On June 12, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her official birthday with a scaled down Trooping the Colour in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle. The Trooping of the Colour (The Queen's Birthday Parade) has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years. This years parade is formed by soldiers who have played an integral role in the NHS’ COVID-19 response, as well as those who have been serving on military operations overseas.
La reine a déjà porté ce manteau aux délicates broderies jaunes et blanches sur toute son encolure ; nous les retrouvons également sur son chapeau - Sa belle broche en aigue-marine s'y confond presque et mériterait d'être mieux vue !
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos again. As the TV commentator said, she really looked like she was enjoying herself. This outfit looks better here than it did on TV, when it looked very pale against the background. She definitely looks better in stronger colours but who cares as long as we get our pomp and pageantry and Her Majesty enjoys it!
ReplyDeleteCan I just add that by her side was HRH The Duke of Kent, Field Marshal of the Scots Guards, who were trooping their regimental colour today. He was, however, in some very frail condition, although completely dressed up he barely managed to walk in his spurred boots and the heavy uniform, including bear skin and all... poor soul.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if the Duke of Kent could see anything from under his bearskin headgear. I mean ... it sat deeper than ever, even his nose was barely visible. (https://people.com/royals/queen-elizabeth-trooping-the-colour-companion-duke-of-kent/ . No wonder he looked somewhat insecure as to where to place his next step . (-Ann.)
DeleteAlthough the Duke of Kent is a mere youngster compared to her Majesty, he IS 85 and had a stroke some years ago. All credit to him for appearing in full military uniform but it probably was a bit much for him.
DeleteWhy did she wear gloves ? Did she have to shake hands ?
ReplyDeleteShe wore gloves because it's her style, her elegance and her prerogative.

>>Why did she wear gloves ?<< Because she can.
DeleteHM looks beautiful! I love this ensemble (which I believe she recently wore to the opening of Parliament too)--it is so elegant. The gold embroidery adds a regal touch. Her brooch (her mother's Aquamarine Art Deco brooch) is a sweet memory of her parents for her official birthday.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit and especially the colour combination and hand embroidery.
ReplyDeleteEither she or someone else wore something similar before and it looked marvellous then as it does now.
She does genuinely seem happy, and I couldn't be more pleased for her. Congratulations, Ma'am!

Well said, Anon 9:13. I totally agree. For as far as I know, she wore it for the opening of Parliament earlier, so you're right.
DeleteI like this coat and hat on her very much. It is pale but the yellow embroidery looks exquisite on it.
ReplyDeleteShe has worn this outfit before, including the dress (which I don´t like much), but this time it´s a much looser fit. She has indeed lost quite a bit of weight.
Just to add, I do like the addition of the buttons for this time wearing this outfit. I think the colors lovely, as she is most often in brighter ones. The embroidery is beautiful.

The first photo of HM, she looks beautiful ! One of the many photos taken of her over the years, where the camera just catches that enigmatic smile ! Ana
ReplyDeleteSehr elegant und Prinz Phillip wäre wie Jahrzehntelang schon immer , stolz auf seine Queen !!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis ensemble was an instant classic from its very first appearance, and I must admit, it somehow looks even better on QEII here.
A very sophisticated colour story rendered in delicate details.

The Queen has looked happy these last few days! Go glad she's found some happiness after loosing her beloved husband.
