Queen Elizabeth II shared a never-before-seen photo of Prince Philip as she prepares for her late husband's funeral, which will take place on 17 April. The photo is from the Queen's private collection, and shows her and Prince Philip on one of their regular stays at Balmoral.
The photo was taken in 2003 by the couple's daughter-in-law, the Countess of Wessex, at the top of the Coyles of Muick. The following message was added to the photo: "The Queen wishes to share this private photograph taken with The Duke of Edinburgh at the top of the Coyles of Muick, Scotland in 2003"
Such a warm-spirited and relaxed picture of the two. Really lovely to see it! - Ellie
ReplyDeleteAwww. Lovely, sweet and painful at the same time.
ReplyDeleteToday is a hard and sorrowful day; my thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family.
..it sure is...

Quelle charmante photo très décontractée du couple !
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sunny picture. In contradictio undoubtedly with the feelings of HM the Queen in these for her harsh times.
ReplyDeleteThe funeral today was beautiful and comforting in all its simplicity.

Was für ein liebes Foto :) :)
ReplyDeleteHannelore, genau das habe ich auch gleich gedacht!
DeleteIt's such a lovely and happy photo. At that stage she would be 77 and he would be 82, yet they look so well and so happy together
ReplyDeleteI love this picture (as with the other unseen pics released recently). Seeing these two in a relaxed, private moment is wonderful.

This is a wonderful photograph of the Queen and Prince Philip. They look so relaxed and happy. I note that, even in the Scottish Highlands during a personal holiday, the Queen wore her beautiful pearls. I was unable to watch the service today but have read excerpts and a saw many photos. I think the Duke would be pleased that his family adhered to his wishes. May he rest in Peace, and may the Queen be comforted by the outpouring of affection and respect shown toward her and her Prince.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photo of Prince Phillip and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. The countryside looks idyllic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful photo.
