On July 16, 2021, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain received the Spanish Olympic Team before their trip to the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games at the El Pardo Palace in Madrid. The King and Queen also posed for a group photo with the Spanish athletes who will compete in the Olympic Games.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunningly gorgeous dress in a delicious deep tomato red, combined with Barbie-stilettos nobody should torture their body with. No point in trying to argue they are sexy party shoes, because they are neither sexy not was it a party. But the dress is simply fantabulous! - Ellie
ReplyDeletePlease Ellie leave the reasons for choosing shoes to the queen. To your analysis I would add she is not wearing them all day long, nor everyday.
Delete@ Ellie, when the Queen is seen 'off stage' she is usually wearing ballerinas, trainers and sandals. She may even wear fluffy slippers in the car until the last minute. More than likely the heels are limited for the performative part of her day. These things max out at 2 hours. Why the constant reference to her wearing heels (even on other sites) when all the others wear heels as well. Seems more like the Meghan style abuse that she has been subjected to over the past 17 years.
DeleteMarie.
I still maintain that the people upset about high heels ON OTHER PEOPLE are the people that can't wear them, for one reason or another. It isn't like smoking--you can't get second hand foot damage from being in close proximity to someone wearing heels. Relax, Ellie. ~d
DeleteI agree with Ellie - sky high heels like that are torture, and they just don't look good.
DeleteWe are not "upset" about people wearing them, we are just pointing out the obvious -they look awful, torturous, un-natural as well as unhealthy, period.
As for the insinuation, that we criticize them because we can't wear them, well, why would we want to, and how would anyone know that?
If Woman were not so slavishly addicted to the latter, maybe the shoe makers would come up with some more reasonable heeled pumps?
D
DeleteExactly my thoughts.
I also feel high heels can be disturbing for those who can' t wear them.
P.
Quite nice dress for Qn Letizia.
ReplyDeleteBoth elegant as usual.
ReplyDeletesiempre completa.
I think if she put on one of the uniforms, she would look like one of the athletes with those beautiful, toned arms. She looks gorgeous in this perfectly fitting dress (with pockets!!) in her signature red. Best of luck to all of the athletes in Tokyo! ~d
ReplyDeleteLetizia wears red like nobody else. She looks fabulous. Love the red shoes with it.
ReplyDeleteChel
Her and Kate no one else
ReplyDeleteAnd if it may be that Mary on many occasions, but her agent is so poor, she is so missing for weeks, that I do not compare, when she goes out, from time to time, she is right, but when she goes out ...
ReplyDeleteQueen Letizia is the epitome of "simple elegance".
ReplyDeleteIt is so tiresome with 'blog police' appearing to decide what one should say or not. I disagree. I did not address any reasons WHY Letizia should make her shoe choices the way she does, and I am perfectly relaxed, and I am in no way jealous of some wearing high heels. Would people please stop the game of 'policing other people's comments'. It is fine to agree or disagree, but it is not fine to tell others what they must not say. It is equally valid to comment on shoes as it is valid to comment on dresses. - I did notice a double standard the other day regarding Camilla and Charles attending somewhere, and someone found it very bad that Camilla was wearing tan shoes with navy blue, yet the same poster found nothing wrong with Charles wearing black shoes with a totally beige outfit. Why should it be awful for a woman to mix colours but perfectly fine for a man? And why should it be fine to complain over and over again about Camilla wearing the shoes she chooses to wear but oh it is so bad for me to raise issues about the shoes Letizia chooses wear? Oh deary me, what an awful person I must be. - Ellie
And the shoes of Kate, Mary, Maxima, Victoria, Mathilde are also criticized or specifically and only those of Letizia? amazes me
DeleteAriadna, of course it is not a Letizia-matter alone! I am merely talking about high heels, and it should be obvious that it does not matter, who wears them. But one of the issues on this blog is that if one always mentions the issue, the 'Blog Police' complain 'why do you always complain about that', and now that I don't do it every time, you are complaining in amazement 'why don't you always complain about it and with everyone'! It is impossible to get it right for some here, so no need to bother. - Of the ones you mentioned, Mary, Maxima and Letizia are the ones wearing formidable stilettos more than anyone else. Kate, Victoria and Mathilde also wear them, but less often and / or less high. Mathilde in particular does not wear them often anymore, or hers are not so high. But to please you , I shall mention them every single time I notice them from now on, but please do not complain about the repetitive matter. - Ellie
DeleteHow can anyone say high heel shoes are not elegant? The Queen looks amazing as per usual. I wish I could still high heels like her and the other royals, they show the outfits off to perfection. Flats do nothing our outfits except for trousers or shorts.
ReplyDeleteI say wear high heels until you can't any longer.
LONG LIVE HIGH HEELS.......
So flats do nothing for outfits? Just think of Coco Chanel herself, who always wore flats (and you'll be hard-pushed to claim she did not understand style and fashion); also Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Twiggy, Brigitte Bardot, Jacqui Kennedy, Princess Diana, Karlie Kloss and others. You cannot argue they did not understand style and their outfits looked bad! - Low heels and medium heels also exist, and any theory that the alternatives are flats or stilettos is plain wrong. Stiletto's became popular (again) in the 1990's, and the 1970's was a decade of low and wide heels, and I'm excluding platform heels as I cannot find pictures of celebrities or royals wearing them in public, although some pictures may well exist, yet outfits looked just as elegant. - Ellie
ReplyDelete@ Elle: The event and the choice of color were worn to celebrate athletes on their way to represent the country at the Olympics. Nice pictures full of color and smiles, but then... a prediction future health problems because of the choice of shoe... taking fortune telling to another level. It is reported that this woman spent many years actively involved in ballet, therefore she must know how to balance herself on her heels toes etc. To add, she is almost 49 years old and has probably been wearing heels all of her adult life.
ReplyDeleteThere is a difference in comfort between cheaply made and higher end shoes. The study of engineering is applied to these things. We may intuit that they comfortable because she owns some in several colors. One company even makes modifications in some of her shoes (that are not available at retail) to increase the comfort level. This is all knowledge gained from reading the same information available to us all.
There continues to be a consistent disregard for the possibility that the shoes are worn from the car, to the event, and back, that her off duty shoe choices are not the same, or that for the most part she is only seen for the performative part of her day.
One is entitled to ones opinion, (the terrier style fixation to a mundane topic, then beating it to death that are characteristic of a certain poster) after all, the same thing has been posted on other sites. Diverting the discussion to who has worn flats successfully is moot. The world is full of people who are different for a reason,
This woman has been excoriated and gaslighted in the media from the very beginning for the smallest of details. The height of the heels are not new, Penafiel got there first. Still, her strength of character and dignity shines through, which is why others become impatient with the cyclical regurgitation that can only have one purpose.
Marie.
Totally agreed.
