Another outfit stolen from Infanta Sofia's closet..... It's even on the name, "Psophia" (=Princess Sophia) - she put the label on it so that mum doesn't nick it, but it didn't help it seems ;-)))

Actually she is Infanta Sofía, not a princess not Sophia .

It is the fashion in Spain this summer for women, not for children at all and worn by the aristocracy as the House of Alba, a bit about culture in other countries, means culture todo.

  5. Fabulous. I love everything about this outfit. It is fun and fits like a glove. The top is striking but not silly and the fabric is great. The trousers are well cut and the length of them with the espadrilles is a hit with me.

That top is really cute (better than the white one she's worn); I was feeling good looking at it until I saw the short pants & shoes. All put together, the outfit is more suited for a teenage girl. ~Laurel~

In Spain women dress like that, there is no so difference with teenagers, as in Italy a mun a ver daughter can dress the dame.

Cut off those hideous sleeves. And then either make the trousers full length, or swap shoes for cute flats.

Or… just forget about this silly looking top altogether. It isn’t anywhere close to anything traditional in any part of Spain (not sure why anyone would use that as an argument, it’s just juvenile to imagine that just saying ‘that’s how we dress’, or something equivalent, makes it alright all of a sudden.).

I'm not a fan of the queen. I have always thought she chose an immature look for her age and role as a mother and queen. Maybe she has struggled mote than we know.

This outfit is awful to my eye. I dislike the shoes style but they are typical and nice looking.

Elena - We can't all know the intricacies of other people's cultures, fashion or otherwise, although it is nice to learn. I didn't know that flouncy take-off sleeves were part of that. I get the shorter pants being in fashion & the espadrilles being a Spanish favorite. I guess it's what we're used to seeing, & not everything appeals to everyone. I doubt that everyone in Spain always like what Letizia wears. Thanks. ~Laurel~

This is juvenile? Actually the Duchess of Alba used to dress like that at 80 years old, even a bikini and she was the woman with more titles in the world, her daughter Cayetana is older than Letizia and wears those things , even more edgy.
You obviously do not understand the culture in the country at all.

Actually in Spain people do not like when she wears fitting clothes showing her figure, or Hugo Boss, people hate that brand, so she must dress for her country , magazines criticise her for that. I read their media.

I have to defer to our Spanish posters. If this is typical summer wear in Spain, then I’m all for it. I do like the cropped trousers and espadrilles, and the print of the blouse is beautiful. (V.M.)

  14. I really, really , really wish there was just one layer of ruffles at the sleeves. That would totally save this top. As it is, it looks too juvenile, like it came from one of her daughter's closet. But the bottom half is great. Love the cropped pants and espadrilles.

I like the top- it's fun and very summery. The floral print is pretty. I like her pants and espadrilles but not worn together. I don't like the look of the laces with pants that end at the ankle. I would like to know how Letizia keeps her laces perfectly in place. I swear I have to adjust mine after like every 10 steps.

@Lucie, since you don’t understand that women can wear many different styles, I highly doubt that you can speculate about her state of mind,. Midlife crisis?
I get that we all have different opinions, but some of these comments are just catty.
I like the blouse a lot, and the pants are OK in my book, espadrilles are always a favorite of mine, that being said this is just an average look, and it will just be forgettable.

Just wonder why Letizia can' t be criticized when she misses something in her look.
    She is human too.
    That is something beyond me.
Every Royal lady in every country can be wrong , just accept that and Letizia is no exception.
Personally I saya big no the blouse ,but yes to her trousers and wedges.
We only need to express our views politely and not rudely as we all can see in the case of Maxima ( 'clownish' and a lot of other nasty or even cruel remarks) or Charlene.

Te parecerá bien a ti.

  20. This top is actualy beautiful (in my eyes) but mistake is made by mixing styles - her look altogether is a miss for me. Top is romantic and trousers are modern and espadrilles are again from different story. Everything together doesn't make a good look.

I have to say that I am a little surprised by the comments. Some of them are ridiculous. I am thinking the usual ladies "we love to hate" haven't made an appearance in a while, therefore Letizia has become the target du jour. Anyone that thinks this outfit came from one of her daughters' closets does not understand fashion as much as they pretend to. No teenage girl would wear this. There is no age limit on style. One should use judgement. In my opinion, Letizia can wear clothes that other women can't wear because of her body type and the way she carries herself. I happen to like that she takes some risks. I get very bored with some royals. I always know what to expect from Kate, for example. She rarely surprises us. The same goes for Victoria. Arguing about whether Letizia's blouse is in the Spanish style or not is a waste of time to me. It is from Psophía, a company based in Madrid (where the meeting happens to be taking place). Coincidence or planned? For me, this is a well balanced outfit. I make no secret of loving cropped pants and these are very flattering. Espadrilles are always fabulous, and have been for thousands of years. I think they look great with her pants. As for her blouse, I am fine with it. It is not classic but distinctive, so I don't see her wearing it often or it becoming a wardrobe staple. As a statement piece, it works well with the simple, clean lines of her pants, and because she is thin, she can handle the sleeves. I like the color of the belt, bringing out a color from the sophisticated print. It is a fun and casual summer outfit. I understand it is not for everyone. ~d

Bien hecho.
