Princess Charlene of Monaco, who has been in South Africa for nearly three months, gave a radio interview to Mandy Wiener from South Africa Radio 702. During the interview, Princess Charlene stated that this is the longest period she has actually been away from Europe and her children and that she is very sad she can’t be with her children during this summer in Europe.
Her visit to South Africa, which began in early May, was planned to last for only 10 days, however soon after her arrival in the country, she sought medical help as she was experiencing problems with her ears. Doctors discovered that she had a sinus infection due to complications from a sinus graft. Since then, the Princess has undergone treatment, but she is still unable to travel by air and sea. Therefore, she has to wait for some more time to return to Monaco.
ReplyDeleteI read on another "Royal" site that she still has to undergo another operation. It is hoped that her health will allow her to travel in late October.
DeleteIt was also stated on the same site that there is political unrest in the region where she is staying which could cause a security problem for her children.
Personally, I hope that Princess Charlene has as a fast return to good health so that she can be with Prince Albert and her children again.
Not a great deal to say about fashion.
NOTE : please don't underestimate the quality of medical care and research in South Africa. The first heart transplant in the world was done in South Africa in the 1960s by Doctor Christian Barnard.
thank you @deadeggs most people tend to think the whole of Africa is a dark continent. They have more advanced healthcare in SA than Monaco.
DeleteW
while her situation is genuine, however so much bad press has surrounded her absence.
ReplyDeletesix months will also give a chance for her hair to grow, i hope she has a smile when she returns to Monaco. Start a fresh page with a new image.
jill
Why is it so important for her hair to grow? ~d
DeleteUnable to travel by sea??? Air I understand, but sea...
ReplyDeleteVestibular issues can be devastating, as I found out while learning to sail, and my late mom felt every moment crossing the Atlantic on an ocean liner (she felt walloped despite "calm seas"). Even some new meds can't help some people. Of course, this is just banter amongst us, as we aren't privy to her private medical convos.
Delete
I was thinking the same but suddenly realized that she might suffer from seasickness and then you don’t like the thought of boats…..
DeleteI thought that too. Also, if Charlene really cannot travel, Albert and the children could visit her instead. Maybe air travel restrictions make it hard for them to visit, but then again, it clearly was possible for Charlene to travel by air and enter the country, so why can´t the others do the same? They could even get on a yacht and sail down there.
DeleteI think there is another reason for that long absense. I don´t think it´s marital problems, but I can image that Charlene needed time to address some mental issues. She clearly wasn´t doing well. Whatever it is, I hope she´ll recover soon and can be reunited with her family.
Vanessa
DeleteIf you look at some previous pics of Charlene on this site, you can see clearly some scars on her head.
She had reportedly two operations due to her
severe ear infections.
I guess this can generate also vestibular issues so that she cannot either fly or travel by ship.
Given the Covid present situation, I think Albert and the kids had to put off their trip to S.A. as well.
P.
This is not the whole cause and truth, but an explanation to stop the speculation in the media …… and among us, IMO .
DeleteThe new addition that she will not be able to endure sailing does not seem credible …… probably she knew, she needs more treatment of a kind ?
It's sad news that she will spend at least another two months in South Africa for her, Albert and the children …… for whatever reason.
- Julie
Check out the map and transport. There are no passenger ships. A private yacht is subject to pirate attacks which are plentiful in the region.
DeleteStop the speculation it's embarrassing to read. Have some self respect. As Charlene have shared with photos earlier Albert and the kids visited her i june and are going down again this month.

DeleteExactly my thoughts , it is embarassing to read these clumsy speculations.
As you said, no self respect and no respect for Charlene.

One can only wish good recovery and speedy healing! From own experience: complications trough infections of the ears&head are defin. a long road until it's o.k..
ReplyDeleteSHE IS A STRANGE PERSON !!!
ReplyDeleteLike your comment???
DeleteDo you know her personally to say that she is strange person?
DeleteAva
Is there no Medical Doctors in Monaco that can treat her??
ReplyDeleteFor whatever reason, real or imagined, P Char gets a ton of flack on social media and elsewhere, which says more about those posting than it does about her.
ReplyDeleteI've experienced many issues with sinuses and ears (it was not pretty) and air travel was indeed problematic (also not pretty).
I wish her health and healing.

I also read that Albert and the children are hoping/planning to go to visit her in SA but COVID rules and restrictions to travel between Monaco and SA make it complicated. In any event, I wish her a full recovery and hope she can be with her family as soon as possible one way or the other.

As royalties it is as simple for them as to take their own plane from the Nice airport and fly to SA.
Delete-SaF
I don't believe a word about the alleged long stay in Africa
ReplyDeletebecause of massive sinus problems.
Princess Charlene has always looked sad and sorrowful for years
the end . She more or less fulfills her role as mother of the country
good.
I would rather imagine that their marriage needs a break.
What mother leaves her young children alone for so long?
Surely it would not have been an effort to enable the children to spend their summer holidays in Africa close to their mother.
Fürstin Charlene sieht seit Jahren immer traurig , kummervoll
Lili, I agree. Whatever is going on, it's very strange especially considering that the global elites & royals & celebrities don't usually let anything stop them from doing things that the rest of us would find impossible even in normal times. There's always a way made for them. The saga continues... ~Laurel~
DeleteI hate speculating on what is going on in people's private lives but as someone who has suffered and is suffering from severe sinus problems that has actually rendered me deaf in one ear despite several surgeries, I can tell this is no joke. It's especially not a joke when travelling – yes flying is extreme but pressure systems can also change when travelling by sea why isn't always calm.
DeleteAs for the mummy shaming -- I wish this would stop. I am sure she is devastated that she cannot see her children. Listen, I am doubtful that it would be an effortless endeavour to get Jacques and Gabriella to South Africa. On 8 July the highest daily peak in Covid infections was reported in SA and is only now falling again. Furthermore, only 6.8% of the population is vaccinated so far and Jacques and Gabriella are too young to receive the vaccine. On top of this it's my understanding that you have to quarantine and isolate for ten days. I would understand if Albert, who had had Covid himself last year and Charlene had decided together that it was too risky for the children to travel.
Regarding the comment that Celebrities and Elites are doing all sorts of things even during Covid that would stop normal people even during normal times. Yes, that's true – but then I think it does also show restraint and responsibility if these people are not doing these things despite the means and money they possess. While I'm not Monegasque, I find that encouraging that they seemingly do not take advantage of the system. -- S.
It must feel like an eternity being away from Albert and her children ! Wishing her a speedy recovery ! Ana
ReplyDeleteI believe the same as you Lili!
ReplyDeleteIt's just a cover up for something else.
For some reason she really needs a break from Monaco, tve spotlight and maybe the marriage.. And yes, of course the children could have came there but I doubt Albert allows that. They "belong " to him and Monaco.
Poor Charlene.. poor kids.
Whatever her reason was to be away from Monaco I am sure her children will be happy to be with her mother again.
ReplyDeleteAva
Fully agree with Lili.
ReplyDeleteStrange person, very unhappy, uncomfortable in her role, still trying to find herself ...
The principality of Monace is deplorable. Down-and-out, no royal style and real commitment. Now even the Princess has gone ... Very poor and sad situation!
Strange person, very unhappy, uncomfortable in her role, still trying to find herself ...
DeleteRacja.
Why is her photo on this blog? There are no new photos, or anything, just some more PR. Am not trying to be rude, and wish her well.
ReplyDeleteThe photo, and comments have just led to further speculation, rather than comments on fashion.
I see a lot of skeptics out in full force...
ReplyDeleteIf you read they say infection and grafts. So its complicated when grafts involved in infection... Often you have to remove the graft, rid the infections with iv antibiotics ( sometimes 6 wks or more), the put new grafts in. If this works involve grafts of nose or facial area then it's tricky .
So I'll give the woman a break and stop second guessing.
If the children stays with her she couldn't care for them while having to deal with the messy infection. Jane
Absolutely.
DeleteNever understood why people can't just accept what is said and have to create their own narrative based on nothing but a few photos where "she never smiles and her eyes are sad".
Hope she is able to recover in peace and see her family soon.
G
I agree, give the woman a break. Just because she doesn't do fake smiles like so many, people say she's sad. I'm sure there was a period of adjustment moving to her new country and then with twins to raise.
DeleteIf you've never had a serious ENT infection you are very fortunate. They can be brutal and can take a very long time to get over.
Lighten up people!
Marie
Wiadomo, to publiczne zadanie.
ReplyDeleteZuza
@ Zuza
Deleteyes, that's also what I wanted to express. She has not really mastered her public role continuously for many years
Good. If, on the other hand, you see Queen Maxima or Crown Princess Mary. She seems to me as if she's being forced to do something.
@ Anonymous1/8/21 21:22
ReplyDeleteThanks for your approval, something is wrong in Monaco.
After hearing the problems that Meghan and Harry have being royals , I really think she has emotional issues. It looks like it will be such fun being a Royal but actually it must be really uncomfortable and lonely. She’s home with her parents where she can be just Charlene . It may be a combination of both her health issues and depression . I wish her well and hopefully she can overcome her problems .
DeleteThere is a lot of speculation in various media about the state of her marriage. And there is real substance to that. But beyond that, the health issue is very real.
ReplyDeleteAs a former long-time professional swimmer, Charlene's ears have gone through a lot including infections and too much water exposure. So she's much more susceptible to the current problems.
As a person who has dealt with chronic vestibular, ear/nose/throat/, and neurological issues I do truly sympathize and know that absolute misery these symptoms can cause ... but as a parent - there's not a thing in this world that could keep me away from my children for such a long period of time.
ReplyDeleteThe Monaco Royal Family are very wealthy, they surely could afford the very best team that could prepare her for travel, and doctors/nurses to travel with her. If the medical issues were the only thing keeping her away, then they would find a way. If she can't travel by plane, then it would take less than a week to make this journey by car/train/boat. I have difficulties with boats. There's a beautiful island where I live, and the only way to get there is via boat. I take a medication that puts me to sleep for the boat journey, so I don't have to experience the unpleasant symptoms. It really could be that simple.
I would like to see you get from the Cape to Monaco in a week by car. Crossing the Sahara or going the coast route up eastern Africa going over the Suez canal up Israel crossing over into Lebanon and thenthen into war torn Syria through Turkey after which it would be plain sailing driving through Greece and take your choice further on via Bulgaria, Albania or Serbia Montenegro etc. Madam/Sir have you ever looked at a map of the world?
DeleteNalerina
DeleteI can only agree with you and another question is:
Dear Sir/ Madame have you ever travelled in your life?
P.
Charlene is sick. Charlene has told us herself what has happend and what caused the infection, and why she can't travel home. And that she has to undergo several new operations. And about their marriage. Really? We think we know anything or the press? Please! 8 weeks ago Charlene published photos on her instagram from her family visiting. We read now in people magazine that they are probably traveling to South Africa again in the end of august. Maybe we should rely on what we know, not what we think we know... Anne.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteAgree.
DeletePeople need to speculate about what they do not know, eluding what is factual.
The google psychology at its best!!

Something is clearly wrong, and I don't think its her inner ear. I hope she finds help and heals from her problems

DeleteTotally agreed.

I imagine that the "risk" situation in South Africa will be looked at in detail if a visit for the children to join their mother is on the family's planning list.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, there's a lot of political unrest in the country with over three hundred deaths in July 2021.
If you are interested, more details of the current problem via the site ..............
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_South_African_unrest
It´s still completely unimaginable that she is away 9-10 months from Monaco.
ReplyDeleteEven if it took 3 weeks to travel by car you would do it, wouldn’t you? Being away from Husband, kids and home for that long? I say good on you all to believe what you are told. That Albert have made no public comment is for me the strangest piece of the puzzle.
However since she is a public figure we all have the right to speculate and make up our own mind. Pls respect this right as well.
This is mine: She has run away and that’s it. They should divorce and find a good solution for the kids. This charade is ridiculous. I also think Monate deserves a person more interested and better suited for the role of princess consort.
