Prince Christian of Denmark was confirmed in Fredensborg Palace Church on May 15. The confirmation was presided over by Bishop Henrik Wigh-Poulsen. Due to the coronavirus pandemic restrictions, only 25 guests were invited to the confirmation service. The Crown Prince was also confirmed in the same church 40 years ago.
The ceremony was attended by Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, Princess Josephine, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix. Afterwards, the confirmation was celebrated privately in the chancellery at the palace due to the current restrictions. (Crown Princess Mary wore a new polka-dot satin midi dress from Iris & Ink.)

What a beautiful occasion. Wonderful really.
ReplyDeleteChristian looks very dapper here and his mother wore a very nice and appropriate dress, nicely styled with the clutch and hairband. Isabella looks very grown-up here, thanks to the suit I think. But I don't like her outfit and it hasn't a proper cut in my opinion.
One happy family!
ReplyDeleteMary looks lovely, as does the Queen!
Josh
In the video as Mary showed off the Queen and girls for pictures with them alone but then called the girls back again, Isabella said 'Are you completely gone, Mum'
DeleteWhere can you see that video?
DeleteIs he taller than his father?! Wow. This family is the cutest. Aww.
ReplyDeleteSo cute with the hound in the pictures
ReplyDeleteAlways lovely to see the Crown Prince family. Today being a joyous occasion.
ReplyDeleteMary as always looks sublime ! She's wearing the Connaught sapphire brooch, which she wore to Christians christening, which is a lovely memory touch !
Isabella's suit might be Mary's, as we've seen her wear a similar cream two piece (South Korea visit)
Does anyone know why the CP family have relocated to their Chancellery home ?

The Crown Prince and Crown Princess reside both in Frederik VIII's Palace at Amalienborg and in the Chancellery at Fredensborg Castle.
Thank you MaryT for information. Ana
DeleteWhere to start? I love Isabella's cream suit. An unexpected choice that looks fantastic on her. Christian looks dapper in his 3-piece suit. I love how the polka dots in his tie are repeated in Frederick's tie, Mary's dress and Josephine's skirt. Mary's dress is great choice and is perfectly styled for this occasion. Love the coordinated of cream and navy. The Queen looks great. Her red pops among the navy and cream in the family pictures.

What a lovely family on such a joyous occasion!
ReplyDeleteI love the way their clothing is so well coordinated and harmonious among all of them, from the dark navy blues to the off white in Josephine's jacket and Isabella's suit, to the polka dots on Mary's dress, Josephines's skirt and the men's ties. Mary looks regal and lovely; her dress would have also looked great had it been reversed - cream with small dark blue polka dots. A little lighter and brighter for a Spring daytime church event perhaps.
All the children have grown so much, and sweet Isabella is just getting into her young adult stride, much like her other royal peers in Spain and Holland. So nice that their cousins attended to support Christian for this important event.
My very best wishes to this lovely family.

Anon 9:13, one can only agree with you!
DeleteAww...that's nice of you Coralie. Thanks.

Can I just say that Prince Christian just looks very much like his maternal grandfather (the father of Crownprincess Mary)? I guess that one will notice some considerable similarities when comparing photos of a young Mr. Donaldson to these pictures of Prince Christian on his confirmation day.
ReplyDeleteI see also similarities with Mr Donaldson
DeleteI thought he looked like the other Grandfather the Queens husband.
ReplyDeleteHow we all see someone else in a person.
I don't like what Isabella is wearing, and I don't like that heel for a 14-year-old girl. This outfit is simply not for her but for a much older girl.
ReplyDeleteThe ones I like the most about this family are Felix and Nikolai
Susana
Look at how mature that young lady is not only now but in previous videos. The pretty ancient idea that BANG she is now 16 she can wear lipstick and high heels is very out of date. One must look at the maturity of the individual not have some magic age that allows this or that.
DeleteI think she looks just right even if her suit looks a bit oversized. I far prefer this to the downright childish way that princess Lenore of Spain is often dressed. Those two girls always beautifully groomed and coiffed always give me the impression that they have no idea what the real world is sbout.
I don't like what Isabella is wearing either. It doesn't seem to fit her well at all.
Deletenalerina Precisely because they dress according to their body, Isabella does not have the body to wear that monstrous suit. As for the Spanish princesses, They are super elegant and according to their age (15 and 14); there is time to grow. I find the excessive makeup on GIRLS very ridiculous, who still don't even have a woman's body ... and even if she did. Isabella does not have the body of a woman and is frankly ridiculous.
DeletePS: Do you always have to bring Spanish princesses into the conversation? I do not care because the Spanish will always win, although of course this is not a competition. Greetings
Susana
Age-appropriate clothing for teenager girls is not easy; it is often too much or not enough. Let'us be patient towards Isabella, she is tall (very tall) but not yet the morphology of a woman. Therefore the choice of a simple t-shirt as the top is very good. But no reason to be so tough towards her. She was not ridiculous at all, far away from that!!
DeleteShe made her choice among that rather stupid trend of "over sized". I think her mother is right to allow her to make some choices herself, she will soon develop her own mind.
WOW. What a joy to see these photos.
ReplyDeleteI've been back several time just to look at them. What a joy.
Fashion wise, except for the colour of Princess Mary's shoes and the bad tailoring of Prince Frederik's suit, nothing else to say.
Prince Christian has a good look of confidence and fearlessness which will aid him to be a great King.
Long live Queen Margrethe and her family.
Lovely family photos. Best outfit for me is Queen Margrethe’s bright coat and hat. Close second is Crown Princess Mary’s elegant outfit and I love how it coordinates with the ties for her husband and son. Although, it looks on the roomy side (is it her mother’s?) I quite like Princess Isabella’s trouser suit. A dark top, maybe navy polka dot to match the others, would have improved it. Prince Vincent remains mega cute!
ReplyDeleteKönigin Margrethe ist sehr elegant - Mary und Tochter eher nicht !!
ReplyDeleteI am fond of all these real girls playing with their clothes to be older. I really believe that a style is not defined in a person until the age of 28/30, before everything is experiments, trial and error, let's give that margin to Danish, Norwegian, Spanish, Dutch and Belgian women.
ReplyDeleteThe family looks fantastic! I love the coordination. I have come to expect blue suits from royal males. The ladies are making this work for me. Mary is blending in, keeping the focus on Christian, when there is such a desire to know what she will be wearing. I love Isabella's suit and think it is very appropriate for a young lady her age. The wide leg trousers make it youthful, and her choice of top and open jacket styling are age appropriate. I disagree with Susana about her shoes. At 14, a mid-height block heel is very appropriate. She doesn't need to be in ballet flats anymore. Josephine looks adorable and very age appropriate as well. The polka dots are a touch too matchy-matchy for me overall, but there may be something behind it we don't know about. Each of the girls is able to express her style while keeping a cohesive and proper look. I compare this to the Dutch royals recent appearances...well, there is no comparison. Margrethe looks just wonderful! Her cheerful coral ensemble is exquisite on her. ~d
ReplyDeleteLove you comment, totally agree.
DeleteI do agree.

Great matching dressed in blue and white …… Isabella in Mary's suit, indeed .

I love Mary's dress & Jospehine's outfit. The boys look good. Don't think much of Issbella's outfit the pants look like a parachute I think she got it wrong this time. Good to see the kids have inherited some Aussie in them. Mary I
ReplyDeleteJust curious, what do you mean that the have inherited some Aussie? I am aware that Mary is Australian, but what is specific to his looks that could be called Aussie? Not being snarky, just wondering…
DeleteM
I wondered as well, but concluded that it was another way of saying that they looked looked like their mother. I don't think there is ever a picture of the royal children that doesn't elicit comparisons between the child/children and other relatives. They are never allowed to just look like themselves. It is a compulsion for some to find a resemblance to anyone, living or dead. It can be difficult enough for these kids to be individuals by the mere fact that they are royal. They don't need to have to try to live up to, or in some cases escape the reputation of, relatives that have nothing to do with how they will live their lives. ~d
DeleteThey all look great. I like the pant suit very much on Princess Isabella, the only thing I would say is it seemed odd to me at first, I thought for a minute that both her an Prince Christian where being confirmed, because of the colour.
ReplyDeleteJoyous occasion and a beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteI have just studied the corresponding videos and I must say that this confirmation is a superb and very subtle masterpiece. Although Christian is officially at the centre of this event, the Queen, by wearing the colour red of the Dannebrog, has created a parallel image of national unity and pride, intentional of course, a clever and dignified performance.
ReplyDeleteVirginia, I agree with you completely.
DeleteWhile everyone commented on style and how lovely the family looked, I've got to remark about the dachshund.
ReplyDeleteFirst going to his Mistress, the Queen, looking up, like where am I to stand? Then moving across the 'stage' and down a step, he sits so regal, as if to say, "yes, this is where I should be, I am a handsome little dachshund, my coat is shiny, my teeth are clean and white, my collar is on straight, can every one see me ok?". lol
I love the comment about Queen Margrethe's dachshund. That was my beloved mothers favorite dog. I just lost my beloved Boston terrier "Rhett Butler".
DeleteDear Debra, Thank you for your praise, it took me quite some time to word my impression.🇩🇰

DeleteBeautiful family :) They all look beautiful and elegant.
ReplyDelete🥰🥰🥰
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and wonderful family. I really like the Princess Isabella suit. Princess Mary and Princess Josephine also looked beautiful. The men and boys too. The queen in red looked wonderful. The princely family matched colors :)
