On March 23, 2021, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the NHS Covid-19 vaccination clinic in Westminster Abbey, on the National Day of Reflection marking the anniversary of the first coronavirus lockdown. The Duke and Duchess met NHS clinicians, Abbey volunteers and patients.
The lobby area for The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries, opened in 2018, is used for the critical support functions of deliveries, storage and a pharmacy, including the controlled storage of vaccines. The Duchess wore a new wool coat from Catherine Walker. A delicate ivory floral lace has been hand-applied to the front of this soft wool coat.
On the National Day of Reflection, one year since the first lockdown in the UK, The Duke and Duchess took part in a moment of reflection at Westminster Abbey. The Duke of Cambridge lit a candle at the Shrine’s altar and The Duchess laid fresh daffodils.
Magnifique ! Le manteau et la femme qui le porte sont magnifiques!
ReplyDeleteApparently her 10th wedding anniversary is coming up in a few weeks, and this is the venue were she got married. Therefore she wore white
DeleteJean
I usually like her coat dresses but this looks too formal for the event and almost like a maternity dress.
ReplyDeleteW
I agree too formal for the event, she looks overdressed.
DeleteAgree totally!
DeleteStyle, class and dignity and still youthfull!
ReplyDeleteJudy
It's very nice but in some of the photos it seems a little too big; a little boxy around the waist. But I love the detail and texture.
ReplyDeleteEuropa
I agree, it's a bit boxy in few inches long.
DeleteI agree - it would look better a bit shorter, more tailored and maybe with a scarf.
ReplyDeleteI love this coat. The colour, the fit and the detailing are all superb and the accessories are perfect too. It is the sort of look to lift everyone's mood.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely agree with you, Elizabeth. It certainly lifted my mood. Beautiful textured front and fabulous brown accessories. Just gorgeous.
DeleteToujours très chic, et très classe, la Duchesse Catherine, et quel manteau ! vraiment superbe, dommage ce pansement urgo scotchhé sur le visage, et pour quel résultat......
ReplyDeleteMARIMAR
Hallucinating again...
DeleteB
It's an extremely formal outfit for a quite informal visit.
ReplyDeleteBut wow, that coat is beautiful.
I think the visit is not informal, because it took place on the National Day of Reflection marking the anniversary of the first coronavirus lockdown
DeleteBeautiful coat, love it!
ReplyDeleteRenee
This is one of her nicest coats so far. But sometimes I wonder if we'll ever see her in something else than a long coat during the winter. I guess she has made this her uniform, like the Queen wears the same type of coats all the time. But fashionwise it is getting a bit boring...
ReplyDeleteLovely coat, with offset line and subtle lace detail. Frisure is on point, as are the earrings.
ReplyDeleteBrown accessories are ok, but I'd have suggested grey or navy accents, but that's a minor quibble.

Catherine's coat is beautiful, and it is tailored perfectly for her. The shoes and clutch go very well with the coat. Her pearl earrings are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteTotally agreed, Debra.
DeleteShe looks magnificent.
V.
Wonderful colour on her. Very proper. Decent and well cut. Stephanie
ReplyDeleteStephanie
DeleteEntirely agreed.
A formal coat on a formal day, well done.
This couple is wonderful in every respect.
They ooze class and dignity whenever they appear and wherever they go.
V.
Lovely coat but inappropriate to such an event.
ReplyDeleteNonsense. It was a day of remembrance for those who died from Covid. In what way is it inappropriate?

DeleteI'm not alone in that view. There are other comments where Kate’s outfit is qualified as "too formal for the event', "overdressed", "not really suitable for all occasions".
Both are every inch a future king and Queen. Catherine looks regal.
ReplyDeleteExactly!
DeleteP.
I like the style of the coat, I like the texture of the fabric, but I do not like the fit of it on Kate. Since it seems to be worn as a coat dress, it is too big and shapeless from the waist down, and perhaps a little too long.
ReplyDeleteI saw a video clip of Kate walking in it and it didn't look good there either. Kind of adds years to her.
Full marks for her hair styling though.

I agree totally. The idea of wool and lace overlay is nice but the total style and fit is i.m.o. not attractive at all. It is too long and the football shoulders and wide, somewhat open neckline in woolly fabric just don't seem to pull it off. It is like Audrey Hepburn gone wrong.
DeleteNo, I don't like it. And with these brown shoes. A clear no from me. Frieda
ReplyDeleteSo elegant und passend , Catherine wie immer eine Augenweide :)
ReplyDeleteWho would have believed watching their wedding 10 years ago, that in 2021 the abbey would be a vaccination centre due to a worldwide pandemic...
ReplyDelete-B.
Absolutely gorgeous love the detailing. So very English & looks so cosy due to the weather. As I am in the southern hemisphere not sure how cold it is on the other side of the world. Mary I
ReplyDeleteI don't know if anyone else had noticed this, but bulkiness around the waisteline could be hiding some good news for the couple.
ReplyDeleteNoticed the same in previous outing in pink outfit.
Wonderful to see a future queen, not dressed in Zara
ReplyDeleteIlona
Not liking this coat at all, reminds me of a bed coverlet. Too old fashioned for such vibrant young woman... well, she hardly fails in my book, but this one is a no for me.
ReplyDeleteCB
Totally agree with you.
DeleteJudy
Agree. She's "too young" for it. Frieda
DeleteCatherine looks lovely as always. I'm wondering if she's expecting again.
ReplyDeleteWhy?
DeleteAnd why do you wonder if a woman that you don’t know is expecting?
Weird......
C
Beautiful coat. The lace detailing is gorgeous. The fit could be better in the waist and maybe an inch shorter. Her clutch and shoes are nice but I would prefer a different color. A jewel tone would pop more.
ReplyDeleteE.B.B.
I agree. Superb detailing but the fit is off.
DeleteAlso, another color for the accessories was a missed opportunity.
...ck
It is a beautiful coat.
ReplyDeleteHowever it is a little dull on her, first too long, if it was a tad shorter would have made it more youthful, contrasting piping or something to add colour would have been perfect.
Red shoes would have been lovely.
She does not look well lately, sad, Meghan and Harry interview has effected her.
Agree the coat and the sleeves need to be shortened. It's a pretty coat, but not really suitable for all occasions. For Easter, in a pastel shade for a wedding guest, for a cocktail-hour reception, but it doesn't seems suitable for what I would call a business-type event. Needs fancier earrings, sleeker accessories. It's something Letizia would wear, except she would accessorize it with more pizazz. I do love Catherine's hair, I almost always do except for a time when she had bangs that kept falling into her eyes. Nice to see William in a suit and tie.
DeleteI also think she has recently been looking sad/subdued, and attribute it to the H&M interview, maybe there is another cause. She continues to exude positive energy towards others, bless her. S.M.
Now that I think about it, maybe the almost-wedding dress Catherine is wearing is in honor of their 10th wedding anniversary - that would make sense! Still think the look would be improved with better accessories. S.M.
DeleteI love the coat, I agree it looks a bit too formal but I rather have them (royal) overdress than underdress.
ReplyDeleteFurther they indeed a perfect king and queen to be. And finally I see such a gentelnes towards each other, I applaud them not only for the work they do, the family that they are upbringing and the dignity they bring to the role.
Luna
I think this coat is beautiful – I love the scallop detail and lace overlay. Agree the sleeves are a little clumsy, but perhaps Kate is following in the Queen's footsteps and is having extra space put into her armholes/sleeves to allow her to wave? I also love the earrings, which are so versatile and will work well with any outfit.
ReplyDeleteYesterday was not an informal occasion and such a visit called for formal attire. It was a national day of remembrance for the 126,000 victims of Covid in the UK, and Westminster Abbey is one of our most holy and important religious buildings as well as being the burial place of 17 monarchs and many great historic figures.
Oh my God! How old is she?
ReplyDeleteQuestion to the admin: why yoi won't post my comment?
ReplyDeleteBased on bulkiness if her coat's wasteline i assume she is pregnant. Why you wouldn't post it?
Anonymous @7:18, I think that you need to put on your reading glasses..bulkiness?
ReplyDeleteThis woman is the picture of leanness she has the waist of a honey bee. Once again I believe is incredibly rude and invasive to speculate about pregnancies based on what you perceive to be a body change. Is just I’ll mannered and nosy.
C
Your attitude is more Twitter appropriate and not for this site. In opposite to you I will try to civilly explain where my comment comes from:
Delete1. Long years of observation of Duchess.
2. Compared to last outings couple months ago her wasteline is wider than usual.
3.Bulkiness for your information is in reference to the clothing line and fit, rather than to the body under it. If you have hard time to understand let me enlighten you: a lot of women in early stages of the pregnancy wear bulky cloth to hide it. That is the meaning for "bulkiness" here. Don't take it out of its context.
Now will you please leave your rudeness outside of this beautiful website and take it to another more appropriate for it platform?
With respect,
Anon 7.18
Anon @ 7:18... rudeness you say? what is rude about my comment?I am flabbergasted at the notion that you think is OK to speculate about something so private as to whether a woman is pregnant based on her perceived wider waistline. Women aren’t only baby making machines, is just rude and insensitive to read all the questions, after a few months after a wedding people asking is she pregnant, when will she get pregnant? Every single time that they gain a pound, all the nosy and gossips start their inquisition, that my friend is rude, disrespectful and invasive.
ReplyDeleteRespectfully
C
Anonymous @ 21:32, so you insult a participant above while defending rude questions from others, and also advise her with the most condescending tone to go somewhere else because you don’t agree with her opinion. In what circles do you move where is OK to ask a woman as to whether she is pregnant because she looks bulky? Where in the world do you go around asking private questions as such?
ReplyDeleteNot to mention that it’s none of your business ..
Ms Marple
Totally agree, rude, speculative and sexist. So if you are a female and gain a pound it gives all the keyboard judges the right to speculate about whether you may be pregnant ?
ReplyDeleteDidn’t you learn as a child that some questions are inappropriate and frankly that is not something that you need to know. If a public person is pregnant I am sure that she would let you know in due time, so can sleep at night.
BTW, Anon 7:18, who are you to tell people to leave a blog? Well, that is the epitome of rudeness and entitlement.
