Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, has hosted an evening reception for G7 leaders at the Eden Project in St Austell. The Eden Project reception is being hosted by Prince Charles, accompanied by the Duke of Cambridge, and its aim is to discuss the climate crisis and biodiversity loss the world is currently faced with.
The Queen looks 'blooming' beautiful !!
ReplyDeleteYou are " blooming-well "right.
DeleteShe steals the show.
Wonderful photos of the Queen's full mega watt smile, especially in the 10th photo. Not that it fazed her at all but was it really necessary for her to cut the cake with that huge sword? In the 6th photo, love the way that the two Duchesses are semi ignoring her while she tries to cut through the cake! :-)
ReplyDeleteStrange variation in outfits. Her Majesty, the Duchess of Cornwall and Mrs Johnson all in dresses, Duchess of Cambridge in a coatdress and Dr Biden in a raincoat!
My favourite is the Duchess of Cornwall's dress which is smart and classy (oh, the shoes!) but I also like the pattern of the Queen's outfit and the pop of yellow in shoes and bag for Mrs J.
Great photos to cheer a Friday night
Annie M - Queen Elizabeth cut a cake with a sword & Queen Sonja opened a new pathway by cutting through an apple-tree branch held for her. Seemed she had a great time doing it!

I think it's the weather there. I've heard the UK can be chilly and drafty.
DeleteThere is actually a great video of this when her aide is offering a knife and the Queen prefers the sword! I love her face in the first pic here with the sword- and in such a ladylike fabric dress, screams “boss lady”:)!. The Queen looks great- that shade of pink in the carnations of her beautiful dress fabric is so nice on her. I do like D. Camilla’s look (except the shoes and bag are a bit much for me with the print- not everything need be black and white/cream. Love D. Catherine’s coat dress. I think she does a great job on these together assignments of looking wonderful while dressing as the wife of the second in line- which to me is slightly understated with nothing too overshadowing/attention getting.

It is truly nice to see Queen smiling in lovely summer dress.
ReplyDeleteAva
Beautiful showing from the British royals. The queen, center of attention, looks lovely. Camilla looks understated and very “English royalty”. Kate looks very sophisticated in a simple yet effective way. Lovely pearls all around
ReplyDeleteMary
God Bless The Queen, I love her
ReplyDeleteThe Queen seems thinner but still looks beautiful, and her smile is radiant! Her dress is very nice and her pearls are perfect. Her brooch, however, gets lost in the floral pattern of the dress. Already tall, in her very high heels, Catherine towers above Camilla and the Queen. Her cream-colored dress fits her perfectly, and the flared skirt is very attractive. Camilla's blue and white dress fits well and is attractive.
ReplyDeletepoor lady, i think this past year has been stressful for her.
Deletejen
Remember how Princess Diana always wore low heeled shoes, so as not to tower over her husband.
DeleteLovely lady, such a beautiful smile. I hope she can take the summer off to Balmoral to recuperate, she needs it.
ReplyDeletemjt
The Queen looks lovely. She looks tiny like she lost some weight. Catherine and Camilla both look nice but I find their selections somewhat predictable. I like Carrie Johnson's outfit. The dress is pretty and I love the yellow shoes and purse.
ReplyDeleteE.B.B.
Really love the Queen's dress. Love the colours and the fabric - perfect for an early Summer afternoon event. She looks very good - Bless her.
ReplyDeleteI also like Camilla's dress. It's a very mice print but sadly..the "Camilla Shoes" as I call them had to make an appearance. An all white or cream shoe would have looked better.
Kate has possibly followed the informal protocol of not pulling focus away from her two senior-ranking royals when in close company with them and has worn a nice monochrome but nondescript dress. The cut and fit is perfect, but as was my reaction with the red pencil outfit earlier in the day, these two outfits would look immeasurable better and more organic if only she filled them out a little more. I'm reminded of board cut-outs.

The Queen looks absolutely lovely. I love her dress very much. Kate looks so much better. This silhouette is much better on her. It gives her the curves she is missing when she wears a column dress. I love her shoes and clutch. Camilla disappoints here. Her dress looks like an every day dress, not up to par with the Queen and Kate. Then there are the cap toe pumps...not my favorite. ~d
ReplyDeleteBella Cate!
ReplyDeleteThe Queen and Kate look simply spectacular.
ReplyDeleteIt is a real pleasure to see the Royals so dignified while receiving their guests with this display of exquisite class.
No fuss, only oozing class at its best.
So much to learn from.
P.
.
Kate - absolut class!
ReplyDeleteJust a side note about Carrie J.'s dresses: I find the idea of renting expensive dresses instead of buying is a very good one and with a very serious bakcground: Sustainability. Just yesterday I read somewhere that Stella McCartney told that the fashion industry is one of the biggest enemy of the environment - how true. So renting (and making it public!) is good, this way re-using happens not relating to one woman but to several and the one who rents can always wear a new one without buying a new one.
ReplyDelete(This said, I disliked all her choices, the flowery one was the worst for me, but I never liked anything from The Vampire's Wife on anyone, not even on Kate).
(-Ann.)
Nice outfits on the royals ladies, everyone looks good.
ReplyDeleteI especially like Camilla´s outfit, and her handbag is cute.
Kate looks good too, but her heels are unnecessarily high. She is already so tall.
Not so sure about Mrs. Johnson´s look. Not formal enough for this high-profil political summit, I think.
I like the photo of the queen holding the sword and her obvious delight. I´m surprised though that she is holding it that way around to cut the cake.
Merkel looks awful, like always; von der Leyen also in her usual unflattering uniform; and the men in suits like expected. Nice to see a summery colour on Trudeau.
The group shot with the G7 heads of states is poorly composed.
And with the queen seated, I can imagine that both Biden and Merkel were happy to be able to sit as well, so he doesn´t stumble and she doesn´t shake. Macron seemingly happy to be abroad after literally getting slapped in the face at home.
La Reine Elisabeth, a une robe sublime, elle est touchante et merveilleuse avec ce sourire.
ReplyDeleteMARIAMAR
If men wear suits so they always and all look the same (same as themselves each time and also same as all other men), it is 'like expected', business as usual. Nobody talks about them in terms of fashion. If women in politics wear suits (because it is politics, not the cat walk), does it have to be "awful" or "unflattering"? What I mean is: Why not just skip "women in uniforms" in a fashion blog, like we skip the men, instead of hurtful comments? (-Ann.)
ReplyDeleteHi Ann,
DeleteI think your question is directed at me, so I´ll elaborate.
I was mentioning the men´s suits ("as expected") not because they lived up to my expectation, but because they are predictable and therefore boring. Hence, I then mentioned the one suit that doesn´t look boring (Trudeau´s). Everything else is indeed business as usual.
I do not at all mind women wearing suits, in business or politics or elsewhere. But you have to admit that both Merkel and v.d.Leyen look awful in their respective models. And since they - like most men - look the same as themselves all the time, I call them a uniform because they - UNlike most men - have a lot more options. There is no need to wear the same style all the time, especially if it looks that bad.
@Vanessa 21:06 - ".... both Merkel and v.d.Leyen look awful": I passionately hate their politics too, Vanessa. Merkel decided for this type of uniform which is even much better and more versatile than a monocoloured pant suit. And as opposed to earlier, she ditched the lapel version of the jacket, this is even a positive development simply because if you age, your neck tends to become shorter (I know what I am talking about :-) and if you are not slim, this tendency is even stronger. So for me, she optimized her "uniform" as far as it is possible under the given circumstances (body structure and age and her function/role). In my perception, there is not much she could do in order to look much better. For fashion discussions, she is simply an irrelevant entity like men: Merkel wears what she always wears and looks like she always looks. And now my main point: to call Merkel awful sounds for me very hurtful because it is personal: No great choices for her to look better without compromising her function/role. She achieved what she presumably wanted to achieve: What she wears is not a topic for the press. - Von der Leyen: she also looks like she always looks, but her bodily prerequisites are simply more favourable for whatever she wears. - Think of the Queen: Whoever else would wear what she usually wears would be fiercely criticised. We don't do it because she does her very best to look her very best for her bodily prerequisites and for her age. Merkel does this too, only in a much more fashion-hostile context (day-to-day politics). (-Ann.)
DeleteFair enough Ann. You argued well. I still think Merkel looks awful, but maybe you´re right, and there´s nothing better she can do.
DeleteAll three look lovely but the Queen is the star which is as it should be.
ReplyDeleteBea
@ Vanessa, and today you win the internet for the most awful comment. You know some people are able to use sarcasm with a little bit of wit and a sprinkle of humor, but not you, you somehow manage to turn your tirades into a bitter monologue, demeaning people for what you perceive to be flaws related to age or health issues is easy and unoriginal. You must be a delight to be around.
ReplyDeleteCherry
I wasn´t being sarcastic. I guess you can call my comment satirical but there is no amount of satire I could use to match up the real-life satire these leaders have put us through.
DeleteYou clearly don´t like my comment, but I´m not apologetic. I will always call a spade a spade.
The Queen looks adorable. Catherine is class and elegance!
ReplyDelete@Vanessa, not sure what these people put you thru, but the beauty of it is that they can be replaced, making snide comments about their age or health is a very juvenile , solves nothing, and using this lovely thread for your sociopolitical agenda is somehow ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteCherry
I didn´t make snide comments about age or health. I made a snide comment about their dishonesty. Merkel lied about her condition ("just dehydrated"), and in Biden´s case, it´s the lacking discussion about his condition.
DeleteThe Queen looks lovely Kate is the stand out amongst the other ladies as usual . Mary I
ReplyDeleteKate looks lovely in the off white dress and it perfectly on her waist, sometimes her dresses look too high waisted on her.
ReplyDeleteI love the design of the shoe, however I think they would have been better in a cool toning, even like a snake skin that Princess Mary wears, hers are so veritile.
Queen looks so happy to be amongst people and so pretty, as usual.
Camilla always looks lovely in navy and white, the cool colours suit her hair perfectly.
Nice to see the family out enjoying themselves together again, it has been so long.
@Vanessa, these conspiracies exists only in your head……their conditions?..
ReplyDeleteperhaps take care of yours.
MM
Indeed. Pot, meet kettle.

HM wins the day for me ! Though heavily patterned, the colours are subtle.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the queen and two future queen consorts out in force !
Although not 'royal' I've enjoyed the items chosen by Mrs Biden!
Mrs Johnson has chosen to hire her items, which I applaude! Sustainability is a good look for the fashion world ! Ana
Her Maj looking smashing! However, Camilla the big winner with a very attractive dress with Right shape and colour for her! DoC dress doesn’t feel right a rare miss from Catherine.
ReplyDeleteBJ is looking atrocious and is just such a liability. Worse than Winston. His wife is rather attractive though.
