King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited the Campus Salvator of the Jessa Hospital in Hasselt. There, they attended a meeting with the management about the organization and role of the hospital in the fight against the corona virus. Then, they spoke with the healthcare staff and staff members of various hospital departments.
Jessa Hospital is a Flemish hospital specialising in clinical medicine and high-quality patient care at three locations: campus Virga Jesse and campus Salvator in Hasselt, and campus of St. Ursula in Herk-de-Stad.
Afterwards, the King and Queen sat down on the "Babbelbank" (chatting bench), an initiative to tackle social isolation and loneliness. Babbelbank 'chatting bench' initiative allows people to have a socially distanced chat with an important person.
I think Mathilde looks very good in this dress. It has a nice 1950s vibe and she wears it well.
ReplyDeleteShe likes high waisted pieces and so the cut of this dress is perfect for her. Because of her lovely proportions and long legs the high waisted skirts tend to flare out so again this cut does just that properly and does not draw attention to hips..
Bonus marks for the subdued black and white print and the matching patterned shoes. I especially like that she didn't add another colour but kept to black and white.

First things first. Carolina Herrera outclasses Natan every time. At first glance, it was obvious this was not a Natan creation. This is a very nice silhouette on Mathilde. Since she has a tummy and hips, this has disguised her trouble areas beautifully. I would love to know what the dress looks like without the belt. When comparing the belt placement on the model to the belt placement on Mathilde, the belt is very high due to her short waist. It may have looked better without it, giving her a longer line instead of cutting her in half. I love the way she has worn the cardi over her shoulders. It really plays up the vintage look. I think her shoes are cute, but I would rather have seen a solid black or red shoe. I am not big on matchy-matchy. I think the shoes will look fun with a solid color and hope she will wear them that way. ~d
ReplyDeleteI fully agree with your remarks about the belt. This is not the first time that the belt is worn too high by Mathilde
DeleteAgree about the shoes - too much with the matching dress, but would be cute with a solid-colored (black, white, gray, fuchsia) dress or pants-suit.

DeleteThis is a great cut in her, very flattering. I agree with Anon 9:13 above, the 50's silhouette is wonderful for her. The check color is fantastic, and the matching shoes are perfect. We'll done Mathilde!
ReplyDeleteGreat look!
ReplyDeleteLa coupe de cette robe pied-de-poule convient bien à Mathilde en la ceinturant sans mettre en valeur ses hanches ; bon choix que le style de ses escarpins !
ReplyDeleteGreat dress, but the shoes are overkill. And I think it would have looked lovely with the cardigan worn properly instead of oddly hung over the shoulders.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you about the over kill on the shoes. They are nice looking, but black shoes would have looked so much better, even a low kitten heal or black flats. The sweater is nice, but she is wearing too much off the shoulders and one wonders how she kept it in the exact same position all through the occasion. I think it would have looked better worn properly.
DeleteI love this dress. The shoes and belt fit perfectly.
