15 years old Crown Princess Leonor will start school at Wales Atlantic College this year. On August 30, 2021, Crown Princess Leonor said goodbye to her parents King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia and sister Infanta Sofia at Adolfo Suarez Barajas Airport in Madrid. Princess Leonor of Spain and Princess Alexia of The Netherlands, will start studying at UWC Atlantic College this year. Crown Princess Elisabeth of Belgium started studying at the same school in 2019.
Always difficult to say goodbye, but she will get by! Our Alexia from Holland can keep her company (also in the Spanish language).
ReplyDeleteA bittersweet moment for the parents, I'm sure. My best wishes for a great school experience for her in Wales.
ReplyDeleteHasta la vista, y buena suerte!
ReplyDeleteEveryone looks lovely but goodness me what a difficult right of passage to go through in front of the world. From experience I feel for both Mother and daughter.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth: You are absolutely right!! :(
DeleteWhy is Wales so popular with young Royals not British
ReplyDeleteBecause it's an excellent - and international, not British - school.
DeleteG
DeletePerhaps Denise you meant 'why is Wales popular with young European royals and not British royals'
DeleteFYI- Wales is a country part of Britain, so British
Jill
lovely travel outfit, nice the family accompanied her to the airport, I guess
ReplyDeleteSophia will miss her older sister Leonor, you can see in the pictures
ReplyDeleteAgree. You can see their bond.
DeleteE.B.B.
How they did this without crying and in front of cameras?
ReplyDeleteDP
Sofia was crying. Mom and Dad are probably holding it together until they are back in the car.
Deletethis is the moment of happiness but also sadness because as parents suddenly we realize our children is ready to spread their own wings to fly for their dreams, good luck Princess Leonor, you will have great experiences treasured forever
ReplyDeleteLove how the princesses are dressed so appropriate for their age. They look very chick teenagers Mary I
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame to not even be able to say goodbye to your family without the cameras being present! They always seem like such a close family (similar in the UK to King George VI, the Queen Mother, the present Queen and Princess Margaret, referred to by the King as "we four") Leonor has all the excitement of her new school, new friends and her studies but it must be a real wrench for her parents and sister
ReplyDeleteI believe that there was only one photographer--most likely one of the security team flying with her to Cardiff--to ensure some measure of privacy, with an agreement to release photos to the public in exchange. They also released some photos taken of Leonor at her new school. I think this was done so that with images being provided by the family she will not be pursued by photographers in the environs of her new school and can move normally.
DeleteIts not that these moments were stolen by photographers. The royal house has surely organized the photo set for the media.
DeleteAs for fashion, the girls look sporty and dressed for their age, like normal teenager ready for a travel.
I would imagine they could have arranged completely private travel as well, if that is what they wanted. This family is so endearing to me because they don't ask for or expect privilege's because of who they are. They only do what is necessary for immediate security. Leonor and Sofia are fortunate to have been so well-grounded. ~d
DeleteBeautiful images. A happy and united family and for Leonor the future begins. She has a wonderful smile and she will know how to cope with these two years and everything that comes with it. Long live the princess of Asturias! A shame to see her farewell to her mother, her father and her sister. Very sad, but everyone knows that it is for the good of Leonor and Spain
ReplyDeleteSusana
A wonderful family. Good luck to Leonor at her new school!
ReplyDeleteI don't think there was a bunch of photographers, but probably pics taken by one from the staff as written by 'Unknown 0:29'.
ReplyDeleteI hope CP Leonar will get a great time as student in Wales ……probably her only time to live abroad as Spanish CP and the Queen to be.

Emotional moments..As a mother i sympathize her parents...
ReplyDeleteWonderful family!
Fashionwise i dislike Queens pants..Too short for her petite figure..
Letizia is not "petite", she is 1,70 CMS tall, just the others are very tall.
DeleteMW
To me her trousers are OK! I see no need to go consistently for the very traditional length. Let's be a BIT tolerant with reasonable fashion trends... There are worse choices, probably not difficult to guess what I have in mind...
Mucha suerte, preciosa Leonor.
