On May 19, 2021, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia attended the opening of the 41st edition of the International Tourism Fair-FITUR 2021, which takes place from May 19 to 23, 2021 at the Feria de Madrid. The fair is the first annual event for professionals of world tourism and the leading fair for incoming and outgoing tourism markets in Latin America. Queen Letizia wore a new denim cotton jumpsuit by Inés Domecq.
IQ Collection - Inés Domecq jumpsuit with ruffle detail
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of the look - the Queen has an amazing figure but this outfit doesn't suit her.
ReplyDeleteA rare miss for me, QL can do much better than this. I know she doesn't shy away from contemporary modern even edgy styles - and she does have the figure for it - but this particular piece looks again like sth more suited for her daughters. I hope she passes it on to Sofia and we don't get to see a repeat of this by the Queen. Just my 2 cents...
ReplyDeleteE.d'A.
I have to agree, this is far too juvenile for beautiful Queen Letizia.
DeleteChel
I am not fan; I would prefer less is more.
ReplyDeleteThis light airy jumpsuit looks better without a belt. The black belt and pumps ruin it for me. Letizia has many pairs of espadrilles that would have looked better.
ReplyDeletehmm, this jumpsuit reminds me of an American football player outfit .. proportions are not doing the queen any good

Not a fan of this outfit: With the glints of gray in her hair, this outfit is better suited for a young woman, or no one. Just looks rather cheap and tacky. Anne
ReplyDeleteVery nice - I think she can carry it off. It does have a young fun vibe to it - I could see the Infanta Sofia wearing it as well.

I think he hit the nail again. .....and I think Mrs Cleaver, must have referred to "espardenyes" or "alpargatas" but not espadrilles.
ReplyDelete@Carme, the term espadrilles in English, refers to any shoe that has a canvas covering the foot, with a flexible sole generally constructed or cover by rope or “esparto” . The Queen has many pairs of espadrilles and her favorite brand , Castañer is sold in the world as espadrilles.

I hope this doesn't mean that the eighties are back. A rare miss for Letizia.
ReplyDeleteI usually like what she's wearing but this outfit with those side ruffles looks silly. Not a fan.
ReplyDeleteKarin
No. The age for such frills on these parts of the body is also over for Letizia. Not a good look. Frieda
ReplyDeleteI agree with the majority opinion. This jumpsuit does no favors for Queen Letizia. It does showcase her toned arms, which I envy. I understand that the engagement was for the benefit of the tourism market. Perhaps she decided to dress as a tourist. On the other hand, King Felipe was dressed perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your majority too: looks like a fancy dress, far too young.
ReplyDeleteShe seems to prefer very tight clothing the last weeks.
Josh
I like that he takes risks, although I don't like him today. I must admit that she wears it better than the model, but even with a sack of potatoes the queen would look elegant. I don't like it today
ReplyDeleteSusana
A no for me. It does not do anything for her figure and makes her look so vulnerable
ReplyDeleteShame about the camel toe.
ReplyDeleteG
Shame about your rude comment!

Needs to be taken into consideration when choosing pants CB. Perfectly valid comment for a fashion site. Get over yourself.

This looks like something I would have worn in high school. As a matter of fact, I did have a jumpsuit with a similar cut back in the day. The belt made this look like separates, not a jumpsuit. Even if the accessories had been any other color than black, I don't think it would have helped. As much as I like Letizia's style, I can't like this. Is it because I have already worn this in the early 80s? I can't be sure. I just think it misses the mark this time. Felipe, however, looks perfect. I like his lighter suit. ~d
ReplyDeleteI think mine was green with black buttons on one shoulder, haha
DeleteI had been trying to see a way that the top or the pants could work here, only to realize it's one entire garment...

Frills too frilly, pants are too tight. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteThe blouse looks like the upper part of an old fashioned pinafore. It doesn't flatter her slim frame. A rare miss to my opinion.
ReplyDeleteFor me the Queen in general can do no wrong. Today's jumpsuit according to the local press is a piece from a collection by a new designer. This however is a miss. Like someone said earlier it would suit young Sofia better.
ReplyDeleteJuly.
Sorry, not a fan of this at all. The whole look is too informal--it's like something you might wear at the seaside on holiday. I thought the trousers were white jeans until I saw Jumpsuit mentioned. The top with the huge frill does nothing for the Queen and reminds me of the space outfits worn in sci fi programmes of the 80s and 90s. Agree that the King looks especially handsome today.
ReplyDeleteActually she is promoting holidays at the seaside in Spain. It is a tourism Feria.

Not a fan of the frill, like the belt & colour the pants part of the outfit look nice, crisp & summary. Mary I
ReplyDeleteAs directed by the lady in photo #5 - lift-off in 3... 2... 1... ~Laurel~
ReplyDeleteOh no! Looks like she has wings and is ready to take flight. Like one of them funny tropical birds (except all the colours have been washed out!).

@ G, never an acceptable term in any circle, vulgarity is vulgarity in any context.
ReplyDeleteI don’t need to get over my head, your comment may be OK when you are talking trash among teenagers, but never on a respectable conversation.
CB
You may not like the term in those rarified circles you move in, CB - but that term is infinitely more respectable than having the outline of your vulva on display because you can't choose a pair of pants that aren't too tight.
DeleteDo be careful that the air you're breathing up there with the gods isn't a bit thin.
G
I disagree with the majority of commenters here - I think the frilly jumpsuit looks fantastic on Letizia just the way she styled it with black accessories! It's fun, it's summery, it's young - who says you have to be a teenager to wear "young" clothing? I also very much like the ensemble the lady with the green jacket is wearing, and I can equally see Letizia wearing it. S.M.
ReplyDeleteDear G, I don’t think your definition is accurate as I fail to see the display that you mention.
ReplyDeleteI agree with CB, your comments are beyond disgusting.
Maria M.
A visit to your ophthalmologist is called for then Maria M.
DeleteIf people can make comments about bras and corsetry why can't we say if a pair of pants don't leave much to the imagination? It's a fashion consideration.
A few delicate ladies having the vapours on this site - probably best to go and lie down in a darkened room to recover. Or get out the smelling salts.
G
Dear G, my vision is just fine, and so is my sensibility. Not the first time I hear the term, but I still find it distasteful. Basic principle is that we all know vulgar language, and yet we strive to find better ways to express ourselves, that is way we tell children that although many words are heard they shouldn’t be repeated. Being rude doesn’t make you forceful or right, vulgar expressions are just that.
ReplyDeleteRegards
Maria M.
@MW, no she is not by the sea, she is in Madrid. Facts are facts…
ReplyDeleteI do like this outfit a lot, however I think it wrinkles in a very unflattering way around the groin area, perhaps it should have had more length so it doesn’t ride up, perhaps is an optical effect in the pictures.
MM
FITUR represents vacations in Spain even being in Madrid. Obviously you have not seen this feria.
