Today, Queen Elizabeth II turns 95. Her birthday comes less than two weeks after the sudden demise of her husband, Prince Philip, on April 9, at the age of 99. This year The Queen remains at Windsor Castle during a period of Royal Mourning following the death of The Duke of Edinburgh. Today, the Queen will get together with close family members for her birthday. Other members of the British Royal family will visit the Queen so that she is not alone on her birthday.
A new birthday portrait of the Queen will not be released, as her official mourning period continues until this Friday. Although there will be no celebrations on Wednesday, the Queen will hold another celebration for her birthday in a few months time. On June 12, The Queen will celebrate her official birthday with a scaled down Trooping the Colour in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle.
Happy Birthday Your Majesty!
