On August 15, 2021, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako attended the National Memorial Ceremony at Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo, which was held on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II. On August 15, 1945, Emperor Showa announced on the radio that the country had surrendered.
The ceremony is held annually to commemorate those who died in the war. About 180 people attended the ceremony. It is the lowest attendance since the event started in 1963. The government limited the number of people present due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Very stylish,

ReplyDeleteVery moving.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the Empress's sensible and modest shoes here and always, which don't dramatize or distract from her dignified appearances.

A peaceful and serene service.
ReplyDeleteI believe Empress Masako has worn this suit before (or one very similar). She looks as good in it now as she did before. Good to see them both again.

Yes, always a joy to see them and admire the impeccable lines of their Japanese fashions.
DeleteThe Empress appears to be wearing the identical outfit that was worn at last year's ceremony.
