middle of winter she comes barelegged to official events. I think it's her thing and that she thinks this look suits her legs better.
DeleteSo gorgeously smart, elegant & chick. Appropriate for the occasion. Mary never fails to deliver. Mary I
ReplyDeletePerfection. My favorite outfit of CPM for a long time. The cut and fit of the jacket are superb. The chunkier heel on the shoes is smart too, those cobblestones can be tricky to navigate in heels.
ReplyDeleteCP Mary's hat is too big for the event and her eye-make-up too heavy, IMO …… but the Prada- coat perfect in cut and fit, very suitable and elegant !
ReplyDeleteLouise
Love the dress and the coat..
DeleteBut that hat looks like a little boat..

This is why Crown Princess Mary is known as a fashion icon. You can just tell that Crown Prince Frederick is so proud of her too!
ReplyDeleteI would never call her a fashion icon. I think the hat is far too large for her and the print on the dress is not pretty.

Lovely ensemble, very elegant and appropriate.
