This year, The Agency for Culture and Palaces was deemed worthy of the restoration prize "The European Heritage Award" given by the international cultural heritage association Europa Nostra. On this occasion, Queen Margrethe held a reception in the palace garden and thanked everyone who participated in the restoration of Fredensborg Castle Gardens.
The Fredensborg Palace Garden, surrounding the summer residence of the Danish royal family, was first constructed in the 1720s and is the most significant example of baroque garden design in Denmark. In total, over the period of the restoration, seven impressive tree-lined alleys totalling more than 9 km in length have been re-established, more than 85 sculptures have been restored and reinserted in the garden.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely one of queen Margrethe's double star colours. She always looks lovely in bright ceris.
