On June 9, 2021, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, former King Albert II and Queen Paola attended the closing concert of the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition 2021, held at the Centre for Fine Arts - Bozar (Palais des Beaux-Arts) in Brussels. French Jonathan Fournel wins the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition 2021. Every year, the Queen Elisabeth Competition organizes an international competition in Brussels for young, classically trained musicians. Queen Mathilde wore a new blue top by Carolina Herrera and crepe straight-leg pants by the same brand.

I think Mathilde should have worn something with sleeves. - The blue top has been varied, it seems, and it is too short for her, in my book, and it is shorter than what the model is wearing. Mathilde's also has a sash-like added drape on her right shoulder, and she has fastened it with a dragonfly brooch. The result is not good, and it looks like a tent on her in the first picture. - Ellie
ReplyDeleteTotally agree Ellie.
DeleteI disagree on the sleeves, I don't see the need.
DeleteEllie, I agree. Mathilde is short-waisted & pear-shaped; her shoulders are too narrow to pull this off. It makes her look heavy/pregnant. However, the color is simply beautiful. It looks lovely on the model. ~Laurel~
DeleteLove her...hate the outfit.

I think Queen Mathilde looks good here. Love that blue color, those brighter jewel tones look fantastic on her. I think the silhouette of this outfit is flattering on her, the drape of the top is lovely. Her hair is looking great these days as well.

Yes Mathilde, good choice for you! Nice to see Albert & Paola, however a bit sad to see they are both walking with a stick.
ReplyDeleteThe colour is the only thing nice here,

This could have been a nice outfit on Mathilde if the top had been longer and the draping fell better around her figure. I think that the size/proportions of the top are not correct for her figure and it shows at the arms. The first photo demonstrates both these points.

Agree. It's a gorgeous colour which Queen Mathilde suits very well and the draped top over the trousers should be ideal for her. However, something about the fit is not quite right.
DeleteI agree with Anon 9:13. The top needed to be longer for this to be successful on Mathilde. Her torso is so short/legs so long that the top needed to be longer to cover her crotch to disguise that fact. She has brought the extra piece of fabric forward, securing it with the dragonfly brooch, where the model has worn that piece to the back. That may be the reason the top is bunching strangely around her neck. The color is nice on her. ~d
