King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden attended the anniversary event of the Association of Friends of the Artists (Konstnärernas Vänner) at the art museum Prince Eugene's Waldemarsudde in Stockholm. The Association of Friends of the Artists was founded in 1937 and Prince Eugene was permanent chairman until his death. Upon arrival at Waldemarsudde, the King and Queen first visited Prince Eugene's tomb to lay a wreath. Afterwards, the King and Queen attended the association's annual celebration that took place in the Great Gallery Hall at Waldemarsudde.
Eugen Napoleon Nikolaus was born in August 1865 at Drottningholm Palace, and was the youngest son of Oskar (II) and Sofia of Nassau. Prince Eugen was Duke of Närke. Prince Eugen died at Waldemarsudde in 1947. He was a landscape painter and art collector. At the time of his death in 1947, Prince Eugene’s private collection included 3,200 works by the himself, and 3,500 works by almost 450 other artists.

ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks lovely. The coat she is wearing, I love. The addition of the silk scarf is the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks lovely, but why is she wearing such a warm outfit? The other women are wearing dresses with a jacket, low cut blouses or outfits, and the Queen is bundled up like its the dead of winter. She is beautiful, but curiosity makes me wonder. jj
ReplyDeleteShe may be cold sensitive .... she looks lovely
DeleteQueen Silvia looks lovely, her hat is great. My fashion winner is the woman in the bright pink skirt suit, she looks fantastic (and her jaunty hat is fabulous).
ReplyDeleteChel
For me the winner is still the queen, the pink suit lady is old fashioned from head to toe.
DeleteFrumpy.
ReplyDeleteQueen Silvia dressed like my gramdmother... hm..
ReplyDeleteRemember she is over 77 and is a grandma. Congratulations to your grandmother.
DeleteI agree with Mary T. If your grandmother dresses like Queen Silviu, she is to be congratulated on her style and finances.
DeleteCH.
Yes, thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy grandma has now passed away, but I recognised the style.
Yes, Silvia is aging as all of us are doing. Just a bit unusual to get used too. But she's very composed in what ever she's doing. A very worthy Queen.
It does look like a winter coat, the big scarf adds to it. Must be cool in Scandinavia.
ReplyDeleteIs Silvias hat a little too big, it looks that way to me.
I prefer the summer coats, the kind the british Queen wears a lot of the time.
The lady in the pink suit indeed looks a little old fashioned.
The King looks well dressed as usual.
Her hat: there is something that bothers me about the hat.
ReplyDeleteLooks like, with the hat, she is dressed to go to a conservative Sunday religious service.
