On May 19, 2021, Queen Maxima, member of the Netherlands Entrepreneurship Committee, paid a working visit to the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region. The visit focused on the cooperation in the region to help workers who lose their job back to work quickly and to link employers with a temporary shortage of staff to companies where there is insufficient work.Queen Maxima wore an embroidered openwork long dress from Antik Batik.

    Nice dress :)

  3. Maxima sure seems to have fun surprising us with another bold outfit!
I'm not a fan of boots combined with delicate fabrics , but the overall look is pretty good. Her hair is just the usual, intentionally messy busy woman hairstyle,
roots and all. It's a look, imo.

    1. Yep, it's a look. It's called "shaggy chic".
I thought it had gone out of fashion.
Type in "hairstyles shaggy chic" on google and you'll get lots of photos and suggested styles.

    2. @deadeggs, I did it and ended up on this site. These pictures gave me nightmares. I will never complain on Maximas hair again. She looks really good compared with some of those 😬

Gosh..so many thoughts running through my mind.
First, I can't help notice the similarity in fabric pattern and colours to the dress her eldest daughter wore recently for the concert. (When I saw the top photo, I wondered if it was the same dress.)
Secondly, if she wore this ensemble - with the statement belt, woolly shawl and boots - in late November it would have been quite appropriate. But it's May, with thoughts of late Spring and early summer...brighter, warmer, sunnier days. Is it really that cool in the Netherlands at the moment? If it is..then fine for comfort, but still no to dark colours and styling for this time of year. The length is more appropriate for colder weather as well.
Nice outfit, wrong time of year.

Maxima's smile wins the day as it always does.

  5. For me as well too heavy boots and belt. Improvement in hair style which is softer.
Hair color is blonder yes, while having the roots darker intentionally; quite normally the roots might be rather gray now that she is fifty.

Maybe the accessories could be lighter or at least not bulky. Otherwise its a nice simple look.

I would love to see this dress worn with accessories in an other colour than black.
The black is too harsh for the delicate fabric.
    Beige or brown may- be?
It ‘s a lovely dress, so please try again Y.M.!

Indeed, nice dress but awful belt and not with boots..... The lady in blue is quite a significant example of Dutch chic dressing for women over forty: the dress always too short.

Pretty dress...too bad she ruined it with that large belt and scarf.

No , the dress is just OK, the hem makes it look like night attire but the rest makes it look like a hot mess.

  11. I think the dress is fine, not great but not terrible. I do believe it's too much with both the heavy belt and boots, just one or the other would have made this look much better (especially with the draped scarf/shawl).

  12. I finally watched the birthday interview video its nearly 2 hours and I think we have all been so wrong complaining about the hair. I think the stills make it look messy most of the time but I get a completely different idea when watching her in quite a lot of flashbacks during the interview when her hair is moving with her very vibrant way s as a person. It was really nice. For the interview it looked in the first instance much neater but then one realises it is lacquered to a stiff helmet that almost did not move and was not nearly as attractive as the messy hair.
All in all she is a very impressive woman.
