  1. Maxima sits very up to date behind her desk in the elegant ambience in front of the incredibly beautiful bouquet of flowers. I usually don't like cut flowers, but this one is really impressive.
The queen looks slim but feminine in her tight-fitting dress. The color is a little too warm for her, a colder shade of brown would have been even more advantageous. The jewelry knocks me out, really fantastic, especially with her brown eyes.
And her hair is, as always, contemporary chic. Perhaps too modern for some of her outdated critics.

@Katrin I agree with your assessment. I have always seen Maxima as a modern working woman who is also a Queen and also a mother to three teens/pre-teen. Millions of working mothers like that can relate to her.
She knows how to dress accordingly when she is in each of those roles - for the people she works to help, for her country and citizens, and for her family and children. The outfits might be different, but some things might remain the same for all three roles, like her hair which everyone always complains about. It doesn't bother me. I admire her more for the fact that she can be all those things in some depth. Few modern royal ladies can do as much.

Being messy and badly dressed does not mean being modern.
Maxima is very clever ,but fahion and well coiffed hair elude her.

@katrin, this is a fashion blog, not a shrine where people go to adore their favorite royals, or a courtroom where others go to judge their not so favorite ones. Opinions are never subjective, but some of us stay close to the subject at hand. I don't know whether she works more or less than other royals, I do know that she is a rather priviledged woman, so forgive me if I don't get on my knees to praise the fact that she has a job.
Now, to call her hair contemporary is an adjective that doesn't fit here, her hair is over processed, has a brassy tone, is dry, it has absolutely no style, and has the appearance of being unwashed, this is not modern or classic is just bad hair. About her wardrobe... I generally like when she is dressed for gala events, in her day to day, I hardly ever find her elegant .

    7. I get the impression that Maxima is wearing the so called ' halo hair extension', given the volume and thickness of her hair.
Of course, I may be wrong.

Messy hair, dress a drab color that does nothing for her, her makeup is horrid, makes her look ill. Jewelry is just over sized and ugly. Cut flowers? The cost of such a huge boquet could be put to better use, such as food for the needy, or anything else. The queen/family don't have need for such expensive fresh arrangements. :(

Maxima is working. It is a little difficult to work without being able to take notes, or have notes at the ready. If these photos hadn't been taken, you never would have known. As for the flowers, it is possible they could have a hot house. It is also possible they are silk flowers. Both are a stretch, but why always jump to the worst conclusion? You are looking for something to be wrong so you can criticize.

  4. I am from the Netherlands and it has just been noticed there that Maxima during this meeting was on bare feet and was surfing on the Netherlands biggest shopping site bol.com. And yes, she looks a mess.

I don't know any more than what I read about bol.com, but it looks like it is a marketplace for vendors as well as a shopping site, much like Amazon. Could she be looking at the site because they are discussing the impact COVID has had on SMEs? It would make sense.

If she is barefoot, who cares? She is not a foot model, needing to show her feet. She only shows from mid-torso up to the people she is meeting with. That is the point of tabletop dressing.

    2. At a meeting on debt problems they might have discussed prices for household equipment, no conclusions should be made on that.

    3. Stuff and Nonsense. just because the screen showed a blue bar with a white oval in it does NOT mean she was on Bol.com. neither can anyone see her feet and even if they could whats wrong with bare feet?
AND to all the complainers of fresh flower arrangements. THIS IS THE NETHERLANDS for goodness sake . Fresh flowers at all times of the year are almost compulsory. Whats more they are not exotically expensive in this country and if we did nit buy them many many farmers would go bankrupt. It is one of our major industries and it feeds a lot of people. For the person who is complaining about the cost of the flowers and all the people it can feed. WHY ARE YOU ON THIS BLOG wasting you time when you could be cooking for the people who are in trouble just now or running errands for those who can not shop for food themselves.

You are absolutely right about the flower industry in the Netherlands.

  6. Just a big No from me. Her makeup is way too heavy and dark. The jewelry too big, makes it look like cheap costume jewelry (while I am sure it is quite expensive). I find the color of the dress drab, if it were a shade or two warmer or cooler it would make a huge difference. Such a shame because she is such an intelligent woman that she can't get her look right.

I donot understand the praise of her being a working woman, Queen and mother, etc.
I think other royals do as much as Maxima: for instance Mary, Mathilde, Sophie, and what to think of the older generation: Queen Margareta of Denmark and the Queen of Norway?
Maybe they donot invite the photographer as much as Maxima does.
And when she does, it has consequences for her outfit and hair!

Mr W, once again this a fashion blog, and 99% of comments are about that very fact, and disagreeing with what you find attractive is not jealousy, why in the heck will one be jealous of her style? Generally I find her sense of fashion a little tacky, with way too many accessories, enormous jewelry and poor choices for the events, every now and then she wears something that I like, of course. Her hair is a disaster, bad cut, bad color, bad condition and unkept appearance, so no , I am not jealous I could achieve that look by simply letting my hair “go” for 2 months :) . I vehemently disagree with your opinion about P Beatrix hair style, obviously most of us won’t qualify it as “chic” , but it always looks clean and tidy, and is definitely appropriate for a woman of her age, very much in line with Q Elizabeth, Sofia, Sonya etc..,
So stop calling people names, just because they disagree with you.

  10. Work commitments have meant that I have not had time to visit my favourite royal blog as regular as I normally do. It's so disappointing to find the kind of bickering that there is in this post. If some admire and like Maxima for her intelligence and the work that she does for her adopted country, so be it. If others find her outfits and her overall appearance not up to scratch, then that's fair enough too. The point of this blog as I've said before, is supposed to be commenting on the fashion/appearance which is why I find it so enjoyable and relaxing at the end of a long day. Could we avoid criticising each other?

Mr W, women aren’t “ a race” ( what a horrible statement) they are a gender and includes your mother, sisters, daughters, friends, perhaps spouse, if you are a man, do you happen to find them the worst that the world has to offer? Your inflammatory comment is ignorant and insulting. I am a woman, I am not the worst but the best I can be.
Please go hide in your cave.
