Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark gave an interview to Hjernesagens medlemsblad, which is published as the member magazine of Hjernesagen (The Danish Stroke Association). HjerneSagen is a national association working for people affected by coronary thrombosis or cerebral haemorrhage, other people with braindamage, their relatives and other persons interested.Prince Joachim became unwell while staying at the Danish royal holiday residence, Chateau de Cayx last year. He was discharged from hospital on 3 August, nine days after he underwent emergency surgery for a blood clot on his brain.

ReplyDeleteI can't remember seeing Joachim looking so well ! He looks younger than he has done in previous years. So glad to see them both looking happy. Life in Paris must suit them both. Ana

DeleteFirst, I'm happy that Prince Joachim is doing well. The close up picture of them is fantastic. I love her jacket, the leather detailing is a great addition. She is a beautiful woman, and they are great together. He looks handsome in his suit.

Could it be that Joachim has stopped smoking? Somehow his complexion looks much heallthier nowadays.

Due maybe mostly to his children's insistence/wishes, Joachim quit smoking in Jun2019.
DeleteHere is his translated statement: "I stayed up 12 minutes before midnight for my 50th birthday. There I smoked the last cigarette. I had been preparing for a while before, and it has not actually been difficult. I have not missed it at all."
And... "The children! My children had a role in that decision. They wanted me to stop, and I loved them so much that I wanted to. And so it happened when I “grew” [He laughs]"
Prince Henrik had quit; CP Frederik quit (Mary made and/or helped him). I don't know if Princess Marie still smokes.

ReplyDeleteThey both look great and Joachim especially looks healthy. After reading about what happened and being an emergency nurse myself he is extremely lucky that Marie realised what was happening to him and promptly got help. It could so easily have been different. It is good they are raising awareness about strokes.
