This year, Germany hosts German speaking countries' Presidents meeting. On June 28, 2021, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Buedenbender gave a dinner in honour of German speaking countries' Presidents at Bavarian House in Potsdam.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, Grand Duke Henri, Hereditary Prince Alois and Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein, Swiss President Guy Parmelin and his wife Caroline Parmelin, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and his wife Doris Schmidauer attended the dinner. (Since the dinner was not open to the press, photos were limited). Queen Mathilde wore an outfit (top and trousers) by Carolina Herrera.
Carolina Herrera fringed crepe top and crepe straight leg pants
ReplyDeleteSee there, no masks all of a sudden, even indoors. I guess once the points for political correctness are scored, it´s time to relax.
ReplyDeleteI like the green outfit in theory (I think green is underrated), but only very few people can wear that style. Without having seen a full-body photo of Mathilde, I´m afraid this may not be the right style for her. You have to be superslender to look good in something this unforgiving, and I´m afraid, Mathilde is not.
They are not wearing masks because they are about to eat dinner and seated at a distance, next to only their spouses. This is specifically arranged to be a socially distanced dinner table.
DeleteQueen Mathilde wore this ensemble at the 2021 Music Competition Reine Elisabeth and she was very beautiful in it. Indeed no masks indoors because they were sitting on a table to have lunch of something. One cannot eat with a mask on !!! M.J.
DeleteExactly my thoughts. I held off commenting hoping for a better pic of Mathilde, but I too wondered if such a tight, stretchy style was good for her. I seem to recall that either she or someone else has worn this before.

Give it a rest with anti mask rhetoric. They're going to eat! Masks aren't worn for political correctness...
DeleteG
Yes give it a rest with masks! The obligation of wearing it or not IS logical but with appropriate nuances. Look at distances between couples that is one of the key issues !
DeleteI agree with Vanessa on the masks; and why should we give it a rest, it's been way over ONE year already. Even the G7 leaders posed for official photos social-distancing; but once they were schmoozing in private they were maskless & shoulder-touching-shoulder, even embracing. One "rule" for them; one rule for everyone else. Time to end this nonsense. The truth will come out & the backlash will be horrific.
DeleteAnd yes, it would seem to be not the most flattering outfit for Mathilde.

Great - another one from the conspiracy theory echo chamber. No facts, no proof, no science...
DeleteYou should give it a rest, Laurel, because it's boring. We get it - you and Vanessa think there is some big worldwide conspiracy to control everyone by some mysterious elite through mask wearing and robot carrying vaccination.
Now can we get back to clothes?
G
I believe we have seen this green pant suit on Queen Mathilde before. So much monochrome green is a bit much and overpowering. Not a fan of the fringe either.
ReplyDeleteThe look would be softened by some nice Jewelry , necklace or broach imo.
I get the feeling everyone was told "casual" dress code. One poor lady is wearing a surgical boot. Also feel sorry for Henri sitting there by himself as Maria Teresa never seems to accompany him. It's like she is hiding herself away in her Luxembourg castle. S.M.
ReplyDeleteHere we may assume that she is not speaking German and therefore declined.
DeleteYour mask obsession is rather ridiculous.

Talking to me?
DeleteI´m just pointing out the obvious. So many people have accepted mask-wearing as a "normal" thing to do and don´t react to them anymore. Some don´t even react to obviously pointless mask-wearing anymore. And worse still, some wear their masks as a way of virtue-signalling. You guys have all been conditioned successfully.
You aren't pointing out the obvious, you're actually stating your opinion which is based on no evidence whatsoever.
DeleteYou can believe it's conditioning if that makes you feel superior. Talking of virtue signalling...

Personally I should be very grateful if masks be left out of comments . They are not essential to fashion or style. If you still want to comment on them, go to a blog on medical topics or psychology... they are more appropriate places for commenting them.
DeleteIt’s hard to tell if the style is flattering, but I think the colour will be lovely on Q. Mathilde. The trousers seem to be very well tailored, but the top is a question mark. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteI think this Carolina Herrera blouse is very much forgiving - if and only if somebody really needs this type of forgiveness. However, I don't think so. Queen Mathilde is not a monster with folds of rolling flesh to hide, she is a normal woman with a normal womanly body. Not a superslender model body, a normal body. - That other dress of today with the color block tiers -- that was simply an ugly dress that would have been ugly on anybody. (-Ann.)
ReplyDeleteLooks quite good: https://www.newmyroyals.com/2021/05/belgian-queen-mathilde-attended.html (-Ann.)
ReplyDelete@Vanessa, just your opinion and opinions (quoting Bullard) are the lowest form of human intelligence. It requires no accountability , no understanding. As usual you use this forum to promote your uninformed, uneducated theories. Generally high jacking a post to promote your agenda is just bad manners, but all of you science deniers and visitors of the dark web and conspiracy theorist should really stay on those sites.
