On May 11, 2021, Queen Elizabeth II made her first official engagement outside of Windsor Castle since the death of her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The Queen performed one of her most important constitutional duties by attending the State Opening of Parliament in Westminster. Queen Elizabeth was accompanied by her son The Prince of Wales, and his wife The Duchess of Cornwall.
The State Opening of Parliament is a key moment in the political and constitutional calendar as it sees the Sovereign, as head of state, outline the main legislation that the serving U.K. Government wishes to introduce over the coming months. Today, the Queen officially opened the UK Parliament by giving the Queen’s Speech that sets out the Government’s legislative plans.
I love everything about her ensemble. The colour combination (that lovely dove grey), the yellow and gold embroidery, the under dress, the hat style and decor - it all looks lovely on this very admirable woman! Bless.

Absolutely Agree. In addition the brooches are modern and classy at the same time. Love this essemble.
DeleteHer Magisty looks stunning. My only quibble I would put those brooches slightly more down and away from the embroidery so that they are seen in their own right and not fighting for attention with the embroidery.
ReplyDeleteVery moving to see the Queen enter, supported by her son.
ReplyDeleteLove her coat and hat, very good colour.
Camilla looks also great and sophisticated!

Camilla looks great. They all do. Frieda
ReplyDeleteAwww, poor QE2. Didn't the Duke still accompany her to TSOOP, or had he halted that activity? Reminders of him are every where.
ReplyDeleteCharles has been accompanying her for the past several years.

The Queen looks wonderful. These soft colours, the embroidered flowers on her hat and coat, which are the same as her dress... Wow. A soft and fresh spring-look. Lots of respect for her, going out on a public official event, soon after the death of her husband. My admiration for her only grows! She is so incredibly strong.
ReplyDeleteCamilla's outfit could have been great, but the coat looks ill-fitting and the shoes combined with this sophisticated look is a big no. The hat suits her very much though.
What a beautiful and brave Lady!
ReplyDeleteThe queen looks absolutely divine, beautiful color, I specially like the flowery spring touch. Not in love with Camilla’s outfit, white can be beautiful and elegant but this ensamble looks like a lab coat, perhaps because of the fabric or because it needs to be paired with accessories of a different color, gray, pinkish, etc… oh! and those shoes just make everything worse,

Unfortunately, I think the photos here don't do Camilla's outfit justice. It's actually an off-white/ beige colour in the diamond panels, not grey, which compliment her shoes.
DeleteSplendid texture, color and embroidery on Her Majesty's coat. Not a great fan of the pattern on the Duchess of Cornwall's coat, but her large hat suits her so well, as her large hats usually do.
ReplyDeleteQueen Elizabeth and Camilla looked great today!!

Agreed! I especially love Queen Elizabeth's outfit.

Her Majesty looks as smart as she always does. I think she looks better in brighter colours but don't know if the Court is still in half mourning--so lilacs and whites and greys rather than black. The dress below certainly livens it up considerably. I think she had done at least two State Openings without Prince Philip so perhaps not as difficult as some other events will be. I entirely agree with Rosalyn and Cherry and others who do not rate Camilla's coat. She has many better fitting ones. I really wish she would give up on the two tone shoes, but the hat is great.
ReplyDeleteThey all look great, but Camilla looks exceptional in the elegant white. The pattern of the dress makes her waist look smaller and the fit is spot on. This is the best I've seen her look in a while. I know Charles is proud of her.
ReplyDeleteGod bless Queen Elizabeth. She looks lovely but a little sad. Her coat and hat are her trademarks and they are beautiful. I agree that the aquamarine brooches would have been better if they had been placed a bit lower on her coat, but I'm sure they sparkled as she passed those in attendance. Prince Charles looks very good, and I think Camilla's coat is pretty with interesting tailoring. As someone else mentioned, a more colorful brooch on the coat would have been great. Her tried and true shoes may not have been the best fashion choice, but, as someone in her age group, I suspect she wore something affording comfort.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that Charles is very proud of her outfit… :-)
DeleteHM looks splendid. The dress she wore, for the official photo for Prince Philips 99th birthday !
ReplyDeleteCamilla looks lovely. I find with Camilla she wears the wrong size bra, and that can spoil the overall look. But, today she's got it just right. Ana
I noticed that, too, that she wore the same dress than for the last "official" photo with her late husband. So she wasn´t sitting alone in front of the parliament, Philip was still by her side.
DeleteThe Queen is admirable and she looks great! I noticed too she wore this outfit before, maybe she wore it for this important occasion in his honour.
ReplyDeleteI meant to say of course " the Queen wore this outfit in her late Husbands
ReplyDeleteHonour!"
